Staking your ETH with Coinbase for 4.5% interest... is it worth it?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 07:23 AM PST

How long is your staked ETH locked for?

Is the APR earned in the form of ETH2 monthly?

I'm not liking that little disclaimer "Your staked ETH may be lost due to events such a validator or protocol failure." It says they're unlikely, but seriously... Is it worth it?

How do we make security affordable in the crypto space?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 02:53 AM PST

If security is a necessity in the crypto space and it's advisable that everyone uses hardware or a cold storage wallet. How is this possible? considering the fact that popular hardware wallets are quite expensive and not affordable by everyone and more so not easily accessible. I'm saying this because I think for global Cryptocurrency adoption, people from less privileged countries should also have access to this security. Would be nice if there is a cheap or free solution like that at least for storing top cryptos like Bitcoin, Ethereum or Polkadot

I am creating a website that is built just for people wanting to learn about crypto currency. I want it to be a all in one stop for someone to find out if crypto is right for them. I am asking the community for help on topics and questions people might have that I can go over and share. Message me for any ideas you might have. Thank you.

    Why aren't people using Status?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 09:12 AM PST

It somewhat boggles my mind that the Ethereum community is promoting a chat app that's not even encrypted. Why aren't people using and promoting Status, and why haven't any developers pushed for the SHH protocol being added to the Ethereum nodes?

A few years ago it seemed like a smart project to add secure encrypted chat to the nodes, but it seems like the entirety of the idea just died. Granted I understand the architecture really requires users hosting their own mailservers, so it was a bit too technical for normies, but we have a somewhat ok project here that has way more security right here and no one uses it.

Did I miss something about Status on why everyone seems to completely ignore it?

    When are gas fees lowest?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 11:39 PM PST

I've been trying to wait until the gas fees are under $100, I've tried waiting late at night, on the weekends or weekdays, but the lowest I've seen it is around $120-150. What times will the gas fees likely be under $100?

Edit: I'm paying 2 gas fees to activate my account on OpenSea

Some questions on ethereum proof of stake

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:03 AM PST

    Hello,

I just wanna ask some questions on ethereum proof of stake mechanism. So, I understand that there are validators which validate transactions, and that you need to stake some amount of coin to become validator. More coin you stake, more validating transaction and more fee you will get. If you don't validate transactions fairly, you can be ,,punished,, by taking some part of your staked amount of coints, or even everything you staked. Now, the questions are:

    1. How exactly validators validate the transactions? It's not that they are sitting at their pc pressing yes and no button?
    2. How can someone cheat and validate corrupted transaction?
    3. If someone stakes on pool, and validate not valid transaction, does the whole pool takes damage?

    Thanks for your help.
