    I made a Bitcoin valuation model that also generates buy-sell signals for trading

    Bitcoin has been called Digital Gold, a bank in cyberspace, and also a Ponzi scheme.

    If Bitcoin is digital gold, can it be valued like Gold? The more dollars that are exchanged for Gold, the more valuable Gold becomes. And then the value of all Gold (excluding industrial and ornamental use-cases) is approximately equal to the total value exchanged for it.

    If Bitcoin is an e-bank in cyberspace, you can think of it as a shared savings account between all owners, the balance of which is equal to the total amount deposited, and the units of Bitcoin owned by each individual are equivalent to bank shares held.

    If Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme, the same logic applies, the fair value of a Ponzi at any point in time is the same as the total amount investors have put into it.

    All of these are just different descriptions of "Store of Value", and they imply that Bitcoin is at least as valuable as the total value stored inside of it.

    This leads us to the first component of fair value, which is the total amount deposited. This is also approximately equal to the Realized Capitalization.

    But "Store-of-Value" is not all that Bitcoin is. With the advent of the lightning network and El-Salvador adopting it as a legal tender, Bitcoin has already cemented its status as a currency. In addition, because of its sovereign properties, it is also a call-option on becoming THE reserve currency of the world.

    For each day that Bitcoin resists attacks and doesn't die, it further proves its value proposition, and the call-option tends towards becoming ITM (In-The-Money). I've modeled this call-option premium with a regression with 'days without dying' as a predictor.

    The addition of these two pieces, the realized cap, and the call-option premium, leads us to a fair value of Bitcoin. As of today (7/14/2021), my model says the fair value of Bitcoin $29,206.

    Historically, cycle-tops have been approximately 3 MADs (Mean Absolute Deviations) away from fair-value, denoted by the red line, and cycle bottoms have been 1.5 MADs away, denoted by the green line.

    The green and red lines have historically functioned well as buy/sell signals. There have only ever been four buy/sell signals each in the history of Bitcoin, but they've correctly identified ALL cycle tops and bottoms.

    Problems with traditional real estate investments :

    • Illiquid Asset - Real estate is probably the only illiquid investment that middle-class people in their portfolio hold. Selling real estate is challenging in all markets. It becomes even more difficult in downtimes, and sellers often have to wait six months to one year before obtaining cash in place of their property. Therefore, the middle class shouldn't have a massive portion of their portfolio in an asset class from which they cannot withdraw easily.
    • Opaque - The real estate market is not only illiquid but also opaque. In stocks, bonds, and other securities, the listed prices are the same as transaction prices. However, in real estate, the listed prices are very different from the rates at which transactions occur. It is challenging for a buyer actually to know the correct buying price. The market is famous for buyers and sellers being ripped off by unscrupulous middlemen if they are not careful.
    • Low Returns And High Expenses - Real estate investments are known for providing low returns. Traditionally, the returns on real estate investments have been less than the rate of inflation. In the past few years, there was a sudden spike in the capital appreciation earned on real estate. The rentals made are also negligible. Also, to earn rent, a lot of time, money, and effort has to be put in. Also, many times, it is just challenging to rent outhouses. Hence, there is an element of risk as well. On the whole, the returns earned by real estate are comparable to risk-free investments even though many risks have to be taken. This is what makes reality a bad bet for the middle class.
    • Transaction Costs - Real estate also has abnormally high transaction costs. Firstly, each time a sale occurs, the government has to be given a large sum of money. Also, there are costs such as legal fees, brokerage, and appraisal costs involved in every real estate transaction. Hence, each time a transaction occurs, roughly 10% of the value is lost to transaction costs. This also contributes to the illiquidity point that has been mentioned above. However, the bottom line is that since the transaction costs are so high, buyers are left stuck with the property they purchased even if it turns out to be a mistake.

    The blockchain is full of scams and failures. And this can hurt investors, as well as other blockchain projects.

    Almost 92% of the blockchain projects fail. It is sad, but this is realty. Most of them do not seem to understand the market, and do not actually have a legit plan. If you ask me, I believe that the first reason behind this issue is that most projects set unrealistic goals. When you set an unachievable target, surely you will not reach your destination.

    Another important reason that turns a project into a flop is the lack of vision and market understanding. Most of these projects do not actually understand what the market actually lacks and how to meet its needs. It is why we see most investors are only interested in a few projects that have already proven their worth and quality.

    This is why investors have to do their own researches and to they have to deeply analyze the projects they want to invest in. Because one wrong investment can be very costly, and it might lead to huge losses, and who knows? Maybe it can result in a loss of the total capital.

    Scamming does not only hurt the investors, but it might also hurt other firms of the blockchain. Partnerships are one popular strategy followed by most of the projects around here, but imagine being a successful company, and losing all your profits and reputation because of a raw deal. Companies also have to be careful who they are teaming up with, for example "Gpool" have held back their launching till August, to give time to their team to analyze the deals and to have successful partnerships.

    Everyone has the right to invest in what they like, but remember you are responsible for your investment, do not take anything for granted!
