    Watercooling a vega56?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:14 AM PST

Just wondering if anyone does this and cares to share their advice/part list. Think about getting a 4xvega64 rig, but noise is a concern. Have only found the EK blocks, and don't own any other kit from before.

Riser cards causing MASSIVE drop in hashrate

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 02:01 AM PST

Hey all, so I've just built my first mining rig. I've been troubleshooting this thing all day trying to find out why my hashrates are so low. For example, trying to mine monacoin with 2 GTX970s, I was getting about 4-8MH/s with each, whereas I was getting 20MH/s each when they were in my gaming rig. I went ahead and just plugged them directly into the motherboard, and they are now hashing at 20MH/s again.

When using my AMD cards (2 RX570, 1 RX580) to mine eth, I was expecting 22-28MH/s from each card, but I'm instead only getting around 15MH/s each. I'm willing to bet swapping them to the motherboard would fix the issue, but haven't tried it yet because the nvidia cards are in there.

They are powered risers, btw. I thought riser cards weren't supposed to cause hash rates to drop? Any ideas here?

I made a spreadsheet using Whattomine data to determine Nvidia GPU efficiency

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:02 PM PST

*Only uses my 5 most-frequently-used algorithms

*Does not include data for 1070Ti because whattomine.com has not added the required data yet.

Summary: GTX 1060 (6GB) is the best overall, GTX 1050Ti is the most price efficient (price of card only), and the GTX 1060 (6GB) is the most energy efficient.

    AwesomeMiner Lyra2z - can't benchmark/run

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:30 AM PST

I can't get Lyra2z to run through AwesomeMiner. I don't see Lyra2z as an algorithm to check in the list, but it does have Lyra2RE, not sure if those are the same thing. On the online services page, I don't see a url line set-up for Lyra2z and i'm not sure if it can get estimated profit data from whattomine.com since it's not one of the default coins.

    Any help would be appreciated!

PSU Question - Molex to SATA for SSD

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 01:23 AM PST

I am planning on getting a Corsair Rmx Series Rm1000X 1000W psu for a 6x GTX1060 rig with Molex powered risers. The PSU has 6x PCI-E and 6 x6-pin power ports.

Going to need to purchase an extra 3x 6-pin to Molex cables separately for the cards as there are only 3 of these with the PSU. There are official Corsair ones I can get.

This will work perfectly to power each GPUS with 1x PCI-E and 1x 6-pin Molex. BUT how do I power the SSD harddrive (SATA)? There will be no more ports on the PSU so I will need to use one of the 6-pin to Molex that is on a GPU. This will mean using an molex to sata adoptor. Is this safe? I have read a lot about the fire dangers with Sata to Molex, but since this is to the SSD which is like 2watts is there still a danger?

    EDIT: Or should I get 2x Corsair RM650x ?

    4U gpu server

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:36 AM PST

Good morning, I work for company, which provides cloud services. We plan on building GPU server(s), which will be doing GPU heavy tasks - mostly AI and hopefully mining in spare time.

I know there are many comercial pre-build machines, but to be honest, they are way overpriced. I want to build it myself. Want to fit 4-8 gpus, probably GTX 1080 Ti's reference designs - cooling reasons. The most challenging thing will be finding right MOBO and case. For tasks like this we want to use pci-e x16. So I will probably have to use risers, which are x16 to x16. There are not many mobos, which provide that many x16 slots. :( Do you have any tips, where to start? Thanks

For chassis id like to use something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811147154

but they are pretty hard to get in Europe, will have to find different one probably.

    Mining rig from spare parts?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 04:26 AM PST

Hey GPU mining, I was wondering if it was a viable idea to make a rig from alle the spare parts I own. All I need to buy is the Mother board. I currently own 2 970s and 2 750s. Would it be worth it to buy a Gigabyte H110-D3A and just build a rig? I'm planning to use the coins mined to add GPUs and upgrade the 750s. Thanks in advance for the replies.

HUGE PROBLEM WITH MY RIG - PLEASE HELP

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 01:51 AM PST

    Hello guys so a week ago I bought myself a mining rig: 2× 1000W Platinum PSU ASRock H110 + Pro BTC 6x GTX1060 4GB RAM 6xPCIE3.0

So when i first assembled it,there were only 5 of the GPUs working.Despite the fact that 6 GTX1060 drivers were installed, only 5 worked. The GPU that didn't work was visually working,I mean fans were rotating, but it wouldn't mine. I tried a lot of things, and a weird thing I found is that if I change the GPUs' positions, the GPU that won't work changes, and still remains 5 or less that work. This morning when I woke up i found my rig turned off,and when i turned it on,only 4 out of 6 GPUs could mine.

THE WEIRDEST THING IS THAT I installed MSI Afterburner to see what's happening, and it's totally inexplicable for me this fking thing:i run the Afterburner, and all 6 GPUs seem to work,it shows me fan rotation, temperature and so on,but exactly in the moment when i run ccminer or any other mining program,BOOM,Afterburner shows on 2 of my GPUS temperature 0,fan rotation 0 and so on.

PLEASE HELP ME,IF ANYONE FINDS A SOLUTION I GIVE HIM 10$.

Anyone ever have GPU fans making noise? How can I fix this?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:00 PM PST

I've had four 280x Sapphire GPUs running for awhile now, and one of the fans has begun clicking against the side of the front panel or the heat sink; I'm not sure which.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of problem before? The fan is working fine, the rig is still cool, but it makes a benign noise that I can't ignore. If I were to remove the fan entirely, what kind of an impact would that have on GPU temperature?

    MultiPoolMiner mining to different accounts

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:53 PM PST

I've been noticing that MPM isn't hitting anywhere close to the estimated profits it's claiming to increase for me. While it's claiming it's algorithm will get me 0.39 mBTC and straight mining the top coin will get me 0.25 mBTC, I'm still averaging less than 0.20 mBTC per day. After restarting MPM to see if I can benchmark the nicehash nodes that have been turned back on, I noticed a couple algorithm changed and then this... PIC

While I have donations set to 0, since I can't seem to hit anywhere near the estimated mining levels MPM is supposed to do, I've noticed my mining is switching to accounts for 'aaronsace' and 'fonyo'. Did I miss something where other accounts are somehow getting priority mining before I start different algorithms? I know Claymore's DualMiner has something like a 1-2% fee included for basically increasing the hashing return rate of using that program, but I don't recall seeing losses build in to using MPM. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there something I can change to keep this from happening and maybe get somewhere close to the returns that MPM is claiming that i can't even get close to otherwise?

First Rig (need advice) Which GPU?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 12:10 AM PST

So, I've been researching and buying new parts for my first cryptocurrency mining rig, but, I'm just torn on which graphics card I should buy. Where I live, the RX 580 8GB is around $400AUD and the Gtx 1070 is $545AUD. I could either get around 10 RX580s or 7 1070s (or 8 if I buy some used ones) for $4000 (budget of my graphics cards.) I dont care about which cryptocurrency I mine, just the one that makes the most money. I've also heard about dual mining and I can make some more money off that. I'm just looking for a GPU that can make the most money (including electricity costs). My electricity cost is 0.17cAUD. Or if they're any other GPUs, please throw some suggestions my way.

Also I'm thinking of getting a server psu because its cheaper and is built for 24/7 usage. Would I need any extra adapters or anything to make it work with the rig? Thanks

    Question about powering cards.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:28 PM PST

I'm trying to power 2 1070 ti and a 1060 with a 580w (504w on the 12v rail) psu but it only has two 8 pin pcie connectors daisy chained from the same cable as opposed to the 5 needed to power the cards. I was wondering if it's safe to power the second 8 pin headers on the 1070ti with a dual or single molex to 8 pin adapter, since the cards probably won't ever get close to actually drawing 300w of power from the psu.

Too afraid to OC, need encouragement

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:15 PM PST

    Your casual clueless first-timer here,

Just finished building a gaming rig around a discounted Vega 64 I found during BF.

Thought I'll let it mine during the nights and scrape me some gold dust that will be reinvested in dirt-cheap cryptocurrencies in hopes they will catch on.

I am really tempted to tinker with the voltage and OC the hbm2 to make this endeavor somewhat cost-effective, but I'm afraid of voiding my warranty - I've read so many reviews of people who's GPU died within the first 6 month of purchase (regardless of OCing), so beside the fear of frying the GPU myself I'm also scared of some defect that won't be covered if I change anything.

Please tell me why my fears are unrealistic.

    Also -

Will undervolting my GPU give me significant savings (considering I have only 1 GPU and a beefy system)?

Could you give an educated guess of the potential profitability of this rig? So far I'm getting around $5-6 a day using NiceHash.

    Sorry for my shitty English.

Safety check on 8 GPU rig

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:17 PM PST

    Hey guys,

I believe my calculations were correct but not looking to risk my house.

    1000w and 750w PSU

    1x 1070, 5x 1070 ti, 2x 1080 ti

Some raiser safety concern with raisers

Two m.2 raisers powered by a 4 pin to molecular Two raisers powered by 6 pin to sata

Now I believe that all should be ok although I'll be monitoring cables for heat,

what worries me is will my PSUs be able to power this

    1 1080 ti, 2x 1070 ti + mobo/SSD etc in one 750w is that overloaded?

    On the 1000w it is 1 x 1080 ti, 3 x 1070 ti and one mini 1070

If I'm undervolting everything I believe I should be ok - would really appreciate some advice.

Has anyone ever done business with homemarket24.life?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:15 PM PST

    https://www.homemarket24.life

This website showed up from google searches for cards that are sold out or overpriced everywhere else. From some more investigating I determined that this is a pretty new site, since only July of this year. Could not find any references to them from searching some other PC-building forums. Anyone ever order from them? I'd like to get confirmation on trustworthyness before I drop $1k+ on parts.

    Thanks

Online shop "waikey.com" is a scam

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:59 AM PST

They currently list riserless motherboards, cases, PSUs, etc on their online shop. Items which are only currently available via alibaba and aliexpress.

But there are many red flags on their site:

    1. They supposedly have multiple stores in Beverly Hills and LA, but I live in LA and I've never seen/heard of them
    2. If you do a WHOIS lookup on their domain (which doesn't even match the name of the store), it points to an address in China
    3. You can't pay with credit card; only PayPal

There are many other red flags on the site which indicate it was created by someone who's likely never set foot in America. But I don't want to include all of them here, in case they find this post and use it as a way to fix their mistakes!

    Buyer beware!

Help running 240 Volt circuits to power rigs in the US

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:39 PM PST

I've been all over different forums and lots of different opinions back and forth about European countries using 2 phase vs 1 phase 240V in the US (since we run 2 120V hot leads to make 240V in residential electric), and whether that translates to being safe or not safe (or even working vs not working) to run a computer power supply on 240V in the US.

So I'm completely confused, and I need help because that's exactly what I want to do. Does anyone run their rig farm on 240V circuits in the US, if so, how did you wire it, where did you get the parts, etc.
