Genuinely curious - what is stopping people from leaving Eth to a competitor (to name a few, Algorand, Solana, Poly, etc.) given the cost of transacting?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 05:29 AM PST

Please don't shoot this down as 'anti-eth' or 'complaining about gas fees'. I'm just curious what keeps other people here holding Eth? I am basically holding mine until fees drop and I can exit or the roll ups save me.

The other chains are more readily scalable, generally quicker and cheaper. Yes they aren't as 'big' but, let's be honest, for most of our purposes that is pretty irrelevant.

    Zk roll up

What are the existing ZK Rollup solutions/projects for ETH and when will they be ready for prime time? I only know about Loopring - which seems promising.

What to do with 32 ETH?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 12:09 AM PST

Say I have 32 ETH and want to maximize the passive income for the long term. What would be the best option at the moment? Please also help stating the APY for each option you recommend. Thanks

Some of the options I have seen

    1. Stake on Beacon Chain
    2. Run 2 nodes on Rocketpools
    3. Swap all for rETH
    4. Stake on Crypto.com
    5. Stake on Lido

    New "lost" wallet scam, beware

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 02:08 AM PST

At first i thought some dumbass pasted this into message board accidentally...

privatekey/passphrase trustwaller = dog wealth humor slender derive coil hurt trim pause world gown humor

I load up the pass phrase on a trust wallet and find 250 tether but no eth... Hmm... Looking at the transactions...

Ok, this guy is not a dumbass, he is a genius. 0x28041F68083920ebb3019688773B7328C963af8E Lookup that wallet address. It's full of people sending the wallet a small amount of eth so they can transfer it 250 tether! But, as soon as they transfer in the eth, there is a bot that steals there ETH! But wait, there is more. The bot keeps track of how much ETH is in the wallet and moves it to a bigger wallet... But wait there's more... The bot sets up more wallets by sending other non-trivial amounts Of coin to more "brain wallets"... This is probably tied to a bot designed to post those wallet secret pass phrase accidentally on purpose! It's a money machine by stealing money from people that are trying to steal money!

Help : How can one token/coin be present in many chains?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 02:41 PM PST

Sorry might be a noob questions, but i am very confused!

    1. How can one token/coin be present in many chains?
e.g., USDT or Maker is an ERC20 token; so when I try to withdraw the same I see option of network like ERC20, BEP20, TRC20, Polygon, Solana etc.,
so lets say when I buy the token say USDT on a exchange like gate.io or binance.us, which network does it buy? and when I transfer it to lets say a wallet, what happens to the token on original network?
    2. Metamask -> so when I add different networks in metamask like fantom, harmony, BSC etc., they all share same address, does that mean all of these are erc20 as well or not? how can they same address?
    3. based on above if I need to transfer USDC from gate.io or binance.us (now supports bep20 withdrawal) to metamask BNB address, should I just choose bep20 on withdrawal side and give address from metamask from BNB network?

    Web3 needs the ΞPhone

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 06:52 AM PST

Below is a manifesto for an Ethereum-native mobile FOSS OS. We have just begun to coordinate around this idea, and feedback is much appreciated!

Web3 remakes the internet with a native payment protocol. There are no gatekeepers or intermediaries in Web3. Because of the composability of Ethereum applications, developers permissionlessly leverage existing apps resulting in an exponential rate of development.

Web3 has kickstarted a technological, economic, and cultural revolution; however a critical component is missing. To allow developers to fully realize the potential on Web3, a native mobile OS for Ethereum is needed. This free and open source mobile OS will contain a native API to connect to Web3 providers (connectors for calling blockchain functions). In time, this OS will run a light-version of an Ethereum node, further decentralizing the blockchain. We will call this new FOSS Ethereum-native mobile OS the ΞPhone.

Google's Android and Apple's iOS cannot successfully serve Web3 because they are permission-ed platforms by design. These centralized platforms cannot grant permission to new applications fast enough, and every time they delay or do not grant permission, they break the promise and potential of Web3. In contrast, composability will be intrinsic to ΞPhone apps.

The ΞPhone will enable novel economics and experiences. Apps, ERC20s, and NFTs will expand in potential when paired with the geolocation, camera, and near-field communication capabilities of mobile. New social experiences will become possible, which will integrate seamlessly with the tokenization and financialization of the physical world, human creativity, and experience.

The Ξphone will be the penultimate tool for the creators and explorers of Web3. Until we have a mobile OS that is as permissionless as the blockchain on which Web3 is built, the technological transformation will be incomplete, and the economic and cultural renaissance that Web3 makes possible, will be delayed.

The current goal is an Android fork that can be installed by the user. We are a small and humble group atm, just starting to ideate. Join us!

Using 1Inch Directly From iPhone for instant swapping/trading

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 03:23 AM PST

Hye guys I've just made a complete tutorial video for the community of how to use 1Inch from iPhone, or any other mobile phone:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1A0SkWMlDk

It's very convenient if you have a hot wallet (don't put a lot of money on it because It's not that secure) and you want to execute swaps and trades in a fast manner directly from your mobile device.

Let me know in the comments what you think about it and if you have any questions :)

    Thanks!

    ENS Delegate leaderboard

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 11:13 AM PST

I created a leaderboard of the top ENS delegates based on various signals like voting participation, DAOs they are part of, forum activity and so on. This will hopefully help token holders pick the right delegate and also track delegate performance.

Why would I pay to move my erc20 tokens from CDC to TW?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 04:44 PM PST

The fees are literally 20-30% of my total investment which isn't alot of money. My bag is like 1500 CAD and nearly half of it goes to fees. Is security really that big of an issue? Can I be safe holding erc20 on exchanges? Or regardless of the detrimental fees, I should be moving to a hot wallet/cold wallet?

I do have the nano x, however, the fees are very concerning for me when my total bag invested is less then 5k.

Hope I can get some honest answers. I am fairly new to this and I need help essentially on tips/tricks to maybe avoid fees or what my best options are if I am holding long term.

I understand the debate on hot and cold wallets exists, I am not asking for what I should do, my main question is: does security Trump the fees of transferring from exchange to a hot wallet like trust?

Td:lr I have no idea how to transfer without being destroyed by fees.

What happens during staking and how safe it is?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 11:13 AM PST

    Hey Guys ,

It's been half a year since I started reading up more on blockchain and twitter. Usually I try to understand something before I invest more money into it.

The practice of staking seems to gain popularity in recent months. Now I was wondering how this process exactly works and how safe it is. Hypothetically, couldn't anyone run off with my coins if I borrow it to them for staking?

Additionally. What are some trustworthy sources I can read(or watch) up on this matter and understand the workings behind it?

Edit: and which staking platforms would you recommend?
