- 3080 ti FE repad, vram temps below 80C but core temps above 80C. I used 2mm gelid extreme on die side, same as on my 3080 FE, but core temps are waaaaay worse for 3080 ti. Help?

pcie cable brand recommendation Posted: 09 Oct 2021 07:34 AM PDT I need to buy some pcie cables, but most of the ones on amazon have mixed reviews. Can anyone recommend some decent cables for mining? Specifically, I need one 8-pin cable to power a 1080 that has one 8 pin input and two 6 pin cables to power two risers. I'm using a EVGA 650w PSU to power two 1080s on a rig. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Oct 2021 04:16 AM PDT I have been running 2x3080 and 1x3070 on T-Rex on HiveOS with no issues for weeks. I recently added a new 3080 Ti into my rig and it started running into frequent issues. After an hour or so, T-Rex will stop mining and start constantly repeating the following error until the hashrate watchdog forces the miner restart or the rig to reboot. It will run again for a little while but then start having issues again. The GPU ID is random every time, meaning the error doesn't make sense since I've tested each of these GPUs individually with their OC settings and they run just fine. It's just when they're together on my rig that this issue start happening. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? My setup:

Posted: 09 Oct 2021 02:23 AM PDT my gpu is a 8 pin with a 6 pin, are you supposed to plug all 14 pins in the gpu and 6 more in the pcie riser or would you plug 8 in the gpu and 6 in the riser leaving the 6 pin on the gpu empty. [link] [comments]
PSA: Pass your Ethernet through your surge protector Posted: 08 Oct 2021 03:26 PM PDT Lightning hit my building and knocked out my modem, passed through the Ethernet cable knocking out my gaming PC port, with literal sparks flying from the network hub connected to my 3 rigs. I was lucky and nothing else was damaged. New surge protectors with Ethernet this time and new hub on the way. Downstairs neighbor lost entire PC (keyboard was slightly nuked), and another neighbor lost their modem as well. Stay safe folks [link] [comments]
Brand new Rx 6800 very low hashrate Posted: 09 Oct 2021 12:52 AM PDT Just got a brand new xfx 6800 xt and I went to start mining with it and it was only getting 7 mhs. I plugged it into my 2nd rig and same thing . Under 10 mhs. Does anyone know if this means it's a bad card or what? Real confused this is the first GPU that has done this to me [link] [comments]

Sold half of my GPUs for a good price Posted: 08 Oct 2021 05:15 PM PDT Bought some GPUs in May/June, mined for a few months, then sold them a little above what I paid. All values in CAD. 2x 3080- paid $2100 ea, sold for $2200 ea 1x 3070- paid $1700, sold for $1600 1x 5700 xt- paid $1000, sold for $1100 2x 5700- paid $1100 ea, sold for $1100 ea I still have 440mh left that I'll continue to mine on. After getting rid of these cards, I now have a ton of extra mining equipment. Either I sell the parts or I buy more GPUs lol. Shout out to the guy from near Toronto that sold his rig recently too :) Edit- formatting [link] [comments]
Why Are Motherboards 10x MSRP? Posted: 08 Oct 2021 04:33 PM PDT I was looking to buy a new mining motherboard (B250 Mining Expert) and was shocked at how much they are charging for them. How does something that costs around $100 going for $1,000 now? WTF? Are people actually paying that much? [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Oct 2021 01:40 PM PDT I'm trying to create a sheet showing the potential impact of Eth 2.0. If interested feel free to use my template. I still need to update many sections (NOT COMPLETE YET), but a list of network hash rates would be very useful... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HyKoZhD_K_vcn5QqHMlZEX-o3FQ_i7SnCRjvfIR0SVw/edit?usp=sharing Also shout out to Sebs FinTech Channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/SebsFinTechChannel) who originally made this sheet. I copied and pasted his template into mine. Only problem with it, it's taking values from a point in time. So I made a import tab that pulls in live data over. I will also save historical data in prior tabs to see how hash rate moves. [link] [comments]

SINGLE PCIE 2 (6+2) daisy chained AND split once to power a 3 8pin 3080? Posted: 08 Oct 2021 10:33 AM PDT I have an older PSU (Quark 750W) that only provides two 2x(6+2) PCIe cables. Rosewill has no replacements, but I'm trying to ask support if they have any alternatives. Supposing this doesn't work out... I have a 2080 ti hashing with one single daisy chained cable at 155W. For the second cable, and since these PCIe cables are technically rated at 300W, would it be possible to further split the second daisy chain into 3, so that the 3080 is fully plugged in with 3 cables that are connected in one? I set it to have a power draw of 65%, but is really drawing 250W. Would this work? I saw a video of a guy using a single PCI-e cable to power 2 8pin 3080 and riser, running the 3080 at 220W. But he noted that if the OCs do reset for a bit, it could potentially become a fire hazard. Another concern I have is if the underclocks somehow get reset, in which case my PSU would not be able to accommodate for full capacity (Other have a max load of 250W according to pcpartpicker + 2080ti max 250W + 3080 max 330W = 830W). This is part of my workstation where I occasionally play games, but otherwise is pretty idle. Is there some way to hard cap the GPU power limit somewhere in Bios to completely OCs from getting reset? If not at all, I think my only 2 options is getting a smaller PSU solely for the 2080ti or replacing it a 1000/1200 watt PSU Thanks! [link] [comments] |
