1 week challenge: 0.1 Bitcoin to 1 Bitcoin Posted: 24 Dec 2017 07:46 AM PST Over the next 7 days I'm going to use just under 0.1 Bitcoin (0.0938) I have set aside from my portfolio to solely buy what El McAfee tells me to buy. It will be called the "7 days of Christmas challenge". Will post results in 7 days with a daily breakdown. I know hes a paid shill and I know they are all trash coins, I don't plan on holding any for more than a few minutes. I have absolutely nothing to do where I currently live so my plan is to leave his Twitter open while I play through Halo CE and borderlands 2. The moment he tweets some dribble and if it's on the exchange with my Bitcoin I'll buy immediately and sell after I'm happy with the profits. I'll compare to my main portfolio and see where it ends up. Edit: after some math I realised I only need to make 39% profit on each trade to achieve this. Fun fact, using similar math and a well known calculation you only need 10 trades/cycles of 7.2% gains to double your money! Edit 2: Added a name for this after lying in bed unable to sleep - The 7 days of Christmas challenge as it starts on Christmas day for me in Australia. Find something that's not on a moon mission and hold until it makes one. Am I doing it right? Posted: 24 Dec 2017 08:15 PM PST Topic. Litecoin trades on the low end around .08-.06 btc. So, buy it while its around that area and sell it when it's significantly higher than that. Done. Dogecoin bottomed out around 15-20 sats. Buy some of that, sell it when it goes on a moon mission. It's mooning right now, so just hold on until it's high enough that you're ready to get off, any time will do. Siacoin, same. Then I tried CLAMs and it was in a P&D cause I didn't realize volume was a thing and stupidly thought that the 1-5% lending rate meant it was a good idea to have some to lend. Ok, so just hold it until it comes back up, might happen, might not, either way I'm way up relative to BTC and USD. I should mention I operate on a timescale of months, not days. Taking profits Posted: 24 Dec 2017 01:41 PM PST Someone kindly help me and be the voice of reason? I am still ahead around 200% since the beginning of the month. Some nights I think, damn, I should have sold some of it. Pay off some small debts like a credit card (still in the 0% promotion) I have, or pay extra on the principal for my car note. I guess I just feel stuck? How do you all decide what % to take out and when? Is it as simple as initial investment, then kick back and relax? Day trading and retaining value given volatility Posted: 24 Dec 2017 01:33 PM PST I'm relatively new to crypto trading. Can someone help me understand the safest way to retain value when making trades? For example: trading XLM to BTC because XLM is becoming bearish. If BTC's value drops enough, I easily lose the gains I would have made had BTC remained relatively stable. It seems difficult to truly day trade if you can't rely on a stable cryptocurrency while waiting for a bearish run to reverse with an altcoin. I know there's USDT tether, but I'd rather avoid that. How in the world is BTC the face Posted: 24 Dec 2017 03:03 PM PST I sent a transaction from one exchange to another. With LTC, it was complete in less than 5 mins, with ETH, it was slightly over 5 mins but with BTC, it's been well more expensive and it's been 45 mins and still pending. It's the weakest of the cryptos and also the face of them to the general public.. moving over to coins increasing in BTC value? Posted: 24 Dec 2017 09:24 AM PST In entire market dips like this, i was wondering if this is a good strategy to make more value. Say BTC is going down by 6k, along with other currencies falling 20% or so. Some currencies are actually rising against BTC but going down in USD. If i moved an entire btc for example into one of these, and then when BTC was back up to 20k, i decided to move it back. If that coin went up slightly against BTC in that time, I'd increase the amount of BTC i own when it comes time to trade back again in theory? Just making sure i've got this right.
