- Ether transferred to shapeshift? I thought last week I transferred eth to my ledger, but after pulling it up today, it appears my ether went to shapeshift? Im extremely confused as it’s no longer showing in my wallet. Any input or help? Thanks

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 11:43 AM PST Hello Ethereum Community, Any wine lovers here?) With my team, we are developing a trustful recommendation service for wine, backed by ML and NLP. There will be subscription model using DAO and customer will be able to get, periodically, sets of recommended wine. Of course, this "trustfulness" will be ensured by smart contracts. I'm interested in your opinion on the subject so please feel free to comment. Peace! PS NO ICO, NO TOKENS!!! Just Ether 😉 [link] [comments]

Still learning about PoS.. How exactly does it work? Posted: 16 Dec 2017 11:44 AM PST Under proof of work, transactions are put in a block until that block is mined which confirms all the transactions in that block (lemme know if I'm wrong). Under proof of stake, it eliminates miners, by users staking in their eth, which some how opens the blocks which confirm those transactions? I've read a lot about it but it's hard to understand. Thanks for any help! [link] [comments]

Question about adding my node to ethstats.net Posted: 16 Dec 2017 04:12 PM PST Hello, Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am very new to all of this. I bought a raspberry pi and have gotten my node up and running using geth. I would like to link my node to ethstats.net following these instructions. https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Network-Status Everything works except when I get to the part where they say "Then edit the app.json file in it to configure for your node:" I can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the app.json file to edit it. I have installed node.js with npm and everything already Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Mist instabilities - 100% CPU and RAM usage Posted: 16 Dec 2017 01:54 PM PST I've been running and maintaining a full node since Mist was first released. Over the past few weeks Mist has been consuming 100% CPU and 100% RAM on my 8th gen quad core i7 with 16GB RAM. It dies at some point and I've had to begin using MEW for basic wallet functions. Is this a kitty issue or something else? Not really a complaint since I've been through these issues over the years but I don't see a whole lot of talk about the current issue. I've noticed that if I delete all Watched Tokens it stabilizes until I add them back. Thanks [link] [comments]
Beginner looking for ether wallet recommendations. Posted: 16 Dec 2017 08:01 PM PST I've previously been mostly into bitcoin, so I'm not new to cryptocurrencies, but I don't know what my choices are as far as wallets go. I'm looking for a desktop wallet on windows OS. Can I get some wallet recommendations or sites that explain differences between different wallets? [link] [comments]
Is It Safe To Delete All Ethereum Folders/Applications on OSX If Keystore File is Backed Up? Posted: 16 Dec 2017 11:15 AM PST My computer (Macbook Air) has been out of space forever with 100 GB or so devoted to "System" storage. I finally used the free trial of DaisyDisk and found that over 70 GB of my storage is going to chaindata. I have several versions of Mist and several Ethereum folders (assuming all with diff chaindata storage). But I have the only two keystore files I use on my desktop, and also backed up on flash drives. So is it safe for me to just delete everything Ethereum-related on my hard drive and continue to use MEW with the keystore files? I'm paranoid so wanted to confirm here before doing it lol. An idea for the CryptoKitties problem Posted: 16 Dec 2017 12:27 AM PST Although the CryptoKitties craze has died down a bit, there is still the open issue of exactly why it had such a drastic effect on Ethereum. To understand this, we need to dig a bit into how the CryptoKitties platform actually works: Each CryptoKitty has a unique Gene sequence which is a 256 bit value that is decoded on their website into a set of various attributes. To make a new CryptoKitty, two kitties can "breed" whereby their genes are mixed together plus some randomness (via the block number) to produce a new gene sequence. The problem is that this mixing process occurs entirely on-chain and turns out to be a rather expensive operation (~250000 gas). When kitty prices are soaring, everyone wants to crank out as many kitties as possible and are willing to pay insane rates to do so. Of course this prices out everyone who just wants to send their funds/tokens around, and we're all stuck waiting for the CryptoKitties website to crash so we can actually use the network. If you step back and think about it for a second, it's a bit crazy to be doing this wildly expensive operation on-chain and wasting large chunks of block space to do so. As an alternate idea, why not include the ability for oracles to determine the gene sequence of the new cat? This oracle could run the same solidity code as the actual mixing operation, but do it off chain, and simply present the chain with the completed calculation. Of course this alone isn't really a satisfactory solution, since we've now added a significant point of centralization to the whole thing. So you allow anyone else to double check the work of the oracle. If anyone can prove that the oracle has done something wrong (by running the birthing code on-chain, and thus demonstrating the inconsistency), then they receive a bounty paid out from the main contract and the cat is restored to its proper form. The idea is that most cats will be correct and thus the birthing code won't ever need to run on-chain, and the website will likely run an honest oracle in order to avoid paying the bounty. Of course the previous on-chain functionality can remain as a back-up, in case the oracle goes down. Thoughts? Edit: As a refinement to this idea, we could allow anyone to submit a potential solution for a gene mixing result, with a stake (of ETH) that certifies the validity of the computation. If the result is disputed, the stake is given to the disputer. After some timeout, the stake is available to be reclaimed by the person who submitted the result, under the assumption that no-one is going to dispute it. They then receive a portion of the birthing fee. [link] [comments]

Miner is running and connected to pool but pool isn't showing that miner is connected. Posted: 16 Dec 2017 05:41 PM PST Hey guys. I'm completely at a loss at this point. My miner is running and it is connected to the pool but when I go to my wallet address on the pool it shows that nothing is connected. I'm using ethOS and I'll leave the diagnostics reports at the end of this post but it feels like I've tried everything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
