HiveOS AMD 6700 XT settings - Watt Savings! Posted: 09 Sep 2021 02:58 AM PDT HiveOS had an update late July/August that allows more control over the 6700 xt cards, dropping watts used by 20w, resulting in 47MH/s @ 82-84w (some cards like my Gigabyte Eagle refuse to run lower than 91w). Also I noticed a few people on Reddit who posted that their rigs crashed after getting this update, this is because the voltage settings were not being applied before, but after update the "too low" voltage settings do get applied, resulting in OC failures. I found this info originally on the HiveOS forums, but thats much less organized and searchable than Reddit (also full disclosure, Im tired of trying to find that one comment with some details and then another comment with more details) And because I cannot stand people who make these posts and dont list the overclocking used Core clock: 1200 (I've seen posts with cards requiring 1300) Core volt: 650 - 700 Mem controller volt: 700 Mem clock: 1075 Mem volt: 1275 (some cards go to 1250) Powerlimit: Set to 100 (This settings changes nothing for me, unless I make it too low) Soc VDDMax: 1000 - 1070 (1070 is for my Gigabyte Eagle, that hates running lower) [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Sep 2021 07:20 PM PDT Well, got scammed for the first time buying two sets of GPU's. Thought I was getting a couple of 1660's for a good price. Nope..., thought it was a legit site because the transaction were through Paypal. They sent me the fake Nvidia 1050Ti. But my transaction where protect via Paypal buyer protection. It's took a week to get my money back from the 1st pair. When I got my second fake ones (I bought them 5 days apart), I started my second claim through there resolution center. As soon as I hit enter I got my money back, no waiting, they must have know about the scam. Also do business for GPU's purchasing where you get buyer protection. Never do it off site to save the seller some money and you thinking you are getting a better deal. If I did an off site, I would have never got my money back. [link] [comments]

Is there a way for MSI afterburner to not detect a card? Details in message. Posted: 08 Sep 2021 04:38 PM PDT Edit updates at bottom Rig details Windows OS Eth mining Aquilex (0.5%fee) 3060ti 3060ti 3070 (New) 6800xt Rvn(NBminer) 3060 I can successfully mine the two coins with all the NVIDIA Cards. Right now, I'm trying to add a 6800xt into the mix. Currently my mining software for Eth will load up, then start MSI afterburner- load all gpus to profile 5. Download the DAG file, then load to profile 1 with my preferred OC setting. This was done by the dev, because he was finding the if the mem clocks were too high while downloading the dag it would cause a lot of fails. This works. Great for NVIDIA. Now when I add my 6800xt I'm trying to set my OC settings in MSI but I cannot seem to find anything stable. It hits 50MHs then after a short period of time it drops to 22MHs. I'm currently in a grey zone where I'm waiting for my pc to fully restart - but I was reading that it's easier to set an OC profile in the Radeon software fore the 6800xt. Two questions. If I make changes in Rad software, will that MSI afterburner detect those changes and show them? That way I can save the profile to 5 and 1. Or Can I have MSI afterburner not load the 6800xt at all? My googlefu is a bit lacking here, when I google "MSI Afterburner to not load gpu" I just get troubleshooting on how to get the app to detect the gpu :( Edit Okay, so I tuned in Radeon then applied, went to msi after burner and the changes were reflected when i moved between gpus. I need to adjust my power consumption as it fluxs between 148 and 158 in Rad software, meaning it's pulling a bit more from the wall. Also my hash is steady between 59 to 61. So it's time to play with the oc settings. Other people report being able to drop the power below the 881 min. I suspect this is morepowertools in action. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Sep 2021 09:15 AM PDT There has already been a little rumbling coming down the pipe about nvidia and the 4000 series of cards. There have been no firm announcements yet or news but obviously we know it will come at some point in the future. I wanted to get others opinions on how we think this will play out. Firstly we still have a shortage of chips, the issues are supposed to be resolved by Q1-2022 so it's possible that Nvidia may be able to keep any of its launch windows on track but do we think the bent up demand already for the 3000 series will cause them to put future product releases on hold? Does it make sense to sell so,etching else when you can barely meet demand for the current thing and can get customers to then upgrade later, hence buying two products instead of skipping a generation? Secondly, we have the LHR issues. Do you think Nvidia will continue with their current approach of leaving the highest level cards open and paying much more attention to limiting hashing on lower end cards? Do you think they will come down harder and lock all cards? Or do you think the CMP line will actually get some traction and they will keep two product lines going? Obviously much of this depends on the Crypto market which no one can predict, so not looking for fortune telling, more opinions on the market direction. So put on your Nvidia marketing director cap and imagine for a second, what would you do? [link] [comments]

8 Pin CPU Out (ATX PSU) to 6+2pin PCIE adapter? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:24 PM PDT Looking to power my risers only with my 8 pin cpu slots on my ATX PSU as I do not have enough VGA slots/wattage Would something like this be reasonable? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newegg.ca/amp/p/1W7-0053-00015 How many risers could I realistically power with one 8 pin EPS to 6+2 PCIE plus PCIE splitters? Are most indoor growboxes safe for putting mining rigs outdoors? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 04:12 PM PDT I have some 20 gpus hashing in my room (shared house with a garden) and it gets quite uncomfortable whenever outdoor temperature is above 20. I know that summer is over soon and that it is going to be an ideal heater for the UK winter, but I was thinking about putting the mining shelf inside a grow box like this one and just put it in the garden. I have seen people do it before but no one has put it exposed to rain in a garden. Would it still be safe? Has anyone here done that? I guess covering it with a waterproof bike cover or so would be an easy solution but having it standing by itself is more satisfying. [link] [comments]

3060 ti - 1 PCIe 8pin cable to GPU + riser or 1 PCIe 8pin cable to 2 risers (using splitters)? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 04:51 PM PDT I'd like to build a 6 GPU mining rig and I'm not sure how I should connect all the cables. I want to mine Raven and I saw that 1 card consumes about 160W with 80% power limit. If I have 3060 tis that require 1 PCIe 8 pin cable, then I need in total 12 PCIe cables (gpu+risers). I know that the 3060ti has a 200W TDP and that the 1 8pin connector is rated for 150W, but if I understood correctly the cable is rated for over 250W, so it would be safe to plug in the same cable with a splitter for GPU + riser? This is where I'm still confused... after reading a lot of resources and watching videos. Or would it be better to just use 1 cable for 2 risers? And again I'm confused here because some sources say that you shouldn't use 1 cable for 2 risers for some reason and others say that's totally fine. Basically I'd like a clarification if anyone can offer one. Thanks :D [link] [comments]
Best Riser (Reliable) (from actual experience please) Posted: 07 Sep 2021 01:03 PM PDT I have a small rig that will be expanded in the future, but for right now I need 1 Riser for a 3060. I will only have Molex power for the riser and the 8pin for the GPU until I upgrade to a full mining rig case and new PSU. I was looking at GPURisers.com and while they have great reviews, I only need 1 right now, and not the 6 pack. Just looking for thoughts and you what users use. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Does anyone operate as a US-based LLC or S-Corp? Posted: 06 Sep 2021 08:35 PM PDT Hi there, This year i have a little over $20k in expenses, $8k in mining income and $8k in gains. I have a meeting with my CPA in a week, but i am looking to educate myself in the meantime. How did you setup your llc? how do you track and report? what tools do you use? Do you just mine or mine+ invest? How do you pay yourself or take a distribution when you want some cash? Thanks for any input you can provide! [link] [comments] |
