How many bch is lost ?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 12:46 AM PDT

Most coins (including eth) have almost 100% circulating supply, because post 2015 we had hardware wallets and people learnt more about self custody.

Current bch circulating supply is 18.8m. How many btc prefork has been lost ? Can we say up to 40%, so bch has 10-12m circulating supply ?

    Best bitcoin wallets

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:10 PM PDT

Whats considered to be the best general purpose wallet for many different coins? One advantage i see the exchanges have is being able to use a bunch of different coins, and right now im keen to take bch for a test drive but that means another wallet. I bought someone a pizza years ago and he set me up with mycelium wallet, ive bought some btc through that a couple of times, also through two exchanges, and ive got a LN wallet. Ive got some stuff staked on an exchange, and atomic, which im happy with, but if i get another wallet for bch i want to transfer all my btc to it, ideally would do LN as well, but spend in bch. Is there a solution for this? Im already getting too many wallets... thats accounts on two exchanges and 4 wallets!

I see no uptake in usage for either BTC or BCH

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 02:33 PM PDT

Blocksize is an approximation, and for BTC it is lower than the ceiling at 0.995 (max 1.4), and BCH is at 0.540 (fork lol, 7 day average)

(This measure is better than tx count, since BTC uses heavy "batching". Not value either, because many txes are internal, or to exchanges, and naturally that shows too high for BCH since txes are cheap).

It tells me that new users into crypto is still low, maybe due to doubts still lingering since the most recent crash. Also, people trust that central banks can handle it, and not the least, they believe the official inflation numbers.

In already hyperinflated currencies, it is too late, because most people lost all their cash balances. Not too late really, but they have other problems, having less capacity to think forward.

What most people don't know, is that the high inflation leads to capital consumption in businesses, and even if you know, and try to up the prices with inflation, you can't, because you have competitors who don't know and therefore sell too cheaply. They will go bust, but it does not help you if they take you with them in the fall.

In countries which have their own historically inflating currency, it is common to express quotes in USD converted to local currency, getting paid in local currency, and the seller rebalances his bank accounts, making sure he is overweight dollar. That has up to now helped larger businesses which have the know-how.

But now, the dollar is in a precarious situation, with price inflation relative to real stuff expected (by me at least) to be 20% or more for many years.

It means the businesses that rely on a dollar cash balance can come into the same situation with capital consumption without their knowledge.

With inflation, you have to take action in advance. When your cash balance is devalued, and your capital is consumed, it is too late.

You fix it by having sound money, and for businesses, reduce capacity and fixed cost as much as possible, maybe go into hibernation for now.

Where did you hear first about BCH or crypto? What made you buy it for the first time?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 12:18 PM PDT

I imagine it's a far fetched move for someone who isn't coming from a technical background and had to research everything for himself.

US Government Pivots on Crypto Regulation to Surprise Attack on Proof of Stake Coins

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:42 PM PDT

    https://decrypt.co/77958/the-plot-against-crypto

TLDR; The USA government is conceding that BTC is already sufficiently captured, crippled, and compromised, and crypto exchanges are mostly in the bag as well, it's DEFI that the government is most worried about!

Suddenly Biden is saying that PoS coins must identify all of their users, an impossible task.

How Regulations Could Empower The Crypto Industry - 2021 Cases & Analysis

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:12 AM PDT

Often viewed as a hindrance to the market's potential, regulations might actually empower the crypto industry. The following guide provides a few instances on how regulations can benefit the market: How Regulations Could Empower The Crypto Industry

    • Increase levels of certainty to new investors, a draw card that eliminates the unpredictability for the long term feasibility.

    • Increase use cases, as with more regulation more fiat operating merchants can start accepting cryptocurrency as payment options. The more the governments are on board, the more the use cases increase.

    • Accountable asset ownership, meaning that users employing cryptocurrencies for illicit activities can better be managed due to rules and regulations in place to hinder them. Which leads to:

    • More positive market overview due to the nature in which crypto is used – for accountable payments rather than dark web antics. Which again, circles back to the first point.

Alternative to CashNodes.io or similar API

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 05:06 PM PDT

I was using https://cashnodes.io/ for statistics on BCH nodes, as well as simple statistics on my personal nodes through their search features. The site has been outdated since Tue Jun 22, 2021. I have three questions, I'd appreciate any help that could be provided:

    1. Does anyone know what happened, or why it is no longer updated?
    2. Is there an alternative site that I could use to accomplish the same use cases?
    3. Does anyone know what API was used for the site? I would possibly be able to create my own personal or public use site similarly, but I have not been able to find an API that would allow me to easily gather these statistics.
