    Bitcoin in Ukraine

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 05:22 PM PST

Hi All, have been thinking about Ukraine. Parts of Ukraine is losing electricity. If their investments are in Bitcoin/crypto, how are they going to use it?

Think about this, if this war gets worse - how do we use crypto if major parts of the world don't have electricity?? It's a genuine doubt that I'm unable to come up with an answer.

Isn't gold or some government backed fiat more useful on this case??

The dollar/euro are doomed after sanctions.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 12:58 PM PST

The dollar/euro are doomed after sanctions.

Not that they weren't before, but it'd be a slow debacle (money printer go BRRR...).

But now is different as they took dollars and euros from a powerful state level agent (Russia) and some of the richest in the world (Russian oligarchs).

Other states (China, Russia and others) and riches around the world are taking note.

Sanctions in the past have never been so widely applied and this time will erode the trust on dollar/euro and debt instruments from USA and Europe as a means of national reserve.

Now is time for other instruments to shine (gold and bitcoin).

Is Russia going to make Bitcoin legal tender?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 11:50 PM PST

Given the recent events such as the collapse of the Russian Ruble, the possible SWIFT block, sanctions and so on, do you think it would be reasonable for Russia to make Bitcoin legal tender? And if so, is this good for BTC?

bitcoin has given me a breath of hope.

6 months ago I posted that I lost all my money because of a transaction I made wrong by making a rookie mistake, currently I have recovered 40% of what I lost with the help of the market decline, I have worked very hard for it.

The lesson I leave is that if you have lost money or have been hacked, don't let this stop you, with effort sooner or later you will achieve it.

    Unconfiscatable Conf - Day 1

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 01:26 AM PST

When Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador, it was removed from taxation (exempt from capital gains taxes or even income taxes when paid in it). This set a beautiful standard that Mexico is considering, & Portugal has already partially implemented but without the "legal tender" part. QUESTION:

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 09:19 AM PST

Question: Now that states (California) & cities (Lugano) are considering or officially announcing (respectively) adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender, will there be tax advantages in those areas, either to businesses or to individuals?

I'm happy for the positive headlines, but is there anything of real substance happening in those areas?

Adoption as legal tender in a country (or exemption from capital gains taxation as in Portugal) is huge news & will encourage people to move & invest there.

But adoption as legal tender in a city or state... Might some vendors actually feel inconvenienced for being forced [edit: encouraged, unless it's a debt, then possibly forced] to accept a currency that is still a pain in the ass taxation-wise?

    Stack That "Doom" #Bitcoin

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 01:44 PM PST

The BEST type of headline for encouraging NGU & world-wide adoption is this type: "Ukraine has raised more than $54 Million as Bitcoin donations pour in to support the war against Russia". (Because most of this unprecedentedly huge amount of donated BTC is being spent as BTC, confirmed.)

How does the mempool resist spam?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 04:07 AM PST

What I understand is that any one can add transactions to the mempool with no cost.

And each node have to save it and spread it around the network until it added to the block.

What did I got wrong here?

Articles about „fair value“ of BTC making any sense?!

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 12:16 AM PST

Once in a while I read about analysts and experts in the financial media claiming the fair value of Bitcoin.

Interested to see if I am wrong: because it makes no sense whatsoever. Bitcoin cant be measured in traditional ways as it's something completely new.

The only thing that gives it value is the true belief of their investors and societies, supported by some mechanics (money supply, decentralized, …).

It's all nonsense to me. Am I missing sth?
