    Theme Upgrade

    Posted: 24 Nov 2017 09:37 PM PST

Hello everyone. We know it's over a day late to announce this, but as you can see, the banner and CSS styling for our sub has finally been updated. The following is a list of changes made:

    1. We've decided to use u/ScorpyOwns banner for now since u/Abandonlaw's banner, see here, hasn't been updated yet with the BItcoin symbols removed. However, the dark version of u/Abandonlaw's banner can be seen in night mode.

    2. Many important links have been repositioned. All links in the top announcement bar and all the flair filter buttons in the sidebar from the old theme have been moved to the lower-right corner of the new banner, see here. You can also find the night mode button in this area.

    3. All rules are visible in the sidebar. A description of each rule can be accessed just by hovering your cursor over one of them, see here.

The ticker probably won't be updated for a while so we will keep the current version for the time being. If you have any questions or discover any bugs with the new theme, please respond below and u/Grily or u/Cellode will answer you. Thanks for your attention.

My friend who works for Visa says something big is happening with them and cryptocurrency. Most likely a partnership with something focused on micro-transactions. Any reddit detectives who feel like digging?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2017 11:26 PM PST

He says they're talking about making a move into the cryptospace with something focused on micro transactions but it's all being kept under wraps pretty well. We've both been tirelessly trying to figure this out, during our brainstorming we thought we might as well get some more minds on the case.

    I need help.

Edit: thanks for the suggestions guys. Seems like the easy thing to do is to delete it but it also seems like this is just a phase. Tbh it got worse when POWR jumped to $0.8 and my money just went crazy. Just waiting for it to 🌚

So what coin is actually being used for something, on a scale worthy of being talked about?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2017 07:50 PM PST

Everything seems like a ponzi scheme, bit-coin has been around for 10 years and still its use is basically gambling and sparse use in a range of other things.

PSA: Don't trust any exchanges, ever. Bittrex.com story inside.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2017 07:56 PM PST

I've been using bittrex.com since 2014 - it's never been my favorite site but since they have the big volume, I trade there.

Well to my surprise tonight (and without any notification) my account's withdrawal limits just went from over 1,000 BTC/day to 0 BTC/day. Yup, straight up 0.

Even though I've been using this website for years I always zero out my account as soon as my trades are done (I'd say 90% of the time I have 0 bitcoin value in my account). Well tonight not thinking anything of it, I sent money over, placed trades and then when I went to pull my coins off - I realized I cannot.

I'm sure I will eventually get my money but not before jumping through a bunch of hoops. I'm also traveling at the moment so the chance of getting this done quickly is not realistic. So now I'm going to be sitting here exposed with a large sum of money on this website, simply because they decided to change settings on my account without any heads up.

All I can say is fuck exchanges. Fuck them all. Be careful guys.

Known about Bitcoin for years but was too stupid to buy in. Finally buying into crypto. What should I know/research/be careful of as a crypto newbie?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2017 06:40 PM PST

    Hey r/CryptoCurrency,

As the title says, I've known about Bitcoin for years. Me, being an ignorant ass, thought there was no way that this 'made up currency' was going to last. I honestly thought some entity would shut it down before it gained any traction. I was obviously very wrong...

I am finally taking the dive into crypto. (Woohoo!) Late to the party I know, but like they say, better late than never. But, I am definitely a newbie and am having a little trouble understanding everything that goes into crypto. How it works, where to start research, how to protect myself and investments, what to trust, ICO's (uhhhh, what are these?), etc.

I am by no means looking for what to invest in or people's secrets, but if anyone has any tips to live by, good sources for doing research, anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

I want to be apart of these gains too!

Edit: Wow, wasn't expecting to get a bunch of responses. Thank you everyone for the tips. I posted this as I was walking into a bar with a friend who is also looking to start investing in crypto to do research over a couple beers. Really appreciate the guidance. So excited to start this journey.

    Why I've invested in MOD

    Posted: 25 Nov 2017 02:31 AM PST

    1. The coin is extremely undervalued with a market cap of only 34 million dollars
    2. It has the same goal as Waltonchain but is more focused on the pharmaceutical sector so it doesn't actually compete with Waltonchain
    3. It's a Swiss project with an excellent team, take a look on their website.
    4. They keep the community up to date with what they're doing, as can be seen in their news section.
