I've decided to spread $4000 across 4 random coins picked by an RNG. Lets see how I do. Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:31 PM PST I'm gonna parse this by saying the folliowing, while I am a degenerate, I am not an addict. I just like to bet on sports and play Pot Limit Omaha. I'm not selling my kidneys so I can bet on the Super Bowl or anything. I also was in on cryptos pretty early and made enough money that I can make this gamble. I went all in on Ethereum around the time it was in the $10-15 range, hit it big and now I'm cashed in some of my profits to be a fucking degenerate. I think all the people - even the well spoken ones, who profess that their coin of choice is undervalued don't really understand what their talking about. I think the entire market is a bubble but I'm willing to bet that this bubble and ride it to the moon or die trying. Strategy: Use Random.org's RNG to generate a number from 1-50 3 times and 51-100 once to pick the fourth coin. Reason why I did this is because I'm reasonably confident that if I got 4 really high numbers, I'd end up with 4 bullshit coins and lose the entire investment. I'm gambling but I'm not looking to purposely lose money. The only coins excluded from this was Tether and any coin I already had money in (Ethereum, Factom, OMG, QRL). Buy and hold for a year. See how I do. That's it. The coins I picked ended up being:
Honestly, I'm glad I didn't get some shady sounding shit on the last one. I'll be back in a year (December 1st, 2018) to update you guys on my progress. Now as for the logic behind this (aside from pure degeneracy), I'm gonna run the RNG again using 5 coins on the Top 100 again but from December of 2016. Here's what I got:
If you had bet $1000 on each coin back on December 2016, your portfolio would now be worth.....$119,194.86. Now it IS possible to pick "good" coins and probably beat that return, for example if you just threw $5000 into Ethereum instead in 2016, you'd have around $300,000 now. But that's not really the point of this exercise, I just wanna see if a literal dartboard could make money here. You guys can run this game of Crypto Roulette yourselves with your own RNG if you want. Or if you want, use an RNG from to pick 5 coins from the 2016 Top 100 and see how long it takes you to lose money. The big risk here? Well, from 2015 to 2016, a good chunk of the Top 100 lost money. I'm basically banking on two things: The market continues to follow the general direction of Bitcoin and two, that this won't be another 2015. No shilling, no pretending I think all these coins are undervalued. Just throwing money at a board and seeing what works. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 01:44 PM PST Over the last few days, as bitcoin passed the symbolic threshold of 10,000 USD, it attracted the attention of the general media and social networks like never before. Bitcoin was big news on literally every media: television, newspapers, radio, Facebook,... On a more personal note, literally every person of my family and friends circle, and some more distant contacts, have told me about the news, asked me about Bitcoin, and even pretended to give me some advice :) In weeks to come, I expect television and paper magazines to dig further and the news will spread beyond Bitcoin to cover other cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is not any more this geeky hackery stuff of recent years, it has become, in a matter of days, an object of general public attention and use. With this change of status, one can expect an acceleration and intensification of the value movements of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. I fully expect Bitcoin to shoot up towards 50k$ much faster than we generally expected so far. But at the same time the lesser knowledge of the masses of new user will intensify downwards panic movements when they occur. Such variability will remain until Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies achieve their next step: becoming not only a financial instrument but also a fairly generalized payment tool, present and visible in, say, 1 out of 10 shops, online or brick & mortar. So dear hodlers, tighten your seatbelts, and enjoy the rough ride. There is eventually only one way: up. BTW, you wonder who will be Time's Man of the Year? Satoshi Nakamoto it is. DogeCoin Chart. I don't understand it. Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:38 PM PST It looks much different from other charts. I'm fairly new. Is there something special about the way dogecoin works? All the wicks are dead even and there doesnt seem to be much activity in the opening/closing prices. [link] [comments]
How do you determine if a coin/token is undervalued? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 10:38 PM PST How do you determine when a coin/token is undervalued? This space is so new and we are all learning from each other. Any ideas or suggestion helps. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Can someone ELI5 depth charts? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:00 PM PST Green are buys, like the number of people with a buy order of a crypto at that price? And reds are sells, number of people that will post a sell when the crypto is trading at that rate? And the smaller the wall is at one price (vertically) means only a small number of people buying/selling at that price? So theoretically, small red walls on a coin with large volume generally mean the price should be going up? [link] [comments]

How do exchanges determine the price for a given interval of time? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 11:30 AM PST I know if you use candlestick charts it shows you the high/low/open/close for the given time period but how do these sites calculate a single price for that period ie. when using line chart instead of candle sticks. Modum (MOD) will be at CES; the Consumer Electronics Show this January! Posted: 01 Dec 2017 11:14 AM PST This is actually a really big deal. I'm a humongous tech nerd, been following the latest tech trends for the past 10 years or so. That said, there are a few HUGE events to debut new tech. You have IFA in Berlin, MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, and CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Vegas. To be in attendance and showcasing their technology on this stage is a really, really big deal. It goes to show that MOD holders have invested in something real, something tangible and something that is going to be introduced to the masses and reported on in just over a month. CES starts January 9th. For a 30 Million Market Cap coin, this is really exciting. I am long MOD. [link] [comments]

PIVX/BTC Trends (14 day wedge compression) Posted: 01 Dec 2017 06:58 AM PST Using the setup (detailed below) we see an emerging compression triangle over the next 1-14 days. The 7hr average is currently being compressed by a downwards BTC 5.69% trend (orange line) and an upwards baseline support (green line). I expect trades to oscillate between this triangle for the next week before a major breakout emerges should PIVX 7 push past the 77hr and 231hr averages. Currently, charts are showing downward trends for both 77 and 231. Should 7hr averages remain stable (or increase), expect a passing threshold around Dec 9th-10th. Upwards of 150k spike, with new floor around 70-75k Sats. [link] [comments]
