Is plasma just a proof of concept? What are the chances of its success? Doesn't it completely solve the scaling issues of ethereum? Alos isnt Omisego (OMG) one of the premier ethereum projects and the first one to implement plasma?

Resources for cryptoeconomics & a call for improvement.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2017 07:38 PM PST

There's a post from Vitalik from eight or so months ago which asks what they can do for the community and people who want to join in on the project and learn.

I feel like we need something about the "cryptoeconomics" of the whole project and I'd like the community to share, I'll do my part of the lifting, I hope others will join. Since I'm an econ student, I'm gonna point at things I understand or try to understand.

Resources to understand the economics of this environment.

Vitalik Buterin and Vlad Zamfir Medium pages, they're both very well articulated.

Someone already tried to assemble some resources here : https://dapp-studies.gitbooks.io/cryptoeconomics/content/resources.html

On the Ethereum YT channel, some talks and from that point on

    Schelling's "the strategy of conflict".

This thread which focuses more on Game theory.

The slides from one of Vitalik's talk

Inceptionsince I'm referencing this article which references articles in this thread.

Papers by Micali and Poeltra, to be honest, I don't understand a lot of what's in those.

Thank you, I hope to see a lot fo input from the community.

    Ethereum and Game Theory

    Posted: 18 Dec 2017 03:20 AM PST

I have a BSc in Economics and my favourites subjects were game theory and microeconomics. I would like to expand my knowledge on game theory in ways that can be more applicable to Ethereum and blockchain. What resources would you suggest?

My course was mostly based on: Games of Strategy by Avinash Dixit, Susan Skeath and David Reiley. I have also read some of Dixit's more casual books.

Weird tokens appearing in my wallets

    Posted: 18 Dec 2017 02:33 PM PST

    Hi,

I just discovered that two of my Ethereum addresses contain some tokens that have apparently been sent there a few months ago. Some OMG in one address, and some XNN in another. Does anybody know what this stuff is?

I have not yet got around to figuring out how tokens work and it they are worth looking into, so I certainly did not buy these. Are somebody throwing tokens around to advertise ??? The total amount is not completely insignificant (above 100$).

Any good place to read about how Ethereum tokens work?
