Ask (and answer!) away! Here are the general rules:

    • If you'd like to learn something, ask.
    • If you'd like to share knowledge, answer.
    • Any question about Bitcoin is fair game.

And don't forget to check out /r/BitcoinBeginners

You can sort by new to see the latest questions that may not be answered yet.

Huge thanks for the 1BTC donation to support our fight against depression and suicide in men.

    Posted: 24 Dec 2017 03:11 PM PST

We're thrilled to have been selected by u/deannolan in his generous holiday giveaway. https://redd.it/7ljotm

Our project works to break down the myths and stereotypes that far too often delay or prevent men from reaching out to fight depression. Depression is a serious issue with men accounting for 3-4 times the number of suicides (WHO, Preventing suicide: A global imperative) with depression being a leading cause. This is an issue that needs much more attention as it affects many men as well as their friends and families.

Freewallet Just Stole all of my Money and Access to my Account.

    Posted: 24 Dec 2017 10:31 PM PST

I am new to the crypto world and did not realize that FreeWallet is a known scam that steals money. I had 200-250$ worth of NXT and BTC on my account.

They wont even let me access my account from my browser, I managed to log into the app with my email but all I have left is 20$ worth of bitcoin. My transaction history of even purchasing NTX isnt even there.

They took everything. Is there anything I can do? Their customer service message channels are also not loading, conveniently for them.

    Absolute scam, please stay away!!

My grandmother just "stole" bitcoin from me...

    Posted: 24 Dec 2017 05:27 PM PST

Every year my family does a Chinese gift exchange. This year my uncle bought bitcoin as one of the gifts. When it was my mother's turn she chose to open a gift and it was $50 worth of bitcoin. I was next up and immediately stole it from her with no hesitation. I thought I was set and could add it to my investments. The thing I really didn't expect was that a couple turns later my grandmother ended up stealing it from me. I was dumbstruck. Everyone was. She's not super techy so I ended up explaining how it all worked to her after the exchange was over. It was difficult.

I ended up with some jam, syrup, and pancake mix. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

    Why Satoshi created Bitcoin

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 12:28 AM PST

    Check the genesis block message.

Bitcoin's purpose is to undermine the centralized control of the banks and give monetary control to a decentralized consensus.

Its purpose is not so you can buy a fucking cup of coffee, it's so you can be free.

Keep this in mind - and know that anyone who pushes their transactional shill narrative is just pumping their altcoin bag. They are not conducting commerce with whatever alt bag they are holding.

Here's Why You Should Invest In Bitcoins This Holiday Season

    Posted: 24 Dec 2017 01:46 PM PST

If whining bitcoin companies really want to solve the high transaction fee “problem”, they could implement #SegWit and @Lighting within a couple months. But we all know it’s not about the fees, it’s about control.
