Just found my old Litecoin wallet with 72 LTC

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 10:18 AM PST

Lost my LTC wallet early 2018, when litecoin was about $80. I've been trying my best to retrieve the wallet ever since to no avail. Luckily for me I bought a new Samsung phone and I was able to log into my Samsung account, I went to my notes and lo and behold the wallet credentials was there. To is a proud day for me as a Litecoin holder.

100 Years Ago Today (December 3, 1921) Henry Ford said that a new "energy currency" would come along and replace gold as the standards international currency, and that this "energy currency" would bring about world peace.

What happens when the wealth of the 99% has been doubled?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 05:34 AM PST

Not sure if this is the correct forum however I figure there would be a few here with greater understanding of economics and Litecoin was my choice of investment in crptocurrencies.
Using the U.S as an example and 99% have $8 Trillion combined in fiat. When new forms of wealth are introduced i.e cryptocurrency, what happens to the actual real wealth? As the saying goes, a rising tide carries all boats - For example if Bitcoin was to reach ~$380k essentially the marketcap would be at $8 Trillion. Because this wealth doesn't remove the existing wealth fiat brings and now double the wealth exists within society does that have any adverse repercussions?
If Bitcoin sticks at its current trend and doubles each halving we would expect it to reach that amount in under 6 years. That is with just the one cryptocurrency, if we consider just the top 10 alone it would envision hitting that cap a lot sooner. This seems like a real world thing that could occur, so looking if the possibility of any adverse effects would be real.

    Retriving Litecoins

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 06:33 PM PST

Hi, I bought $450 worth of litecoin around 2013 and haven't thought much about it since. I now saw that the price have gone up significantly so I'm trying to get hold of my coins.

I seem to have made a great mistake and not saved the private key but only my wallet.dat.

I just downloaded litecoin core and have synced blockchain up to date, but every try I do importing the wallet crashes the whole thing.

I have found many backups of the wallet.dat but all seem to be corrupted or something.

Do you know of a way to get my coins back

    Use case and ignorance

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 09:51 AM PST

I noticed an interesting post in the cryptocurrency Reddit asking about best use case. I voiced my opinion, but I have a feeling that it will probably get down voted because monero seems to be all it's talking about. I thought I would share my frustration here….. with like minded people…… what do you think………?

    Big Brane: Litecoin Comic 2

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 08:24 AM PST

Litecoin still exists after 10 years, so is it ever going to die? It might be but...

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 03:30 AM PST

I already said this in a comment earlier but I just wanted it to point out one more time:

In Litecoin's 10+ years life time it already survived the few previously huge Cryptocolapses.

This made me simply realize that this strong coin is not just going to die and always will recover eventually no matter how hopeless the future seems at moments.

So is Litecoin ever going to die?

The only true reason now how I would see LTC actually dying is when cryptocurrency as a whole becomes obsolete due to the advancement in technology and crypto starts to become easily "hackable".

But I don't see this scenario happen any time soon. Honestly I wont be surprised if crypto (and therfor Litecoin as well) is still relevant even as far as 2050.

Just because it went up 200% since last year instead of 1000% doesnt mean the coin is dead guys... It's actually kind of obvious but some people just seem to only compare the short term results and think that the value differences between the coins will continue to be this way and this is very unlikely. This never has been a constant thing in crypto history.

    tl;dr : HODL

    Litecoin Staking

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 10:10 AM PST

I'm curious what successes you've had with DeFi staking/pools/etc and Litecoin?

I see lots of options via Ledger.. anyone using them?

I'm aware of Blockfi and Celsius. But I'm more curious about the truly decentralized options you may have seen out there?

Open wallet failed - wallet file verification failed: wallet.dat corrupt, salvage failed.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 05:32 AM PST

Hello. Today I installed Litecoin Core, started to dowload blockchain data (to become a node) and while it was doing it's stuff - I made an incoming adress to get some litecoins from a pool. After I pressed "encrypt wallet" and typed passphrase, Litecoin Core program froze and crashed. After restarting, it gave me this error message, renamed my old wallet.dat with some numbers and *.bak and created new wallet.dat. Now I don't have previously crated adress availble in programm. Is there any chance to restore this old wallet.dat or somehow get control over adress knowing it and it's passphrase?

P.S. English is not my main language, sorry for any mistakes or lack of wording. :)

Help getting LTC off paper wallet with public and private keys.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 06:23 AM PST

I couldn't find any phone apps to unload so I downloaded Electrum-LTC 4.0.9.3 and connected to the servers automatically. I can bring up the wallet (read-only) with the public key and it shows all the transactions there. When I press wallet>private keys>sweep and type in the private key, I get an error: "UnknownTxinType('cannot construct preimage_script for txin_type: address')"

What am I doing wrong or is there another, easier way to unload my paper wallet to spend? Thanks!
