One day Bitcoin will have been online for so long that no one alive on Earth will have lived its debut

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 09:20 PM PDT

One day it'll be common knowledge that Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin in 2008, just like today we all know Einstein discovered general relativity, or that Socrates did, well... Socrates, back in Ancient Greece. But the thing is, there will be no one alive on Earth who can personally claim to have lived it. It'll have been so lobg ago! There will be people for whom Bitcoin has been generational wealth for decades. How crazy is that?

    Weimar?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT

I am a person that sees "worst case"...so I want to know if I'm being paranoid or not. I'm seeing things that make me very, very uncomfortable.

    1. The rapid rise of real estate, especially luxury real estate. In California, it is NOT uncommon to see nice track homes that are 3,000 sq foot going for around 1.8-2 mill. These are not mansions, these are not architecturally significant. These are track homes where engineers, software sales people, and a lot of white collar lives.
    2. Social unrest-a few of my friends see this, most don't comment. Have we forgotten the riots? The political scene is turning uglier and uglier...and I think things are becoming more socialist. Being labeled xyz if you don't agree with a topic. I'm finding myself just not talking anymore...seems conversation doesn't exist, anger/agree with us does.
    3. A lot of people making a lot of money-since the pandemic began, I know many people who have gotten raises. These are normal people. I see a lot of people making well over $10,000 a month. I know people saying $2,500 rent is normal.
    4. Ignoring what's going on/a tale of two cities. I see this primarily in older (50+) people I know. They live in nice suburbs and their equity is up $500,000. They have no concern for homelessness. It seems it's not on their radar, or at least they are hiding this. Los Angeles is rapidly reminding me of terminator 2 yet it's ignored.
    5. The winners and losers from digitization. I know a lot of college grads who are on the other side of #3-they did what society told them, they went to college. They are between 26-32-they have NO assets. They rent rooms yet they have normal jobs...not rent apartments, they rent rooms. What happens as they get close to 40s?

I don't want agreement. I want to know-am I being melodramatic? Are things much different than I imagine or is society shifting, fast, and these are actually happening?

Surviving 72 hours on Bitcoin in El Zonte

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:48 AM PDT

So I stumbled upon this video about a guy who is trying to survive on Bitcoin over in El Zonte for 72 hours and thought I would share. He seems like a bitcoin n00b which I assume most people are and it's pretty interesting regarding the challenges he faced.

Thought it would be good to share and discuss, for example, I wasn't aware of the Bitcoin Beach app seemingly being a proprietary method of transacting? Has anyone here ever been to El Zonte, were you able to transact without issue what did he miss?

    Just curious.

    Bitcoin Saved Me

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:28 PM PDT

After writing: Sorry for the ramblings,

Earlier this year, after years of hesitation, I purchased my first batch of satoshis and slowly began my DCAing.

Before this, I had very little hope on the outlook of my financial situation, of owning a place to live, and on life in general. I had lost a good friend to suicide after the onset of the pandemic. It was the first time someone I loved had passed on.

In mourning I turned to the bottle, became a terrible drunk, gained more weight than I'm comfortable revealing, and was terrible with my money. In short, I was the least healthy in all aspects of my life as I'd ever been before.

Something in me reminded me about Bitcoin around the time the wall street craziness started. My good friend had told me in the past "whatever you do, just buy bitcoin" before I cut him off after his relapsing. He knew I was pissed at him, but left me with what I know now was a nugget of wisdom in his state of chaos.

I remembered. I always had, but was too cautious and never REALLY looked into it. Something about this year changed though.

In my terrible state of mental and physical health, I eventually became so passionate about what Bitcoin could mean, what it could do, that I basically didn't have any choice but to buy.

Today I have hope. I have better habits (in progress) and am working towards being my healthiest self again.

Most of all, today I have Satoshis.

    Thank you Bitcoin.

    Thank You.

    Running a bitcoin node

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 09:40 AM PDT

I've made the big jump, people. I've started up and spooled my first bitcoin network node up. I can't share this news with my family or friends -- because they'd react like I installed a new app and was bragging about it -- so here I am before you. I don't want to share details or anything but I don't know how to express this sense of satisfaction I have from spending the hours to get this all up and running.

If energy isn’t decentralized, how does Bitcoin maintain sovereignty? No energy, no network. If you had no access to electricity, how does this impact the value bitcoin?

For poor people and people that hate volatilty in Salvador, BTC rollout is a godsend

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 02:38 AM PDT

I am hating that few people seem to get the point, that its not only BTC being made "legal" in Salvador, they are deploying a really smart infrastructure with a USD-BTC-Lighting ecosystem that allows people to not even touch Bitcoin volatility if they dont want, they can keep their DOLLARS, they just dont need a reason to use cash because no comissions (FUCK visa-mastercard and the banks). This is a big fuck you to the financial system and a big win for poor people, speculation with the price of bitcoin is more for middle class which can invest but also anyone that wants to have a FREE TRUE SAVINGS ACCOUNT IN DOLLARS (fuck 0,5% APY of the banks) can also can send BTC through lightning to an exchange like OKEX and then get to a DeFi Wallet to put usd stablecoin in 20% APY or something. Revolutionary? YES
