I think BCH is a banned word in r/BitcoinBeginners Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:59 AM PDT I tried to post something about BCH and BTC, but it was automatically removed by the moderator within one second of posting it. I just wanted to ask what is the difference between those two. [link] [comments]

Has anyone ever wondered why this sub's been full of spam posts lately? Posted: 16 Aug 2021 04:01 AM PDT Like, really. The place is called r/BTC, yet I'm seeing a rather hefty amount of spam accounts and shilling to other coins. I mean, we're aware that this is named BTC, and the users are those who want Bitcoin as described in the white paper, so... Also, read.cash links are spammy but hey they're BCH-based most of the time until it doesn't. [link] [comments]

MERCHANT MONDAY - Because Bitcoin was meant to be spent! Posted: 16 Aug 2021 06:00 AM PDT Merchant adoption of Bitcoin Cash is where it's at. Here are the latest numbers:
If you know a business that might be interested in accepting Bitcoin Cash, try sending them to https://bitcoincashers.org/intro/for-merchants/. And if you convince a business to accept BCH, let us all know below! [link] [comments]
Best wallet for storing and spending? Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:18 PM PDT Hey guys just wondering what wallet you guys reccomend for storing and spending your bitcoin cash. Tossing up between blockchain app wallet or the bitcoin.com wallet. Cheers [link] [comments]
Thoughts for "outdated" hardware Posted: 16 Aug 2021 09:55 AM PDT So I've been wondering if there might be a way to do protien folding with old btc miners that aren't considered profitable anymore. I mean we are having these machines do several guesses a second trying to solve the cryptography. I thought it would be cool, if even possible, to have it guess the possible bonds/affinity for protiens, but wouldn't know how to even start to program something like that into sha256 hashes. This I know has value. I know you can donate some of your compiter or phone's processing power to science and they do this stuff already, but think it would be a good use case for old minners. Help with importing an electrum wallet into my Bitcoin.com app Posted: 16 Aug 2021 03:35 PM PDT So the short story is I am putting in my 12 word recovery phrase in the Bitcoin.com app but it won't import, saying that the phrase is wrong. I still have access to the old wallet I just want it off the Tails OS. Any thoughts? I'm not a savant with all this so use small words if possible. Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments]
Need advice on BTC investment and competitors/smaller alternative coins. Posted: 17 Aug 2021 12:05 AM PDT Hello! I have means to invest into BTC and I wanted to really go all in but then I thought maybe diversifying my portfolio is a better idea and get equal parts of my money invested into different cryptos. What I would like to ask is how much does it actually help with making your investments more stable and less susceptible to market crashes? I spent plenty of time looking at different coins and tokens and I gotta say, the cryptocurrency market is huge. I don't really know whether most of those currencies are actually decent and not scams but if at least 50% of all the cryptos are real and not scams then it is quite impressive indeed. Thing is, it's hard for me to say which platforms to trust. For example, there are things like SafeMoon which are rather shady, then there are big projects like Ripple or EOS that are not that scary to invest in but the attitude of people on subsequent subreddits makes them look like a cult of sorts which really puts you off IMO. So my worries are that if I invest everything into BTC I will be risking it all and if I invest into something else which isn't DOGE or SHIBA.INU which are memes or ETH which I actually considered and will probably invest into, I will be risking to lose my money entirely. Is it really a "you just can't win" situation where I'll have to take the bullet and risk everything on fewer coins rather than diversify and get more trouble and risk? On the side note, I found this very weird coin when looking online for cryptos. It is a…charity coin? I don't know, it looks super weird to me. Never seen anything like that and they are also somehow connected to SafeMoon. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:43 AM PDT Hello Everyone I've been thinking about applications that AnyHedge enables. It can be the next big thing that will drive adoption. The truth of the matter is at the moment people are much more comfortable having portion of their money tied to the local currency they use. And usually they will be looking for a place that pays interest on their money. The ProposalWe need a better version of AnyHedge contracts that will enable the person at the hedge side of the contract to close it at the next block. With that we will have the ability for people to lock the value of their coin for long term. And they will be able to spend or close it at anytime. We need three opcodes for the new contract to add this ability. The opcodes are similar to CheckTimeLockVerify.
All three will take two arguments, 1. the index of the input coins, 2. the value to check the block height with. If we have the ability to detect at which block a transaction was included in the blockchain then we can feed it with the correct data from the right oracle. And we'll be able to settle the contract without the need to trust the other party. Why I think AnyHedge contracts have the potential to go viral?I have a particular arrangement of an AnyHedge contract in mind. Which can be beneficial for both parties. The long side of the contract is known as the one taking the risk. It may bring the concern that there may not be enough demand for going long. But I've thought of an arrangement for the long side that will make it more interesting. Let me explain below. Lets say you have $1000 in BCH. And you want to go take $250 loan with it. Here's how you would be able to do it with AnyHedge. You will go long a contract that has $250 at Its hedge side. And you will sell $250 worth of BCH for USD. There you go, You have $250 to spend until the contract ends. And before the contract ends you have to buy back the BCH ($250) so you would be able to maintain the amount of BCH you had. As long as the value of BCH not going below 1/4 of Its original price (When the contract has started), You will be able to maintain the same amount of BCH you had once you pay back the loan. I can imagine people are willing to pay interest for taking loans like this. So the hedge side will be able to take some interest. And we all have seen how much these loan/interest services defi/cifi has become popular. Lets do this! Please leave a comment. [link] [comments]
