I should have switched to HiveOS a long time ago. Posted: 16 Aug 2021 05:38 AM PDT I have been using windows based mining programs like claymore, Phoenix, and nanominer for a couple years now. I used them because it was how I learned to mine and felt most comfortable with them and windows. Recently I kept having miners drop offline and not restart, saw hashrates being much lower, saw calculated hashrates always staying below reported rates, and would get random windows updates even though I had them disabled. I decided to switch to hive so I have a bit more control and to cut windows from the equation and fuck am I happy with them. I get more shares and a better hash rate while running the same overclocks. I have been using them for about a week and have not had to restart one rig since then and have only one invalid share. If you're using a windows platform and have any of the issues I listed, try hive. It's really easy to setup and works fantastic That's all, just trying to help some people that may be having the same problems I was. [link] [comments]

Question About ERGO for miners in the US Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:59 AM PDT I've been mining for almost a year now casually. Mining ETH to Ethermine -> Binance.us exchange -> my bank account. Everything by the book and legal. I'm not a holder. I've noticed that with the LHR/TI cards, the playfield has started to look a little different and sometimes it is more profitable to mine RVN or ERG. Well Binance.us doesn't support ERG. My first question is: How are you all turning your ERG to USD? I can't seem to find a US based exchange that will do this for me. Second, are there any solutions out there that autoswitch algorithms every day to help maximize profit? I've heard people suggest Nicehash, but I don't trust NH that much and also I read that it will not auto switch to ERG anyhow. Thanks in advance for your help friends. [link] [comments]

MSI GAMING TRIO 3090 is oily but pads looks ok Posted: 15 Aug 2021 09:25 PM PDT my card was oily and i know it's from the pads from reading. so i opened the card and did see all the oily stuff but the pads don't look bad. 3mm and 2mm attached looking puffed and good color not burned or anything malformed. Could be that the oil is enough for changing and i don't know what todo. second question, in order to get to the other side of the card and detach the heatsink to change pads there, i need to unscrew some more screws which one of them has the factory seal that will void my warranty. any advice on how to tackle this? any help much appreciated. Anyone got the 6600 XT to work in Ubuntu 20.04? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 05:45 PM PDT I have been trying to get my mining software to detect the card to no avail. I installed three different versions of amdgpu-pro on 2 different kernel versions, but still is not detected. I tried gminer, teamredminer and phoenixminer. clinfo shows the following: I have my card attached to a PCIe 1X port through a riser. lspci also can see the card: I followed this guide. Is there anything missing? [link] [comments]

AMD GPU power - Software vs Wall Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:06 AM PDT Hi, Today my wall adapter arrived to measure my power draw at the wall and I'm confused... When idle, my 8600k/6700 XT system fluctuates around 81-83w at the wall (AMD software says my GPU is using 28w during this time). If I were to take this software reading at face value, my system minus GPU would be around 55w. When mining ETH, the AMD software says I'm using 77w @ 47.4mh/s. At the wall, it reads 141-142w. 142w minus the 55w "non-gpu" power gives me 87w GPU power. I expected this increase - but I thought from the way most people spoke about AMD software, it would be pulling a lot more from the wall compared to software, especially when most I spoke to told me it would be more like 100-120w from the wall when for me, it's 10w increase. Is the software in general 10-15w below what it actually pulls in general, or does it change from card to card? [link] [comments]
HiveOS - GPU Detected DEAD error - using same settings that were stable for a week? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 07:57 PM PDT I've been having an issue over the last couple days (after my two Vega 56 GPU rig has been running stable for a week), where it will now run about 3-5 minutes before it just shuts off or sometimes gives the "GPU 1 Detected: DEAD" error. I'm mining with Team Red Miner and the cards are overclocked. The thing is, they ran fine with the exact same settings for the last week with not a single crash. Anyone have any ideas as what could all the sudden cause this ? Appreciate any help! [link] [comments]
Warning: AMD 21.6.1 drivers causes a reduction in hashrate compared to 21.4.1 Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:32 AM PDT Yesterday I updated my software from 21.4.1 to 21.6.1 and one of my cards is hashing at <50% speed. The second card is hashing poorly as well, but not as bad as the first one. Reversed the driver and all is good now.
This may not apply to everyone, might be a specific problem for myself. Just putting it out there in case anyone runs into the same problem. I'm welcome to any suggestions if anyone has any insight.
On another note, weirdly enough, I upgraded to the beta 21.8.1 driver and hashing speeds is back up to normal.
(Yes my hashrate is lower than it should be, for some reason TeamRedMiner completely fails to open and I have no idea why.
