Windows deleted Pheonix miner last night, against my rules/exceptions Posted: 27 Aug 2021 07:34 AM PDT I cant even find a trace of pheonix miner 5.6d. Odd it also took out my 5.6c version, but IO could find that in the quarantine. I could NOT find the 5.6d version. Im not please that Microsoft gets into my system top remove program I put there and want to be there. Ill just re download and install, but this is crap. Did this happen to anyone else? Posted: 27 Aug 2021 07:20 AM PDT I was thinking about buying a 5x1070 complete rig for $1750. The lowest price in my country for a 1070 is $350 so the price seems good, but I don't know if 1070s are still good for mining today. I also thought about just buying 2x3060ti lhr for $1600 and building a rig myself? Looking at whattomine it seems like the 1070s are a better deal but I'm not very experienced so I thought I should ask you guys for your opinion? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Easy way to get 120 MHs at 85 watts with the RTX 3070 LHR mining ERGO Posted: 26 Aug 2021 02:44 PM PDT Finally got something worth something with this GPU. I have tried everything and simply could not go above 106 MH/s. While adding NBMiner to my tuner application, I discovered a very simple way to get my two gimped RTX 3070 LHR cards to ~120 MH/s at ~85 watts in ERGO. This is not a LHR unlocker. This is the simple LHR semi-ungimper method:
Replace wallet with your own and point it to your device, if you have multiple. nvidia-smi -i 1 -rgc 3. In your admin CMD, run your newly created batch file. 4. Enjoy Please write your results if you try it out. Link to video that shows it: https://youtu.be/wZTsVbgek5E [link] [comments]
Hot spot temp after repad on Gigabyte Gaming OC Waterforce WB too high Posted: 26 Aug 2021 11:25 PM PDT Been playing around trying to replace pads on my new Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 Waterforce WB GPU but I can't quite get it right it seems. I've used 3mm Gelid Ultimate under the backplate and 2mm Gelid Extreme on the VRAM. Being the idiot I am I also decided to replace the other pads on the capacitors and mofsets etc, which Inhave done with 1mm Thermal Geizzly Minus Pad 8 1mm and now it seems something is preventing the vram and GPU core making good contact with the heatsink. Running timespy my hot spot hits 105C and throttles slightly and the VRAM hits 88C. Doing more memory intensive tasks like mining sees the VRAM getting to 110c quite easily unless the Power limit is down to 50c which is the only way I can keep VRAM at 100c or less. It seems like the pad replacement is working because all temps are lower idle. But at full load things are overheating too quickly. Worse than stock in fact which shouldn't be. Is it possible some of the 1mm areas should in fact be 0.5mm? [link] [comments]
Anybody tried deshroud a reference/MSI blower Vega 56/64 card? Posted: 26 Aug 2021 07:12 PM PDT If so does it make a difference? I'm looking to replace the oh so loud stock fans with maybe Noctua ones, but most mod I've found just slapped a fan on top of the intake and called it a day. [link] [comments]
Growing hash rate doesn’t cause price increase Posted: 26 Aug 2021 11:12 AM PDT Seeing as there is so much debate about what happens when all the ETH hash power splashes into the other mining protocols, this is an interesting paper about the relationship between BTC hashrate and price. Link to the extended paper but for the lazy, read the last 5 lines of the paper's abstract. I'm keen to get the opinion of the sub on this but the takeout for me is: adding more hashrate will not cause a price increase, but increasing price causes more hashrate. In other words, fundamentals + sentiment remain key for any coin to keep up with the new hashrate, unless the hash power gets switched off because it's no longer profitable. [link] [comments]
Mining rig restarting - power delivery issue? Posted: 26 Aug 2021 05:00 PM PDT I recently acquired a 3070 Ti and once I put it into my mining rig it started frequently hard rebooting. Up until this point the rig has been 24/7 stable with 4 cards for the past 6+ months. Running HiveOS and I checked all of the system and miner logs and there are no errors, the system just immediately restarts. I tried many things like using different risers and tweaking the BIOS but ultimately this seems like a power related issue. Rig specs are: EVGA 1300w G2 Intel Pentium G440 MSI Z170A Pro Carbon Gaming 2x4gb DDR4 2400 Memory PCE164P-N03 VER 006 Risers 2x 3060 @ 125W 1x 3060ti @ 157W 1x 3070 @ 157W 1x 3070TI @ 250W (new) Total PSU load with all 5 cards is only 814W and about 900W at the wall, well under the 1300W spec I temporarily installed Windows 10 on the rig so I could get some more information using HWINFO like the voltages the cards are seeing. At idle the 12v PCIE slot and connectors are all 12.1-12.2V across the board. At load things get interesting, the slot power from a few risers were dropping to ~11.4. The connectors were around 11.86-12.04v. I recabled everything to run off of 4 pin molex with no more than 2 risers per string. This brought the PCIE slot voltages to the 11.736 to 11.893 range. The rig was more stable but still rebooted after an hour. I'm wondering if this version of risers are just crap for voltage regulation or if I need to up my PSU cable gauge which is currently at 18AWG. Maybe the PSU is getting tired and needs to be replaced? Ultimately, I ended up paralleling a second power supply to provide power to only the 3070 TI. Since doing this the rig has been running without a hiccup for over 3 days. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Thoughts on coin-switching pools? Posted: 26 Aug 2021 12:41 PM PDT Just wondering people opinions on pools like ProHashing and Zergpool, which auto-switch coins based on profitability, and pays out in a wide variety of coins. I don't often see these pools mentioned. It seems most people either use NiceHash, or mine Eth or an altcoin that they are bullish on. I personally want the highest returning coin to USD so I can pay my bills. [link] [comments] |
