I've Been Challenged to Turn $20,000 into $500,000 Posted: 22 Dec 2017 06:40 PM PST Some backstory. I am a college student with college student money. I work part time and put away what I can into crypto so that I can expand my wealth over time. My father is a fairly successful business man. I've discussed with him many times the state of affairs of the crypto world, of which he is very skeptical. He's been offered to mine Bitcoin in it's nascent stages several times, but declined, so it isn't like he is an old get-off-my-lawn type of guy. We were sitting eating dinner and I made an off-hand comment about how I could make a lot of money with the value of 1 Bitcoin. To make a long story short, he told me to step up and do it. He said he'd write a check for $20,000 and challenge me to turn it into half a million by this time next year. This is a big challenge, especially for someone like me who has never handled money like that before. What advice do you all have for me as I take this on? Did I bite off more than I could chew? What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Dec 2017 08:53 AM PST I've only been in the crypto game for a couple of months now, but that means I've seen a few large dips in the market. EVERY time this happens, coinbase completely stops working, with nearly everyone unable to buy and sell. I'm not trying to buy or sell myself right now, but I feel like people are overlooking what a massive fucking problem this is. How are people supposed to take crypto seriously and feel like it's a legit investment when they can't move their coins every time the price drops a meaningful amount? People always complain a bit when this happens but it seems everyone gets over it pretty quickly. How is coinbase viewed as a trustworthy, legitimate actor in the space with this GLARING problem? Especially given the whole bitcoin cash fiasco that happened this week as well. [link] [comments]

ICX nearly half the daily volume of NEO whilst only tradable on Binance and Etherdelta Posted: 23 Dec 2017 12:23 AM PST Forget the fact how much it went since ICO, imagine you found this coin today. ICX Mainnet is deploying in a few weeks. Massive partnership reach. ICON is creating an ecosystem in Korea that matches what NEO is creating in China. This is not a NEO vs. ICX chat, this is just to highlight how ICX could pull another NEO. Fore more details info on ICX's capability check this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7kmtym/watch_out_for_icon_icx/ If you want any more indication of how strong ICX you must look at how strong it is performing vs. BTC in this current downtrend. Always look for strength in a bear market... [link] [comments]

When will btc pairing go away? Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:13 PM PST I hate how when btc "crashes" it causes the entire crypto market to follow suit. Obviously this is because all other coins are pegged to btc. What's it going to take for this to change ?? Btc sucks, the tech is outdated , energy consumption for mining is unsustainable , it's expensive and it's slow, yet it's the backbone of all the other alts. What's going to finally change this ?? BEWARE : DON’T EVER BUY PAPER WALLETS Posted: 22 Dec 2017 06:13 PM PST As stupid as it may seem for those of us who have been here for a while but I've seen some users of some coins subs that are asking how to use a paper wallet they bought. So this is a reminder and information to the really new people. Don't ever buy a paper wallet, There are many guides on how to create one, use those guides! Buying a paper wallet from EBay, Etsy and other auction type sites is possibly the dumbest thing to do. If you are to deposit money onto the wallet there's a 99% chance that the guy who sold it to you, printed out two copies so he can also use the wallet you think is yours. This means he can take all of your coins and there's nothing you can do about it. Don't be stupid, Make your own wallet or find an alternative. PS THIS IS WHY YOU DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GET INVOLVED WITH CRYPTO! [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Dec 2017 09:42 PM PST called the ethereum of Korea I was wondering what the members of this subreddit's opinion on icon coin was. This alt coin seems to be one of the few non-shitcoins that remained a decent price during the dip. Any input on the coin? is it going to be then next ETH/NEO or do you think its a flop. Personally, I am pretty bullish on this coin as I see mad potential in this coin. [link] [comments]
