What Altcoins do you think deserves more attention?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 06:53 AM PDT

With BTC going above $50K recently, I think we're about to get into another altcoin craze. This is the time when you see people making Insane profits on alts.

There's a good tendency that most alts will pump during a bull run but there's always this one legit coin out there that doesn't get enough attention as much as it deserves.

The essence of this post would be to bring light and attention to those Cryptos we think are undervalued and deserves to be getting much more attention than it does currently, not an attempt to pump your bags but rather creating awareness and I'll go first.

    SYLO

Now I think SYLO is easily the most underrated low cap Crypto I've seen. You might wonder why if you've never heard of it before or know what it's all about.

Sylo is an ecosystem made up of digital consumer wallet software, applications, infrastructure & developer tools to usher in a world of Smart Money. Sylo is a smart wallet application with multiple features like messaging, Crypto support, DeFi features, NFT support as well as payment options.

You can think of the Sylo app as your regular messenger app which has metamask integrated into it which allows you to chat, call and store your assets easily on the same app. It allows you to chat in a decentralized manner while being sure that your data and private information are safe and not being sold.

The surprising part is that SYLO has a very small market cap of $17million(at the time of writing this) and it's Listed on Kucoin, Gates, Bittrex and uniswap.

I think anyone would agree with me that a coin with this kind of product and fundamentals should be valued higher than this.

Now shoot me those undervalued altcoins no one is talking about. Let's go.

IDO of BNPL Pay happening on Sept 14th (on Thorstarter). Here are my 'intern notes' about the whitepaper

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 07:46 AM PDT

    Original Tweet by (@jimbobkos)

    https://twitter.com/jimbobkos/status/1430804615411367937

    Link to the whitepaper:

    https://bnplpay.io/docs/bnpl-white-paper.pdf

    1) Objective: Create a relatively more efficient method of banking compared to the traditional banking world.

    2) Ecosystem information: Comparing both worlds, within the BNPL ecosystem, Node Operators (NOs) are 'Banks', BNPL tokens are like bank equity/shares, Stakers are like shareholders. Thus, the more stakers staking tokens, the more equity in the NOs = lower credit risk for lenders.

    3) Banking concepts:

    a. 20% of interest received goes to NOs (10%) and Stakers (10%), likened to spread/cost of doing business and retained profits to shareholders, respectively.

    b. Staked Assets to Liquidity Ratio, essentially is your Solvency ratio (Assets/Liabilities)

    4) Target market: Uncollaterialised or more commonly known as unsecured borrowers, presuming both crypto native and non-crypto native (given the example in the whitepaper implied a non-crypto native person

    5) Things I like:

    a. Once delinquency occurs (on the basis no extensions are arranged), capital losses are realised immediately (rather than provisioned to be written off in future), with the shortfall coming directly from NOs and Stakers (through slashing).

    b. Lenders have liquid pool tokens, as such value is realised in real time. LP tokens are priced according to: the value of their pool - default losses + accrued interest, and can be sold on secondaries (like aTOKEN and cTOKEN)

    c. Sustainable flow of capital thru the ecosystem, borrowers pay with stablecoins, repays capital + interest, smart contract divvies interest to lenders and NOs/Stakers which are Token holders. As such, an intrinsic way of valuing the BNPL token through clear value accrual.

    d. Liquidity mining program to remove the 'chicken or egg' problem with lenders providing liquidity

    e. Good alignment of value accrual of NOs with their underwriting quality. They receive all income upon maturity. I.e. not incentivised to write underperforming loans and then leave the network.

    6) Things that raise a yellow flag:

    a. Combination of KYC requirements + entering the lending/banking environment attracts serious regulatory scrutiny. For those veterans in the group, think SALT Lending platform (Somewhat) in 2018.

    b. Targeting non-crypto natives is a long term play, adoption is difficult given the steep learning curve and friction for this audience entering the space. Conversely, the reason why DeFi works so well is because it targets crypto-native people and has no regulatory burden

    c. Writing unilateral loans is incredibly laborious, even with loan document templates and has much more friction compared to lending/borrowing pools (e.g. AAVE, Compound).

    7) Questions + Answers by BNBPL PAY official account

    a. Q: Has the team got individuals (e.g. Ex-bankers) or entities lined up to become Node Operators?

    a. ANSWER: Our founders are deeply connected in the traditional finance space, and we are working on partnerships with entities both to operate nodes, as well as be key borrowers upon launch. Stay tuned for our partnership announcements!

    b. Any customers who are ready to borrow funds?

    b. ANSWER: As mentioned above, we are in the works in partnerships, and realize this is a key concern. To that end, we have chosen our strategic investors and backers primarily from the traditional finance space rather than crypto funds to allow for customer acquisition on day one.

    c. What type of capital do Lenders need to provide and likewise borrowers need to repay back?

    c. Answer: Loans will be conducted with stablecoins such as USDT and USDC. It is up to the NOs on which asset they wish to accept in their pools based on their target customer and operational needs. USDC and USDT adoption varies geographically, and different currencies such as EUR.

    d. Whitepaper mentioned there will be dashboards NOs can use to manage their book? Are there any wireframes that they can share on what these will look like?

    d. ANSWER Unfortunately nothing we can share publicly at the moment, but the aim of our dashboards will display all relevant metrics to our lenders, to give full transparency when making their decisions. Once our dApp is live, please let us know if there's anything we can do to improve it!

    e. What is a fail safe/risk management approach for the scenario if NOs get slashed below 750k BNPL tokens?

    e. ANSWER e- If a node is slashed below 750K BNPL Tokens, users will not be able to deposit more funds into the pool, and the node will not be able to issue new loans until they restore their balance back to 1M or greater.

I have real Bitcoin but I am interested in exposure to crypto in my brokerage account. Is GBTC trading at a discount an attractive entry point for going long?

What determines the scenario for it to trade to Bitcoin's net asset value?

Do retail investors have to hold for 6 months as well?

    Appreciate the help.

Working on/implementing a good concept isn’t enough anymore. You also need a solid marketing plan.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 05:15 PM PDT

They market became really saturated. So if a project is in fact legit and is working on a good enough concept, it also needs to give that concept exposure since it's not as easy as it was in the past for people to find out about you between the hundreds of new projects coming out every hour.

And it's really not that hard anymore, there are plenty of great marketing projects on the market right now. I recall there's one called Ojamu that has great marketing strategies and is pretty affordable. And there are plenty more. All a project needs to do is to hire one and they're see results quick enough trust me on that one.

Crypto News Digest: Cuba to Legalize Digital Currencies

What is volatility and how it affects crypto?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 04:42 PM PDT

2 types of volatility — external volatility (aka market) and implied volatility (aka internal). They are useful factors when understanding your assets.

    Factors Beyond Volatility

Volatility is not the only thing you should care about when looking at your (crypto) assets. Also note the other data and factors.

    • Micro Economy: Inflation of assets
    • Macro Ecosystem: Market Conditions. Market could change and that affects the assets.
    • Past Data: Beyond micro and macro markets it's also good to look at historical data to look at past data to get some reference and understanding. Note: Past data does not define future performance

    Historical Volatility vs Implied Volatility

There are two types of volatility. One is the market volatility and the other is implied volatility. In a very simple way it's basically historical volatility and future volatility.

Historical volatility: It is based on past data and on all the information that is already given.

Future volatility: It is based on people's expectations of the assets and here you calculate based on how people pay for the expected assets.

    Higher Volatility = Higher Risk

The general notion about volatility is that higher volatility = high risk.

Sometimes it is called educated gambling or educated speculation but it's not always true. The general notion of higher volatility means that the price will move more and when the prices move more, higher risk will be experienced. But it really depends on the trading strategy because that will help to mitigate different risks as when you have something with high volatility you can do something else to try and offset the risk or try to reduce that risk.

    What is Market Volatility?

It's a statistical measure of how "spread" is the value from the middle average. More spread (like a pancake) means higher volatility. Less spread (like a mountain) means lower volatilty.

    1. Uses Past Data: It's historical volatility or using past data to get some understanding of where the asset is right now.
    2. Fluctuation of Returns: It is the fluctuation (movement) of the returns of the prices of the assets. It is measured by measuring the spread of the returns so you can think of it as two bell curves. One bell curve is flat so almost like a very low middle line and it spreads out very widely like a pancake. You have another bell curve like the Mount Everest so it has a very high peak and everything is very narrow towards the peak.
