DD on Ripple's Board of Directors Posted: 19 Dec 2017 04:07 PM PST With the appointment of Zoe Cruz, I did some research on the entirety of Ripple's board members and compiled in list form their employment history, accolades/awards, and other board relationships. I know most of this info is on Rippple's Board site, but having it in list form is sometimes easier for me to read and process. I put this together for my own research, hoping this will be helpful to others. Seeing the many accomplishments and powerful connections Ripple's board has made me even more confident of my investment in XRP. To me, XRP is an investment in people, not just a currency or a technology. If I can trust the people running the show, it gives me more faith in XRP's future. Most interesting person to research was Susan Athey. She is also on the Board at Expedia.com, who owns HomeAway, an AirBNB competitor. I know people have been guessing what those two household names are, and I've seen AirBNB including in the discussion. If people are speculating that AirBNB is one of the names, I think it makes sense that a competitor like HomeAway/Expedia should be considered as well. But this is just pure speculation. If you're interested, Susan Athey also held a Quora session back in Jan 2016. She answered a couple questions on the future of Bitcoin and Ripple. Anyways, here's the list: Gene Sperling *President, Sperling Economic Strategies (Present) Founder and Director of the Center for Universal Education at the Council on Foreign Relations and the Brookings Institution. Named one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Finance worldwide in 2013 by Worth Magazine. Takashi Okita *CEO, SBI Ripple Asia (2016-Present) Non Executive Director of SOFTBRAIN Co,.Ltd. (2014-2017) Named one of the "100 People to Change Japan" in 2014 by Nikkei Business Anja Manuel *Co-founder and Managing Partner, RiceHadleyGates LLC (2009-Present) Board member: Overseas Shipping Group, Inc. Benjamin Lawsky *CEO, The Lawsky Group (2015-Present) Ken Kurson *Senior Managing Director, Teneo Strategy (2017-Present) Named 2014's Journalist of the Year by Algemeiner magazine. Brad Garlinghouse *CEO, Ripple (2017-Present) Board Member: Ancestry.com (2013-2016) Zoe Cruz *Senior Advisor, Promontory Financial Group, LLC (2016-Present) On Forbes' Most Powerful Women list for three years, 2005 (#16), 2006 (#10) and 2007 (#34). Susan Athey *Professor, Stanford Graduate School of Business (2013-Present) Member, Board of Directors at Expedia, Inc. (2015-Present) Numerous accolades, including: John Bates Clark Medal (2007) Chris Larsen *CEO and Co-Founder, Ripple (2012-Present) Advisor, Distilled Analytics, Inc. Posted: 19 Dec 2017 07:06 AM PST If you go to Mr. Arrington's Twitter profile and the tweets that he has favorited, or "liked" (https://twitter.com/arrington/likes), you find that he has favorited a tweet (https://twitter.com/xrp_news/status/942961973733576704) saying the following: "I truly believe XRP will be the highest performing asset of 2018. xrp #xrpthestandard #ripple"The tweet was posted 11 hours ago. If anyone knows something that we don't, it's probably Mr. Michael Arrington. Conclusion? HODL. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Dec 2017 08:20 AM PST I run a small design/marketing company in the UK. I invested in Ripple in August this year and finally decided that I would show my support for Ripple in the only way I could think of by offering it as a payment method for my current and future clients. My current client base include companies like Nissan and Siemens. I'm no 'household' name, but I wanted to show my support and push Ripple to businesses in my local area. Any other small business owners on here who would consider doing the same? edit: Getting quite a few PMs from people on here interested in my team doing various design jobs for them in exchange for Ripple as a result of this post, this wasn't meant as a cheap way to advertise my company (if it was I'd have linked to my website and didn't for this very reason, but I am happy to facilitate your requests, I appreciate your interest. Just PM me if anyone wants anything done.) [link] [comments]

Bitcoin Cash, does this impact XRP? Posted: 19 Dec 2017 06:30 PM PST The creators and folks at XRP seem to really value stability. When their business model is focused on licensing to banks, known quantity/known price, one of the worst things that could happen is huge swings right? Looking at this BCash and the crazy swing it's had, that may be an argument why XRP doesn't hit coinbase right? The creators may not want it to. While it'd be a great windfall for retail investors, that's not really who Ripple wants to make happy. [link] [comments]

Good News for Ripple - Possible Foreshadowing Posted: 19 Dec 2017 12:13 PM PST I very much dislike CNN but a coworker sent this my way since it mentions Ripple... "SEC suspends trading of red-hot bitcoin stock" http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/19/investing/bitcoin-crytpocurrencies-sec-bubble/index.html The above link is a bit sensational, but what I am happy about is the below quote... Within the article: "Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, a company that developed the Ripple XRP cryptocurrency and also works to license blockchain technology with banks, says he wants to cooperate with agencies like the SEC to weed out bad actors. "Many of the ICOs are more frauds than real businesses. The industry needs to work with regulators and not be in the shadows," he said. "ICOs are taking advantage of grey areas in securities law. What worries me the most is some of the hype in the system." I think this is a hint to the sleeping masses to accept Ripple and forget everything else. Good news? I am definitely optimistic to keep hearing Ripple in the mainstream news (as much as I can't stand the outlets supporting our cause). It appears that 2018 has great years to come for some, a very bad year for others. [link] [comments]

Buy and Hodl XRP because of this... Posted: 19 Dec 2017 09:18 AM PST First, this subreddit has gained 20,000 followers, an increase of probably over 40% in the last week. That by itself is remarkable, but not why I'm here. I'm assuming a couple of parameters, combined with some facts acquired on the internet. SWIFT processes daily an estimated $5 trillion volume (more?). Ripple's use case is to penetrate this market. Let's say they do, and assume one day they capture a mere 1% of this market, or $50 billion in international value transfer daily. Banks that adopt Ripple's use case will need to acquire XRP. There's 38 billion available, most of which is probably held by people like us and some FIs. Let's say 19 billion, or half, will be available to banks that adopt the use case. With these conservative assumptions, XRP would need to be valued at $2.63 (=50/19) to sufficiently process that volume. Assuming we Hodl of course. The banks are clearly interested. It's just a matter of functionality and time. [link] [comments]

Piece of mind! Moved all my XRP off exchange into paper wallet! Posted: 19 Dec 2017 12:36 PM PST This wallet will now go into my safe, and 2 other locations to be sure my investment is safe. For anyone interested in doing the same, creating a paper wallet is very easy (and very secure!). https://www.reddit.com/r/Ripple/comments/6f4juz/psa_how_to_make_a_paper_wallet/ Essentially, you will have a piece of paper with a new Ripple wallet address and a secret key. You will need the secret key to identify as the owner of the wallet. You can check your Wallet balance here (http://ripplerm.github.io/ripple-wallet/) and when you identify with your secret key you can send XRP out from the paper wallet. In time, you will need to transfer your XRP to an exchange to trade for fiat currency - if that is your goal of owning Ripple XRP. [link] [comments]
How high could XRP realistically go? Posted: 19 Dec 2017 07:24 PM PST Right now it's at ~.70 cents and already the fourth largest crypto on the market. Bear with me here, I'm no math genius: •Market cap currently is roughly 1/10 of BTC •if it where to reach the level of BTC, then each XRP would need to be worth about 7 dollars a piece to reach that market cap Would that make 7$ a reasonable high end goal? Edit: Am no crypto guru either [link] [comments]

Acquiring Ripple XRP Seems Quite Difficult Posted: 19 Dec 2017 08:57 PM PST It seems on any given day any of the exchanges has chosen to remove XRP as an exchangable asset. I've been waiting days for my Bitstamp verification to go through so I could just buy XRP with USD. Today after the Bitcoin Cash run, as Bitcoin and XRP went down in value, I decided to purchase some Bitcoin at the slightly lower rate than the past week. I'd like to exchange it for XRP while it still hovers around 70 cents on the USD, but I can't seem to find an exchange anywhere that will convert BTC to XRP. I've tried Shapeshift, Changelly, Evercoin and have had no luck. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

Invest in ripple, but really understand the underlying reason for why (for the new investors) Posted: 19 Dec 2017 06:21 AM PST I'm a big fan of ripple, i think the tech is great, the industry backing is promising, and that its a long term winner. But if you put your money into any investment because "it went up, i want to make money too" you're just asking to lose money. There are 2 types of people (probably overly general, but just for this example) who buy ripple.
Person 1 will be content regardless of the price. Sure, everyone likes money, but they believe in the tech and can weather any dips in the price. Person 2 will freak if half their investment goes away tomorrow, likely sell off, and take a huge loss. Again, I believe in ripple. But please, do your homework. Protect your money, don't just throw it on the pile and hope it spats out 10x your initial investment. Keep it off the exchanges. To the moon!! [link] [comments]
#3 Major things that can happen to XRP price before 31-12-2017. Posted: 18 Dec 2017 09:43 PM PST
Now everyone has their answer. Let's get back to more fundamental discussions. Also no more memes please :) And for the one posting screenshots of XRP breaking X price no exchange Y blablabla, WE ALL CAN SEE THAT TOO on the exchange itself. [link] [comments]
There is not that much XRP left. Posted: 19 Dec 2017 11:06 AM PST A person or institution came in and bought 900,000,000 XRP. There are transactions where people are coming in and taking 100k plus. It's only a matter of time when 30 or so banks come in and take a billion or so each... 30+ billion is a very large number but in retrospect of the financial world - it's not really that much.
