I signed a 1.27 USD fee transaction 3 weeks ago. It confirmed today. 34,085 minutes later. That's the "Internet of Money" provided by Bitcoin Core.

The lightning network is a scam, it has nothing to do with technology. They want to create a bitcoin central bank.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2018 06:12 PM PST

LN has nothing to do with technology. They basically want to create a bitcoin central bank where everybody else holds IOUs but LN/Blockstream holds all bitcoins and people use paper/banknotes for transactions.

So the role of the LN is basically that of a clearing house. Users are supposed to transact in IOUs and LN simply updates the balances of each user without moving any bitcoins from their vault.

Why is this a scam? Because the next stage, just like with tethers today or fiat, will be that LN/Blockstream will start issuing IOUs that are not backed by any bitcoin deposits.

The delay has nothing to do with technology but with waiting for the right market conditions to make a move. When they say LN will be ready in 6 month they mean that they expect a mass bankruptcy of exchanges within 6 months. Once that vacuum is created LN/Blockstream will step in accepting people's deposits in bitcoins.

    wtf

Jameson Lopp apparently doesn't understand UTXO. The UTXO falls on Bitcoin Cash because low fees let users easily sweep and consolidate funds. The opposite happens on BTC where dust goes to die.

Door-to-door Bitcoin Cash marketing in shopping malls

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 01:17 AM PST

Inspired by a new android app that shows merchants accepting BCH nearby, I thought of visiting merchants to motivate them to accept BCH.
    https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/7nkf3w/bitcoin_cash_merchant_directory_android_app_now/?utm_source=reddit-android

As you can see there in the screen shot only very few merchants in Tokyo are accepting Bitcoin Cash. That led me to the following idea:

Near my house in Nagoya there is the "Osu shotengai (大須商店街)", the biggest traditional shopping mall here with hundreds of small shops that line a couple of small streets. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%8Csu

As I have good experience from former times doing door to door sales visits to shops, I think that I could easily convince the kind of trendy shop owners in Osu to display "Bitcoin Cash accepted here" signs and help them to get started.

To do that I first have to get an assortment of such BCH accepted signs to display on the shop window and next to the cash register. And also some information about which set-up I should recommend to be used by a typical merchant. (Just putting a bch wallet on a handy or maybe some device that can be put next to the cash register. )

I am happy to visit the shops in my free time and post thereafter how successful my mini marketing campaign was. If so, we should think of organizing such visits to shops systematically and find ways to give support and additional incentives, maybe even by a kind of tipping after supplying a photo as proof that a BCH sign has been put up.

I think it is a good idea to start such marketing efforts in that kind of shopping malls, because that way we can get a certain conzentration of "BCH accepted here" signs in a small area. To do such marketing now would be good timing, as Bitcoin awareness has reached mainstream, as here in Japan Bitcoin ads of exchanges (BitFlyer, CoinCheck, etc.) are appearing now on prime time television.

Bitcoin Cash Merchant Directory Android app now available on Google Play

    Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:26 PM PST

You can now find nearby Bitcoin Cash merchants using an Android app I just released, called Marco Coino. Hopefully you'll meet lots of wonderful merchants along the way and make lots of commerce happen.

It only has a small number of merchants in Japan so far, but I'm looking forward to adding lot more, all over the world. I have lots of big plans for it in the future as you can imagine, but I wanted to get something out there to the community as soon as possible.

I've also created an iPhone version, but it's waiting for various approvals.

If you feel like you want to donate, to help me spend more time on this, here's my address: 13ty1Dj14EA3GWkFg9mbNphqcC2m55CgjT

The Reddit reset link issue makes Reddit users vulnerable to hacks from Reddit employees. u/spez you must URGENTLY FIX reset link vulnerability so that they work only when clicked in users' email. users are at risk!

    Posted: 01 Jan 2018 10:55 AM PST

Reddit reset links do not expire and work even if not clicked by the user in the reset email. Anyone with access to outbound emails in Reddit's database can compromise accounts. As discussed here this scheme is the only possible explanation behind the recent hacks of /r/btc moderator /u/todu and other users' tippr balances. All these hacks follow the same pattern: email is not compromised and attacks are too rapid for a malware to be involved.

If Reddit cannot find out who in their staff is breaking the law, Reddit devs should take URGENT steps to protect users by fixing the reset link issue and making them unusable by outsiders.

Reddit you need take action, we are all at risk!

Edit: u/nimrand has pointed out that it is impossible to use reset links that work only when clicked in the email. Therefore the only solution to this issue seems to be an investigation by Reddit to identify those responsible of abusing their access credentials to hack users.

Here is my business plan: write a great book, get a lot of word of mouth and popularity, then remove all the content and print blank pages in the new version but people will still buy it at higher price.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:06 PM PST

If they complain that my book is empty I will answer them

"do not ask what the book can do for you but what you can do for the book"

Do you think this can work ?

I am thinking about marketing it as a "store of creativity" because if everyone believes that the book has creativity inside, then they will get inspired by it and get creative, no need to ever actually open the book.
