It is very clear to me...BCH is the real bitcoin Posted: 27 Nov 2017 07:28 AM PST I bought my first BTC two years ago, and have been studying the cryptocurrency revolution closely. I don't post much, but feel compelled to say that it is very clear to me that BTC has been hijacked, and it's only a matter of time that BCH takes it's rightful place as the real bitcoin:
It's only a matter of time, BCH will prevail. [link] [comments]
New-style BCH addresses? (starting with C) Posted: 27 Nov 2017 03:52 AM PST Hi all, The bitpay and copay apps are using "new-style" BCH addresses, starting with C instead of with 1, to prevent accidentally sending BCH to a BTC address or vice versa (BCH to a segwit BTC is particularly bad!) Why don't the rest of the community adopt these addresses? It should be in everybodys interest to avoid that kind of trouble. BCH is by now an established cryptocurrency, and should not try to "mimic" BTC. I know many dream of replacing BTC, but that does not happen through looking as much as possible like BTC, that happens by becoming the preferred currency for online transactions (the 'local money of the Internet'). But merchants are going to be reluctant to adopt it, if they constantly have to support customers that sent the wrong currency to an address. [link] [comments]
Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash discussion needs to cut the drama, and focus on objectivity Posted: 27 Nov 2017 11:08 AM PST I have just finishing watching another interview with Roger Ver where things got emotional and he rage quit towards the end of it. I do not particularly agree with Roger's point of view, but he does have a valid point that the Bitcoin community should acknowledge. At the same time, Roger is grossly underestimating the importance of decentralization, but he should at least recognize that centralization and the risk of censorship are correlated, and in that regard Bitcoin is better positioned than Bitcoin Cash.
Censorship Resistance vs Censorship Immunity There is an enormous difference between censorship resistance and censorship immunity. A system with the disruptive potential of Bitcoin must pursue immunity because of the threat it represents to governments, financial institutions and other individuals and institutions that benefit from the current status quo at the cost of the greater good. These groups will conspire to destroy the shift in economic and political power that cryptos promise to deliver, and Bitcoin is at the center of it. The most effective way to kill it would be to do it in one blow to ensure that the system does not have the opportunity to adapt to a change in circumstances. In other words, one day several major governments (acting under the influence of bad actors) could simultaneously implement technological and political barriers with the goal of effectively shutting down the network. Centralizing nodes and mining would make this type of operation much more likely to succeed. This is the biggest risk for cryptos, and this is why Bitcoin Core is not willing to adopt a scaling model that would increase exposure to censorship. A crypto cannot fulfill the role of store of value unless it achieves censorship immunity. I will certainly choose the option that maximizes resistance as my store of value for cryptos - that is a no brainer.
Network Fees do Matter If I am doing multiple crypto transactions per day, and I am given the option to pay a few dollars vs a few cents to transact, I will choose to pay a few cents. Actually, I probably would not be doing multiple transactions per day if the fee costs more than a dollar. Its not rocket science, transaction fees do limit the use cases for cryptos. I will choose to use another form of money if Bitcoin is not able to reduce their fees in order to maximize its permission-less and censorship attributes. Bitcoin supporters believe that second layer chains will provide sufficient functionality and ease of use to support scaling without sacrificing immunity. Bitcoin cash supporters think that this solution will be too complicated and won't work effectively to reduce fees while maintenance simplicity of use. Lets recognize both points of view and agree to disagree.
Bottom Line In the short term Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash can coexist - they are actually supplementing each other at the moment. If our goal is to maximize wealth in cryptos, then we also need to an option that operates at very low fees. At the same time, the enter/exit ramps between cryptos and fiat are not super accessible, so it is extremely important to have a dominant crypto that focuses on censorship immunity to provide the backbone for the rest of the crypto world. In the long term, Bitcoin may or may not effectively fulfill the role of medium of exchange. No one knows for sure, but I can safely predict the following: Once Bitcoin's layer 2 is fully implemented it is conceivable that Bitcoin Cash may be only marginally better as a medium of exchange (or perhaps worse than Bitcoin). In the meantime, Bitcoin should not really be seen as a competitor to Bitcoin Cash. Ethereum is actually much closer to being a competitor to Bitcoin Cash since its infrastructure provides cheap and even faster confirmations. [link] [comments]

What do you think is the future of BCH? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 08:18 AM PST I started investing in BTC just about a month ago. I only own BTC and no BCH. I thought about buying BCH as a hedge since I have seen some scary movement in the past weeks. Here you seem to be all convinced about the clear future success of BCH over BTC but to me it is not as clear. I just want an honest thought on what you think will happen. What I think will happen is that for now BCH will slowly increase in value compared to BTC, or at least not drop significantly. After this I see two scenarios: 1) A scaling solution is implemented on BTC (like the lightning network) making BCH redundant and causing its demise. 2) Scaling solutions for BTC fail, either by not being implemented or even worse by some error in the code etc. This would represent the ideal opportunity for BCH to take over. This is kind of an annoyance since even if I think scenario 1 is more likely, I cannot ignore the scenario 2 possibility. Obviously here you are all convinced about the fact that scenario 2 is more likely. Please put forward some solid arguments supporting it. I will never jump in 100% on BCH but I'm thinking to hedge. This is nonetheless an annoyance since I'm not stoked about reducing my BTC holdings. [link] [comments]

Why isn't there a daily discussion thread? Posted: 26 Nov 2017 10:47 PM PST Seriously. Pretty much every coin in the top 20 has a daily discussion thread in their subreddit, except BCH. You'd think a top 5 coin would have a place where people can discuss the daily status here in a collective manner. Instead we just get a bunch of pointless threads like "To the moon" everyday. A sticky thread where posters could discuss today's events would be a lot more helpful for everyone. [link] [comments]

"If Bitcoin crashes every crypto will crash with it" Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:27 PM PST LOL. So what? I'll be there to be one of the post-crash adopters, just like embracing the Internet after the dotcom bubble. Blockchain and cryptocurrency is here to stay with or without Bitcoin simply because of the massive utility potential in this technology. It's just like a famous singer dies and another singer rises to stardom. Yeah, public confidence will be lost bla bla bla. Surely those will be the people who are similar to those who just started to learned about social media and the internet post 2010. Did everyone else cared? No lol. Using this meme to justify BTC's position is simply distasteful. [link] [comments]
Should I buy another BCH right now? Posted: 27 Nov 2017 09:18 AM PST Got a good holding of BCH currently but with price quite stable around the £1,190-£1,200 range I'm tempted to buy 1 more BCH to add to my profit. Worth it or do you think it's gonna tumble down? I can't imagine it due to how stable it's been and the only time it's gone past £1,000 was the major due correction a week ago now. Assuming the BTC bubble pops soon Posted: 27 Nov 2017 07:20 AM PST It'll be the first major BTC bubble pop that happens with BCH around. I wonder what type of effect this is going to have. Will BCH act indifferently of what BTC is doing? Will Satoshi ever want to jump ship if he still exists and pump BCH while BTC dips to make a political statement? [link] [comments]
