Optimizing mining earnings with decentralized VPN’s? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 01:26 AM PDT Hi all, is anyone else hosting a Mysterium node or something similar to supplement their mining income? Mysterium is simply a decentralized VPN which allows you to share your internet connection and operate as a node in the network, earning tokens without any special hardware. Hopr and Sentinel also work in the same manner I believe. Matt Long made $20 in his first month which would almost cover my internet bill so hoping for results like this. $MYST can be run on pretty much any device and has a small mcap so also hoping for moonshot gains there as well. Only concern was someone using my connection for illicit purposes but I don't believe I've EVER seen a lawsuit for using TOR which would run close legally. From all of my research it seems users are protected in most Western countries anyway…. Should all home miners be running them? Which ones should we be using in addition to our setups? Thanks! Posted: 19 Aug 2021 06:56 AM PDT Accidently un-installed start_eth. How can I recover what I lost? When I re-installed NBMiner_Win It gave me a new miner address. Help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
I would need a lot of GPUs but from where? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:36 AM PDT Hi, what is the best way to order a lot of GPUs at once? I could order them through European Retail Stores but most of them only allow 2-10 per Order. Chinese Sellers on Alibaba have some of the highest prices + Customs is way to unprofitable to do in Europe. Can I just contact the Manufacturers? I would need around 250-500 GPUs. How can I prevent ESD or any kind of component damage on a wood / plastic Shoe Rack? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:26 AM PDT I'm really new to mining and I need a rig, the problem is I'm really scared of what ESD might do to my components... I don't want to pay a hundred dollars for a rig and build it myself sounds like a scary bad idea, so I'd like to buy something like this stackable Shoe Rack with Iron Bars and maybe (i don't know if it's a good idea) insulate the iron bars with electrical tape Should I buy that or a classic stack of cheap wooden shoes? I would like to know how proper rig prevents ESD and how can i prevent it on mine, any advices? [link] [comments]

Do I really need PSUs that match the TDP on a mining only machine? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 02:40 AM PDT Hi everyone I am totally new to mining and the happy owner of an 8X6600 XT mining rig @ 244MH/s. I got two PSUs for powering the whole system (1 RM850 for 4 GPUs and the motherboard, and 1 RM750 for 4 GPUS). This should exactly match the GPU's maximal power consumption (150W to 160W each) Including the 80 or 85% efficiency cut. However, while mining ethereum, I see a total power consumption of 496W at wall. This is way below the max reported consumption when running Furmark. My question is if it is safe to use just the 850W PSU (It has enough connectors for all 8 GPUs) And repurpose the other one for something else, as long as I stick to only mining. Also for other coins, Nicehash calculator shows that those GPUs use only 60W for Ravencoin and Zcash. This is especially interesting to know considering some mining frames have only enough space for one PSU, and PSUs over 1000W become very expensive very fast and my OCD won't let me leave a second PSU dangling on the side. Is it safe to plug in 2 wire shorted 24pin mobo cable into motherboard? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 07:35 AM PDT Hello yall, I bought a 2 set of HX 1050w PSU awhile back. One with shorted/soldered 2 wire (Black and green). Just wondering if it is safe to plug it in a motherboard. [link] [comments]

How can I power more cards? Buy another PSU? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 07:05 AM PDT Hi All, I have two rigs: Rig 1: 650W PSU RTX 3070 non-lhr @ 61 MH Rig 2: 550W PSU GTX 1060 6GB @ 18MH GTX 1660 SUPER @ 31.5MH I have space for more cards on both motherboards, but both of my PSUs have no more 6 or 8 pin power cables available, for risers or cards. Could I just buy another PSU, plug it into a wall, and plug more cards into it? Does the extra PSU have to be connected to the motherboards in some way or can it just power the cards straight from the wall? [link] [comments]
I don't get how people don't understand what eth 2.0 will do to gpu mining? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 06:22 AM PDT I see posts on this sub every day about people getting into gpu mining just now and making giant purchases and when asked in the comments what their plan is for eth 2.0 on numerous occasions the answer is always. "I'll mine raven or ergo". I don't get how you could do so little research that you'd be willing to drop tens of thousands of $ and not understand the basics of crypto mining. The nethash for ravencoin is 6 Th/s. Theres Eth mining factories with that much, the Ethereum net hash is 600 Th/s. That's a lot more gpus mining eth than raven. If you didn't already know if Ravens nethash doubles to 12 Th/s overnight for example you would be making 50% less the next day mining raven with your same gpu. Now imagine how much less you'd make when eth 2.0 hits and ravens nethash gets that 600 th/s lol. You could consider "well it'll split between the coins it won't all go to raven some will go to ergo others will be sold". 600 th/s is massive itll destroy the top 20 coins to mine altogether if its split between them. And this 600 th/s isn't just because people randonly choose to mine it. It's because even with 600 th/s you can still make so much with a single gpu theres that many transaction on the network every day. To keep up with defi and nft, ect transactions that happen all day on the Ethereum network. Theres nobody making Raven or Ergo transactions anywhere nearly as much as eth. ETH is profitable as fuck to mine because the circumstances were perfect for it. Bitcoin halved last year and people were given covid $ from the government and crpyto exploded from Elon and brand new markets like Defi and NFTs exploded with cash which all run on etheruem network, a proof of work mineable coin which because of insane demand for transactions on the network became a cash cow to mine. Theres only a few valid arguments against what I'm saying one is that Eth 2.0 could continue to be delayed as it always has and it still worth it to buy gpus because ROI would be doable then but that's risky. Another thing people say is that 40% of eth nethash is asics. Even still 300 th/s would destroy all profitable coins still. This is how I see this playing out cause it makes sense: eth 2 0 hits and this 600 th/s will go somewhere, thats people money after all they're not gonna just just turn off their gpus and put them in the closet. gpu market will be flooded with cards making the supply of them oversaturated and cheap. And the people that believed in mining from years ago will continue to mine and hodl like they did I'm all bear markets despite pennies and the people that hopped on for the ride this year will hop off. Ofcourse some new generation of miners that believe will mine their pennies too and hopefully they get rich in the next big bull run too with smart decisions as things change, like maybe making switches to asic mining or staking. Please do your research. [link] [comments]
Help please - stuck with only 1 GPU on a Z490 board?! Posted: 19 Aug 2021 06:05 AM PDT Hoping someone can help me with a frustrating problem I'm having with getting a second (and hopefully a third) GPU recognised by my Asus ROG Strix Z490-G gaming motherboard. Spec is: Asus ROG Strix Z490-G gaming running Windows 10 64 Intel 10400F CPU 16Gb DDR4 RAM 3000 Mhz 1TB NVME M2 Boot Drive in the first M2 slot (the highest one on the board with the heat sink) RTX 3070 (non LHR) via a x16 to x16 riser, with HDMI out to monitor 1x Corsair CV550 bronze PSU 1x Corsair TX650 bronze PSU Manual is available to download here: https://rog.asus.com/uk/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z490-g-gaming-model/helpdesk_manual The machine runs well and mines as expected with the 3070 on the riser, but I cannot seem to get it to connect to a second GPU - a 3060 Ti LHR on a 1x PCI to 16x PCI riser no matter what I try. I'm using a very similar set up with 3 cards on an Asus ROG Strix Z490-F with no issues and would ultimately like to have the 3070, 3060 Ti and a 3070 LHR running off this G motherboard. I've done a lot of googling and, without any joy, so far have: -updated the bios -updated Nvidea drivers - currently running 471.XXX -searched in the bios for "graphics", "video", "gpu" and "display" for a second to enable the second PICe x16 slot without luck. -restarted the machine multiple times Can anyone offer any pointers please?
