[US] Congress wants to force-liquidate cryptocurrency IRAs of all Americans by 2023

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 08:37 PM PDT

This looks like another attack on cryptocurrency and sovereignty of the individual overall to me, and it is also part of the same exploitative infrastructure bill. This affects all forms of tax-advantaged non-custodial investment (self-directed IRAs / checkbook IRAs).

    https://www.advantaira.com/blog/urgent-action-needed-to-protect-your-self-directed-ira/

    See sections 138312 and 138314: https://waysandmeans.house.gov/sites/democrats.waysandmeans.house.gov/files/documents/SubtitleISxS.pdf

Several other IRA companies have notified their customers about this and are urging them to reach out to their representatives. Another example I've found:

Congress has proposed changes to the laws governing IRAs as part of their $3.5 trillion reconciliation package. In its current form, their proposal would prohibit IRAs from investing in most alternative assets. All accounts holding these assets would need to liquidate them by the end of 2023.

How would the proposed legislation affect me? The proposed legislation would prohibit IRAs from holding the following types of investments:

    — Private Placements (e.g. hedge funds, real estate funds, private equity funds, etc.)

    — Checkbook Control IRA LLCs and Trusts

    — Minority interests in LLCs that are 10% owned by the IRA or accountholder

    — Investments that require the IRA owner to be an accredited investor

IRAs holding any of the above investments would lose all tax advantages previously available to the IRA.

I think companies should start accepting stablecoins before Bitcoin or other altcoins and here’s why.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:31 PM PDT

Bitcoin has been a great investment and we all know that. However people and companies that are still unfamiliar with crypto or not ready to take the risk yet might feel a little discouraged when Bitcoin drops 50% in price every now and then. This will definitely slow down adoption.

A better way of making companies more familiar with crypto is to start out in the beginning at least with stablecoins. I'll give them a sense of what crypto is and they'll slowly start expanding and accepting Bitcoin and altcoins. If they don't trust USDT (cause of the whole controversy around it) there plenty of other legit stablecoins. USDC has a much more back up then USDT. USDR is backed up by gold. EURST is fully backed by US dollars. And the list goes on. Bottom line is, accepting stablecoins is a better tradition than accepting Bitcoin right away and scare away possible adopters.

Investing in the cryptocurrency market was the best decision of my life.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 10:17 AM PDT

Well, we've all heard stories of how crypto and DeFI have changed the lives of certain people, I can totally relate.

I'm a finance major graduate, and let me tell you, university didn't educate me as half as what I learnt in the crypto market. Once I got into this market, I could see how the banking sector keeps our assets under its full control, and banks are making billions on our accounts.

I'm not saying that the crypto market is a paradise, but at least it's a place where you could manage your assets, and you would know that you can be earning the best income possible. Just a small comparison: investing in pools like Bonded finance vs investing in banks, which is more beneficial? We all know the answer.

DeFi is he future of the financial markets!

    Challenge for the bears!

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:52 AM PDT

I've compiled a list of reasons why I'm bullish for Q4 2021. My challenge for you bears is to come up with as many reasons to be bearish.

    • BTC supply on exchanges is the lowest it's been since 2017, and we all know how that went.

      • Institutions and billionaires are buying crypto in the hundreds of billions. Could they be accumulating for something?
    • El Salvador adopting BTC with many other countries looking into to doing the same, or at least something similar.

      • Tajikistan just joined with FTM to make their CBDC
    • Twitter just integrated Strike so that it's users can transfer BTC almost instantly to anyone else on Twitter.

    • Overall crypto adoption is increasing exponentially.

    • Potential BTC ETF on the horizon. ( this one is purely speculative, but the potential is too huge to ignore)

    • Q4 has been bullish more than it's been bearish. I know there aren't many data points to work from, but green is still green.

Let's be clear, i'm not trying to change anyone's mind here; I'm just hoping to spark some (hopefully) focused discussion.

Hopefully we see a list with as many or more reasons to be bearish. Then us bulls will change our minds. Maybe. Probably not. We'll see.
