The story how how Blockstream hijacked Bitcoin is an incredible story of money, lies and greed that becomes more and more relevant to the outside world every day; do you think this sub could get the attention of a Wall Street Journal reporter to write an exposé?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:07 PM PST

Maybe this sub could the attention of a good reporter from the Wall Street Journal and send them story of Blockstream in this link.

Maybe even Roger could use his resources to directly contact someone?

It's a very juicy story and I bet many people in the wider financial world would appreciate knowing about it.

Please only refer to Northern Ireland as Nireland

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 12:53 PM PST

Visitors to Ireland are often confused by the number of Irelands. They don't know whether to visit the real Ireland or the pathetic altcountry. Their confusion is because of an attack on the Ireland brand, but Nireland has no right to be called Ireland:

    • Nireland has no citizens, only shills for the UK
    • Nireland is heretical, while Ireland is Catholic
    • Nireland is a monarchy ruled by Queen Elizabeth, while Ireland is a constitutional republic

Please petition Google Maps to call Nireland by their real name, and boycott every map perpetuating this attack.

Having Bitcoin that works like it's supposed to makes me really excited again

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 02:21 PM PST

I just transferred around $7K in BCH and the fees in my wallet software showed $0.00. The actual fee amount was around $0.0013. The transaction was received instantly and confirmed in minutes.

    Bitcoin is back!

10 Reasons Bitcoin Cash is Superior to the Lightning Network

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 11:34 PM PST

    1) Bitcoin Cash is operational while LN has no design that is technically or economically viable.

    2) Bitcoin Cash is actually faster as it has 0-conf instant transactions whereas LN requires several interactive hops to a recipient.

    3) Bitcoin Cash is recipient-independent whereas LN must have recipients online in order to function.

    4) Bitcoin Cash has unlimited transaction size whereas LN is only practical for small transactions.

    5) Bitcoin Cash enjoys an elegant, simple, and proven security model whereas LN presents a much larger attack surface.

    6) Bitcoin Cash has a proven track record whereas LN is still in development.

    7) Bitcoin Cash is useful whereas LN requires a crippled Bitcoin to force adoption.

    8) Bitcoin Cash is elegant whereas LN requires complicated bidirectional payment channels which are inherently insecure.

    9) Bitcoin Cash doesn't require a secondary system for larger transactions.

    10) Bitcoin Cash belongs to the people whereas LN is tainted by corporate vested interest of the worst kind.

Lightning Hubs Will Need To Report To IRS

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 11:56 AM PST

Lightning Network will create hubs, which will transfer funds from one party to another.

This falls into IRS's definition of "third party settlement organization":

    https://www.irs.gov/payments/third-party-network-transactions-faqs

As such, IRS requires these to report the transactions.

So, who will be willing to be a Lightning Hub and report to the IRS? Most likely only banks or large exchanges, which are subject to KYC and AML regulations.

If so, then the conspiracy theories about banksters hijacking Bitcoin don't sound like conspiracy theories anymore.

I welcome a debate and to show how this will not be the case.

    Information on u/theymos

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 02:21 PM PST

Hi guys. I made the video recently "The Truth About The Lightning Network" it gained WAY more attention than I anticipated. You guys received it well, retweeted, reposted, and spread it out. Up to the point that even CW retweeted it. Thank you so much, it means a whole to me.

I want to make another video and keep pushing. This one on the massive issue of censorship by u/theymos. I believe I have enough to get started, but wanted to reach out to y'all and see what information you think should be in there. Any stories, information, theories you can drop in the comments will help.

Also is there any indication that it is still the original creator of the account? A mod account with that much power would be worth a lot if sold...

Edit: to be clear. I'm not asking for personal information on r/Theymos. I'm asking for extremely obvious cases of censorship that he is involved in.

Google uses 3.75 times more electricity than Bitcoin.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:21 PM PST

    Source of googles usage: https://electrek.co/2017/11/30/google-is-officially-100-sun-and-wind-powered-3-0-gigawatts-worth/

Current Bitcoin network: 7,983,858 Terra Hashes

Assuming network uses most efficient miner: Antminer S9: 13.5 Terra Hashes @ 1.3 Kilowatts

    7,983,858 / 13.5 = 591396.88 units

    591,396.88 miners x 1.3 KW = 7,983,858 KW

    3 GW / 0.798 GW = 3.75x (+/- 10%)

    The Bitcoin name.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:22 PM PST

I'm so sick of hearing people say Bitcoin Cash stole the Bitcoin name.

"If you GPL stuff, I have to avoid using it. Nothing against GPL per-se, but Bitcoin is an MIT license project."

    -Satoshi Nakamoto

    The MIT License

Anyone wanting to learn more about how Bitcoin should work please read "The book of Satoshi" The collected writings of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. by Phil Champagne ( https://www.amazon.com/Book-Satoshi-Collected-Writings-Nakamoto/dp/0996061312 ) I finished reading this book a few months before Bitcoin Cash was set to roll out and I can tell you without a doubt this is the vision Satoshi had planned for Bitcoin.
