My thoughts on why the SEC is so desperate to quash the motion for a deposition of John Hinman. Posted: 17 Jul 2021 11:24 AM PDT No real conspiracies theories here on my end. In short, it has far less to do with Ripple and XRP and has much more to do with how it will jeopardize any future actions taken by the SEC against other cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin and Etherium. We know that John Hinman went on the news and publicly stated in a pretty convincingly official fashion that BTC and ETH are not securities. We also know that since then, the SEC has gone on record and claimed that Mr Hinman statements are not officially representative of the SEC. Not enough people in the crypto space seem to be taking this seriously in my opinion. Consider what is being called for by our legislators when we have prominent politicians such as Elizabeth Warren DEMANDING a regulatory crackdown on cryptocurrencies. If you think that somehow BTC and ETH are not a major focus of that then you're not paying attention to what is right in front of you. I think that the SECs motion to quash a deposition of John Hinman has far more to do with its FUTURE intentions of taking actions against BTC and ETH, and such a deposition would threaten the effectiveness of any such future actions, not to mention those against any less prominent cryptocurrency. This case is going to be used to set a PRECEDENT, and if it sets a bad one then the SEC will have failed to be nearly as much of a useful tool that the government can use in the future to restrict the cryptocurrency industry. I wouldn't expect the adversarial factions within the government to easily accept that possibility. It would take a lot more work to pursue regulation from some other angle and Congress isn't unified at all when it comes to passing new regulations. [link] [comments]
Incorrect address format for old Ripple address? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 06:24 AM PDT Hi there, I found a really old note with my old Ripple address and key but all of the services do not seem to recognize it: rECnmynR4QWrx3TscC5d8x5kCJZ3TDRZjzs Does this format look familiar? Did the address change at some point? I am sure this worked at some point [link] [comments]
Latest on SEC vs Ripple Lawsuit Posted: 17 Jul 2021 09:23 AM PDT In my latest video, I broke down recent updates in the SEC vs Ripple Lawsuit. I'm going to keep up with it more often because things are getting interesting. Judge Netburn seems to be siding with Ripple by granting them almost everything they ask for including SEC Internal Documents and allowing them to depose former SEC Director. In my opinion after this deposition, Ripple will have a clear path to the lawsuit ending in their favor. Then XRP will be in real price discovery phase. [link] [comments]
