Posted: 25 Dec 2017 01:58 AM PST What do y'all use to monitor your rigs for downtime. I'm currently mining Monero at Nanopool and would like to get an e-mail alert if the miner goes down. What's the best way to do that? [link] [comments]
How do you guys manage what coin to mine ? Posted: 25 Dec 2017 06:13 AM PST Hello miners, let me explain: A few days I was mining ETH+DCR, but after a few fluctuations music coin, ubiq and others were more valuable than ETH+DCR. In this case, you just stop mining eth+dcr and immediately start mining others, or you continue mining until a payout and them move to other. I'm asking because the price fluctuates a lot and you start mining a lot of coins and in the end you mine a little of everything but dont reach the payout for anything. How do you guys manage your mining ? Sorry if the explanation was confusing. [link] [comments]
Possible to run 6 x 1070ti on a single 1200w PSU? Posted: 25 Dec 2017 06:05 AM PST I see a lot of dual PSU rigs and I can't figure out why. In theory 6x180 < 1200w, but most people seem to be running it on 2x750w. Pls enlighten me. [link] [comments]
Awesome Miner + Zpool (Numbers not correct?) Posted: 25 Dec 2017 05:50 AM PST Hi, I'm currently using a 1050 Ti to mine (Awesome Miner with Zpoo)l. AM says I'm getting ~ $1+ USD per day (~$1.50 avg), but zpool wallet shows that i'm getting ~$0.60 USD per day. Even with the 2% fee it shouldn't be this low, does anyone know why there is such a big difference? [link] [comments]
Hardware failure rates, reliability, downtime, and warranties Posted: 24 Dec 2017 07:11 PM PST Hi, I'm generally curious about what sort of reduced hardware reliability and increased failure rates one can expect when operating GPUs in a mining machine at close to 100% processing capability, 24/7. I'm hoping to start a discussion on the topic if one is merited. To kick it off, some of the questions I have off the top of my head are: 1) What hardware failures have you experienced, and what were the causes? 2) How frequent are failures for medium to large size operations (roughly 6 or more GPUs)? Can I expect a significantly lower life expectancy for a GPU used in a mining rig vs. consumer gaming or other typical usage? 3) How critical is die temperature for reliability? What do you do to reduce it? 4) Should one be worried about purchasing used hardware with no product warranty? 5) Is it possible for mining to void the warranty of a graphics card? 6) Differences in warranty policies between hardware vendors? 7) What can one do to ensure their rig is operating in a more reliable manner? 8) Other than the GPUs, what else has caused you downtime? 1.5 MM $ crypto mine investment. Is is it worth it? Posted: 25 Dec 2017 04:52 AM PST Hello guys, Edit: I am not looking for any business advice. The money I am investing is my problem. I am looking for technical opinions on this matter. At the end of the day I am managing my investments and I handle the losses and the profits as well. I am not relying on a reddit topic to make a 1.5 MM $ investment decision. I know that there are many good professionals here, and I want to hear what they have to says based on their experience. .... The story behind this is the following. We are a group of investors looking to make a 1.5 MM $ investment in a crypto mine. However, we don't have the technical knowledge. We have hired some tech guys handling the code, the hardware and a crypto mining manager (with some experience beforehand), who will handle the purchasing operation of the hardware and the daily operations as well. Our mining manger says that we will get our investment back in maximum a year at this pace of price in crypto. Some tech details I have for now: Power-plant power: 2.5 MW - for this I think we can have around 1600 - 1700 miners (true?)
P.S.: I am an trader and an investor in the crypto. Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Dec 2017 08:18 PM PST So I've been noticing a lot of people using Server Power Supplies with their rigs lately. Personally I have been using either EVGA or Corsair 1200W 80+ Platinum PSUs (whatever is available) with my rigs and they seem to be running fine. Now, I've noticed a HUUUUUUUGE price difference between the PSU I use and these server PSUs you can find on eBay or other sites. So my questions: What's the deal with Server PSUs? Pros? Cons? As I'm looking to do a big expansion on my mine, should I be looking at these? Thanks for any help and Merry X-Mas! [link] [comments]
How the upcoming months of Ethereum will affect AMD cards profit's Posted: 25 Dec 2017 12:02 AM PST With the difficulty of Ethereum mining about to skyrocket (difficulty bomb/upcoming Ice Age) this will likely lead to many AMD miners venturing to other coins on Ethhash/Equihash algorithims. Do you think this will lead to increased difficulty / lower profits of said coins as Ethereum has such a large Net Hash compared to other altcoins? This has been on my mind, as I have been looking into buying a RX580 rig but this upcoming issue for Ethereum is making me think twice as the majority of Ethereum miners are running AMD obviously. Would it be a better idea long term to get a NVIDIA rig to avoid this likely drop in mining profit in a few months? Or do you see Ethereum miners changing coin as a non issue to other altcoins profits? [link] [comments]
Second Power Supply on = No keyboard detected. Help! Posted: 25 Dec 2017 07:23 AM PST Hello! I am putting together a 6x 1080ti mining rig.. I have 2x 1200W PSU each powering 3 risers/cards. Everything works perfect with a single power supply hooked up but as soon as I hook up the second, with a splitter off of amazon, my motherboard stops seeing USB devices. Has anyone ever experienced this? Edit: It will boot as long as no graphics cards are in. I tried all 3 cards in all 3 slots and as soon as 1 is plugged in it will no longer detect the keyboard. Very usual and not sure what to do about it. [link] [comments]
What is ccminer on simpleminer? Posted: 25 Dec 2017 07:20 AM PST Hey guys, new miner here with a quick question. Im going through the rig list options on simplermineros and saw ccminer under nvidia, what algo does ccminer work with? and does anyone here use it on simpleminer? [link] [comments]
Claymore ETH only mining performance is subpar or am I doing it wrong Posted: 24 Dec 2017 11:49 PM PST I am new to gpu mining and so far I was mining with ethminer. I decided to give claymore a try (mainly because everyone on youtube videos seems to be using it). So I let it run for 8 hours. Here's some stats: https://imgur.com/NfmmdQ8 You can see the green reported hashrate - that's exactly the timespan when claymore was mining, all the time before and after was mined with ethminer. Nevermind the downspin and a gap on the left hand side — I was playing with simpleminig os and stuff. So, why so many people using claymore if the hashrate is nowhere as good as free ethminer? Another worrying bit is the amount of stale hashes which I never seen this consistently bad with ethminer. I was using claymore miner with -mode1 and all the recommended command line options suggested by ethermine.org instructions. My rig is running on 3x1070ti with OC +150/+500. [link] [comments]
2x 8GPU rigs, almost impossible to get working stable Posted: 25 Dec 2017 01:12 AM PST All 16 cards are Sapphire RX 570 Nitro+ 4GB (Elpida) (although one uses a 512kB BIOS, the others 256kB) ASRock H110 BTC 13GPU mobos Each rig has EVGA 1600W G2 PSUs Max 2 risers pr rail, mostly 6-pin to SATA , or direct SATA in riser Risers are 13x 008s,with LED, 3x 006C (i think) Windows 10,newest updates Blockchain driver of aug 23rd Dual ETC/LBC right now with claymore 10.2 BIOS used are gathered from anorak.tech forums, and fickled with myself One rig is BIOS modded and running fairly fine (225MH/s ETC and ~600MH/s LBC) with afterburner reporting ~100watt draw per card. The other i just can't get stable on same settings.. Rigs are identical in every aspect I can think of.. Please help? I'll provide any information you need, and there is a reward for help that provides a solution to my woes I just want a stable rig that can mine for days/months without being babied :) [link] [comments]

Can't decide between 8x1070ti or 5x1080ti. Help? Posted: 24 Dec 2017 03:34 PM PST Hi guys, currently picking out parts for a new build and can't decide between 1070to and 1080ti. Price wise it's almost exactly the same, the only differences being power requirements/number of risers etc needed. I generally only mine altcoins, and I'm more than happy adding new pools and finding the new, most profitable coin daily. Does the 1070ti do better on any algorithms or anything I should be aware of with gddr5 vs gddr5x? If you were in my situation, what would you pick? Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Dec 2017 09:00 PM PST I have three different GPUs (amd 270, 1060, 1070 ti) and I set up a profit profile for all three different GPUs on AM. When I go to bench the 1070 ti on ccminer, i get an error (non-existant cuda device #2 specified in -d option) I have changed and removed all the command line parameters in the mining software configure (the parameters I entered to seperate the two cards), but i still have the same issue. My 1060 has no issues running it. The 1060 was on a riser, i moved it to the board and put the 1070 on the riser but that didn't fix the problem. I also went into the log file folder and removed the ccminer files to hopefully force the software to reload ccminer. That didnt work either. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Dec 2017 02:29 AM PST I bough Nvidia 1060, 6gb. I have been mining Monero with my Ryzen and 1060 6gb (~ 1.2KH). This is the most profitable way to use my hardware ? Electricity is not a problem. [link] [comments]
Your experiences with RX 580 4GB Posted: 24 Dec 2017 03:35 PM PST I got one of these cards but the results have been pretty disappointing so far using stock clocks etc, but a tweaked mining configuration. I'm mining XMR and getting about 580 H/s. At the same time my HD 7950 is getting 418 H/s. The same ratio seems to apply if you check out past earnings on nicehash. Is this card really that bad? I got it because I thought it would do around 1000 H/s but now I'm not so sure where I got that idea from. [link] [comments]
Thoughts on rig and profitability Posted: 24 Dec 2017 11:55 PM PST Hey everyone, I've been reading bits and bobs and was wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts on mining on my rig. CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 GPU: AMD R9 390 (Gigabyte) PSU: EVGA 650W I've read that AMD cards are great for mining, and so I was wondering what a good coin is to start mining when I'm not using my PC, one which return a decent amount with my PC. Cheers [link] [comments]
Is there a non mining motherboard that can handle at least 10 GPU's? Posted: 24 Dec 2017 11:05 PM PST I want to have a rig with 10 1080ti's, however I am not seeing a board that can handle that many gpus. The mining boards that I have seen are all sold out or are selling for $500+. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Dec 2017 09:51 PM PST I have been looking around for risers for my 6 x 1080ti build. I will be using 2 x 750wg3, and 1 x 850w g3. I searched around for many different risers and I don't know which ones are safe and which ones I should use. Please help. [link] [comments]
Awesome Miner / MPM experience Posted: 24 Dec 2017 03:47 PM PST would just like to ask those of you who switched to Awesome Miner or MPM from the traditional way of mining a coin, what is your experience with it? does it earn you that type of coin faster via its profit switching mining or did you get better results simply mining that specific coin via traditional methods? I've been told it's about 15-20% faster but so far, comparing my earnings after 20 hours, the traditional method was better. although yes, I know that mining other coins then exchanging all of them to another type of coin is not quite an immediate process (referring here to the Auto Exchange feature on mining pool hub). basically, I'd just like to know if I'm impatient or inefficient! thanks, Merry Christmas! :) [link] [comments]
Not many posts here about air conditioning. Considering a cheap wall/window unit for small "farm" Posted: 24 Dec 2017 05:27 PM PST 55gpu's now and the heat is real. Unseasonably warm weather here (55 F) has me worried for what's to come in the summer, as some of the cards in my rigs are pushing 70c. I've underclocked for the time being, but given they're in a room with no ceiling in a 20' high ceiling warehouse on open air racks with plenty of space between them, i'm concerned about taking steps now to keep them cool. I've heard the name of the game isn't putting cold air onto GPU's, but removing the heat. However, with 4x box fans, one 30" floor fan, and 3 small blowers, i'm still having trouble removing the heat. I'm consdering putting in a wall/window AC unit and running a drainline outside (drag under 10ft). A 5000btu unit is rated for a room 150sq ft which is about the size of the rig room and my thought is the cooler air should "sink" to stay in the room. if not, I can simply plastic over the ceiling to seal it in and exhaust the heat through a duct. Has anyone implemented supplemental cooling in addition to heat removal? What were your results? [link] [comments]
What are the "puzzles" that the GPUs are solving? Posted: 24 Dec 2017 02:54 PM PST https://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2015/01/economist-explains-11 When the article explains Crypto mining , it states that they are solving puzzles to figure out where the transactions go within the block, or algorithms. But what I don't get is what are these algorithms?? If XY sent 1 BTC to YZ at 1:14 , how hard is it to put it into a block with the other transactions? What are they actually doing?
