Upcoming Announcement Predictions- A realistic hype train

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 04:33 AM PST

It's been a pretty eventful few weeks for litecoin, with a lot of information flying around. Hype, FUD, rumors, and opinions. It's been exciting. The main topic of conversation overall seems to be Charlie selling his coins, but if you are a true HODLer and you have followed Charlie for a while, this doesn't seem that outrageous. And it certainly does not do anything to change the underlying reason I own Litecoin. If anything, I would hope that it has given people who believe in the technology another chance to accumulate LTC at the expense of short-term speculators.

In my opinion the more important tweet of that weekend was this one: https://i.imgur.com/NAzlnqm.jpg which sparked a lot of rumors of Facebook and Amazon, since which Charlie has squashed. But what might these mean? I'd like to give my .02Å‚. (Note this is pure uncut speculation. I'm typing out my ass)

BitPay is the obvious choice here- they just raised a $30 million round of funding and are acutely aware of their customers pain in dealing with BTC's high fees. They raised the minimum payment to $100 and then quickly lowered it to $5, but they mention in that post that they are scrambling to allow BCH payments. I think they are putting their new funding to work to support Litecoin payments too.

Blockchain.info had the most popular online BTC wallet for a long time. They hit their 3 millionth wallet in 2015 and held out as BTC-only all the way up to August of this year, when they added Ethereum. They are clearly opening up to new currencies:

"By adding ether as a new currency, we're providing users with a new diverse way to interact with the digital economy."

I think Litecoin will be the new diversity soon.

    • Goods Trading Platform: OpenBazaar

So it's already a bit out of the bag that OpenBazaar is looking to add more support for other cryptocurrencies, but Litecoin hasn't been officially announced, and it is definitely in the works. This interaction took place back in April: https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/849833992455049216

OpenBazaar isn't as sexy as what we are all hoping for- *cough eBay cough* but it would be good continued adoption nonetheless.

    • Finally, the "One huge unexpected surprise:" I don't know, maybe coblee is pregnant?

I'm torn on this. My instincts are always to be cautious when something is hyped up as "huge," especially after this last year in crypto. I can't remember a single "Huge upcoming announcement" that lived up to the hype. (ex Neo, Monero, Einsteinium, etc. etc.) Monero in particular was a speculator trap, which I see more coblee's speed rather than hyping up fluff. On the other hand, I feel like Charlie and co know this too, so maybe it really is a huge announcement. If you follow him closely, you could definitely see a potential take away that this announcement is why he sold his coins in the first place. The sale was definitely a calculated decision, and it wasn't unilateral either: https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/945891046751215616 If you read between the lines, he is acutely aware that he has "insider info" and does not want to be accused of using it to his advantage. Take a peek at his recently liked tweets: https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/likes His last two as of writing this are these: https://twitter.com/keithnesbit/status/945896336234242048 https://twitter.com/bitcnic/status/945883674301616128

One is a speculator selling on Charlie's announcement. The other is directly talking about insider hype and the personal enrichment that comes with that. There are other examples of Charlie encouraging speculators to sell: https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/945408382818590720

I am willing to bet some LTC that if Charlie has actual hype news to back up the "huge surprise" claim, the idea of quick-buck bandwagoners and traders who don't care about Litecoin's mission or purpose selling now and missing out on the surge would be the cherry on top for Charlie. I could see that being an added bonus to his warning tweet a few weeks ago, too. I believe that he wants people to own Litecoin because they believe in the vision of decentralized, permissionless, uncensorable money, not because "their moon" is $1000 bucks or all the BS posts I see in this sub these days.

Or maybe I'm projecting this last part on him because that is what I want. Sure, it's nice that the price of each Litecoin has jumped considerably, but there is something greater taking place right now than personal enrichment. Litecoin has value because the people agree that it does, and the technology allows us to agree without being told by a higher power. I like Charlie, but he is not the reason I hold Litecoin. I hold Litecoin because through ups and downs and 6 years of existence, the technology has been proven and people around the world understand and agree that this blockchain has value. And it's only a matter of time until the big announcements come- signaling real adoption.

Convince Earn.com to support LTC. Their users are complaining that BTC's transaction fees are too high.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:04 AM PST

Earn.com pays you money for answering cold emails. They currently pay you in Bitcoin, but people are complaining that they can't transfer the money out of their account because the transaction fees are just as high as the payout.

    See tweet: https://twitter.com/chrismaddern/status/946036653252104192

Let's convince them to support LTC.

Tweet @earndotcom and ask them to support LTC so that transaction fees will be lower and their users get more value for their time.

I’m gunna get in on this... if either Litcoin or Bitcoin reach their record exchange rate by New Year’s Day, I’ll chug 3 beers naked in the middle of the night 3,000ft above sea level on a county road.

I don't know when or where I seen the tweet this is my guess on the new merchandiser since they said it months ago. But again, wild guess.

    Litecoin issues needing solved

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 10:13 AM PST

LONG POST- but very important to read.

So guys, I'm definitely a supporter of litecoin and believe in it long term. But we also need to focus on ways to make this a viable currency and without solving some key issues it'll never be fully implemented. These are some scenarios/things that need to be looked at before we see a real change. (Found some of these in spread out Reddit posts)

    1. What happens in a divorce? If money is to be split up. How can there be proof of how much litecoin a husband or wife has? Especially if he has a secret hidden hardware wallet. (We'd need to create a new tax and report system accustomed to litecoin)

    2. What happens if I get robbed or hacked? If someone holds me at gunpoint and makes me give up all my litecoin to an address. I can't get it back, and there's no insurance on the coin for stuff like this.

    3. What happens if I make a purchase, and during the time the purchase is going through I empty my account and leave? What happens to big companies who get scammed this way?

    4. Implementation into the real world- older people tend to not be so tech savvy, and honestly as someone tech savvy myself I still find I have to do some research on this to find the best wallet options, best exchanges, places to complete transactions etc. there needs to be a simplification of it to be accepted widely.

    5. Salaries- until litecoin stabilizes, no companies will be willing to pay employees in litecoin in fear the price will rise and they'll be out money. For the time being they'll pay in fiat to prevent losses. Also would they pay us in bitcoin or litecoin? Would we use both? How would we go about this?

    6. Purchases/lightning network- to make transactions immediate and safe from scams, there needs to be a way to purchase something and have a verified transaction in seconds. Otherwise it's not viable.

    7. What happens if you're at a gas station in the mountains and want to buy a drink but there's no service? How can you make a transaction? No wifi means no internet which means no transaction.

    8. An idea for quick transactions, especially if a phone is dead of if there's no connection is to print out paper, spendable litecoin. Let's say I have a paper worth 1 litecoin (number 1 for simplicity) and want to buy a drink. I could have a 1 litecoin paper piece and give it to the cashier, who could then hold onto it knowing for a fact it has the 1 ltc value. This would mean we need to find a way to attach nonaccessable wallets to the bill so that you can't withdrawal. It would only go to a verified address known to have been a part of the transaction, which the cashier would have to report. (I know, a lot of work to be done to get there) Could also have a type of credit card contraption that works, although I'm not sure how to go about this with no wifi. I'm sure someone has this answer.

I believe in litecoin and crypto fully, but questions like this make me realize we're not as close to using it as we think. Technology has a ways to go and while I could see it being used in 50 years or so, I don't see it being viable just yet, other than for online purchases or for specific shops. I don't see places like Walmart picking it up anytime soon, and to make sure they eventually do, we need to solve some of these issues. I think millennials will see the first serious use of crypto, but I doubt anyone over the age of 50 will see it really be implemented. Still smart to buy as an investment in that case though.

    "You should get into litecoin"

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:56 AM PST

I was at this wedding and chatting with people at my table, and someone mentioned that the guy at the end of the table was into crypto. He was a bit of a character, not just because of the way he was dressed or wearing sunglasses indoors or his east coast accent (we are in the west coast) but he had the gift of the gab, shooting the Sh#t with everyone at the table - a mix bag of tv writers, comedians, some tech guys (it was an eclectic wedding). But I chatted with him, not mentioning I was invested a little in crypto. I asked him what he does and he helps ICO's launch. I'm not going to tell you which ones, because I don't remember and even if I did i'm not here to shill them... but he was talking about how archaic the tech on bitcoin was, but because it was the first to "market" it's the best known and has the network effect going for it. And through a little bit of a drawl he stopped what he was saying and said "you know, you realllllly should get into litecoin. It's like bitcoin but waaaaay better. It fixed a lot of the issues bitcoin has and is stable. That's the one you should be looking at."

He didn't shill any of the coins he helped launch but mentioned they were big altcoins. It was just interesting that he took the time to mention litecoin by name, even though he had about a dozen coins he's been involved with. (and likely not involved with litecoin.)

Just wanted to share. It's nice litecoin is seen as a solid crypto with all the altcoins out there.

Coinfloor are bringing LTC & XRP! to their portfolio of products.

This is very good news for UK based peeps. Coinfloor is a decent way to convert fiat to crypto in the UK. Just a shame they have upped their minimum deposit (£2.5k)

    Segwit address

Got a ledger nano s. I see a segwit option within the ltc wallet. Is it a good idea for me to use this? What are the advantages and disadvantages? I see coinbase can't send to segwit, but if there are advantages I don't see I would like to know.

Fastest way to buy LTC and get it to an exchange?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:48 AM PST

The first time I ever bought crypto was on Coinbase and the process takes about a week, regardless of which coin. I like Litecoin, and I remember it only took about 10 minutes to transfer from gdax to an exchange, but is there any faster way to actually purchase without paying astronomical fees or risking losing it? The week it takes for the purchase to go through on Coinbase feels like a year in crypto-time

Some advice as relatively new to crypto currencies

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 10:44 AM PST

So I've recently in the last month been researching crypto currencies generally. After researching plenty of coins, from an outsiders perspective, litecoin has by far the most suitable technology for the purpose of a currency.

Therefore, I have invested and currently own circa 25 LTC which I have gathered over the last few weeks.

My advice is, should I spread my investment or just HODL with LTC?

I plan to invest each month for cost averaging, I think litecoin will prevail in the long run, however nothing is certain.

Any intelligent opinions will be appreciated

I am ecstatic that the community is growing and crypto currency is getting so much attention, but I am reading these posts more and more lately in every social media platform, and it's driving me nuts!

These people that are entering into a crypto currency investment - namely Litecoin - and don't see it go up 20% everyday, and then complain about it, drive me crazy!

Thank you for letting me vent...

Charlie Lee is the Elon Musk of Crypto

    Posted: 26 Dec 2017 01:14 PM PST

Ok, the name title sounds ridiculous, but please hear me out.

I'm one of those guys who was a big Elon follower since his early days (before Tesla/SpaceX blew up in the mainstream), one of the dudes who actually bought his biography, intensely watched all his interviews, etc.. A.K.A. I was a huge Elon fan (still am), but, you get the point..

Ever since I started investing in Crypto in the summer time (when Litecoin was around $40), I've been trying to dig more info around the guys involved in Crypto, and the two main ones who stuck out to me were Vitalik and Charlie Lee. Here are my opinions..

Vitalik, although seemingly extremely smart, I just find it very hard to bond with him/comprehend his thoughts. IMO he's very robotic in his ways, difficult to interpret, tough to really make out what he's saying (speaking on behalf of the common person). Difficult for a common person to establish a connection with him and his ideas IMO. To a genius, all of what he says may make perfect sense, but what about the common, you-and-me 99% of the crowd?

Charlie Lee, on the other hand, seems to explain things in such a way where it just clicks and seems to simply be incredibly honest and straight-forward. He's a very smart guy but tends to find the way to explain complicated concepts into a simple manner (which is a sign of intelligence all on its own). Seriously also reminds me of how Elon talks about his challenges/straight-forwardly speaks about how failure is definitely a possibility. Actually heard Elon say a few months ago that the Tesla stock price is definitely too high compared to what it should be (Charlie Lee said something similar about LTC a few weeks ago and people were freaking out). The common ground is that they're both pretty honest about their thoughts, straight-to-the-point, both very vision-driven, "no BS'ing" type of guys. Musk talks about his companies being like raising his babies, Charlie Lee talks about LTC being his baby (alright.. maybe i'm going a little too far now).

I just really think that personality-wise, they're both very similar. It takes me a while to really gain trust in somebody, and Charlie Lee is pretty high up there on the list of people I trust in (regarding Crypto). I'm extremely excited for LTC, it's future, and everything that's going to come with it. Going all on board with Lee, and I think you should too. Merry Christmas.
