Are there any good reasons for why BTC is superior to BCH (in terms of technology and usage)

Which self hosted, open source BCH payment processor do you use, or would be your first choice if you don't actively use a BCH payment processor?

    Smart BCH progress?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:10 AM PDT

I normally dont bother much with smart contracts but since smart BCH will be a side chain that uses BCH for "gas" I am somewhat interested, Ive been googling trying to find more information but i cant find much. Is smart BCH live on the mainnet yet? I remember some mentions about it from a couple of months ago that stated it would go live in June but cant find anything now. If its not on mainnet yet what is the ETA? Is there perhaps a subreddit/other forum where i can find active discussion about smart BCH? Is there somewhere I can view smart contracts that are currently deployed on the test/main net?

Give me feedback on academic crypto idea

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 12:54 AM PDT

Hi Guys, I am wanting to get some feedback and gauge the interest level in a new crypto venture I have been considering (for a university level entrepreneurship unit). For the purposes of this post please disregard the technical capability to launch a project of this nature and focus purely on the idea. If you are in Africa bonus points to you if you can reply and give me your feedback!

I want to create a business model similar Terra - Luna mixed with some Crypto.com and and with a unique twist.

This venture seeks to create a viable solution for banking the huge population of unbanked (who have smartphones) and also help facilitate cross border trade within Africa. As a beachhead market we would look at targeting Kenya due to a high proportion of unbanked citizens, but also high smartphone penetration and a friendly regulatory environment to cryptocurrency.

From a user point of view the solution will look fairly similar to your traditional internet banking app. It will show an account and a balance, give you the ability to send and receive funds by tapping another user's phone wallet and will give you the ability to interact with standard EFTPOS machines in much the same way that a credit card works using NFC technology. One point of differentiation here is that whilst a traditional bank account will show a balance of for example, Kenyan Schillings or USD, the Afrique mobile application will be used to store both existing crypto currencies such as Bitcoin, but also algorithmically backed stable-coins minted in local African currencies or any other world fiat currency, whether its Chinese Yuan or Nigerian Naira – this is our key point of differentiation with legacy mobile banking applications and other blockchain based solutions – in that no conversion needs to be factored in when transacting, you can go direct from Kenyan Schilling to Nigerian Naira all within the app. Your digital Schilling will be converted to a digital Naira allowing for a fast transaction with no cross border red tape and with a negligible price. On the receiver's side they may then opt to convert their Naira Afrique's native governance token 'Afrique Coin', and then exchange the Afrique Coin against a fiat currency trading pair at an online exchange. The Afrique token will be used to facilitate voting power for network governance as well as the on and off ramp at partnered exchanges to convert funds held in the Afrique blockchain. In addition, when utilising the Afrique wallet at an eftpos terminal, the digital stablecoin has the ability to convert 1:1 into local currency and act exactly like a Visa card.

You may ask, how do you onboard someone into this ecosystem with no bank account and no credit card to acquire the Afrique token in the first place. This is another clever point of differentiation for Afrique. We have set up a model that allows any Afrique token holder to exchange physical cash from a new user for digital Afrique tokens. We do this in a decentralised and trust-less way, by having an independent third party, that is a trusted Afrique user, act as a validator and witness the exchange of cash for Afrique tokens, for a small commission. All three parties (the buyer, the seller and the validator) would have to digitally sign the transaction It is envisaged that trusted validators would hang around existing open air markets which could facilitate onboarding of unbanked users into the ecosystem. In this way we could exponentially grow the user base without needed KYC (Know your customer) and without users needed exchange accounts or credit cards to acquire the Afique token.

    What do you think?

In my latest article i talk about the importance of BCH to the humanity, a tool to remove all barriers between the world and where people can be their own bank and send money abroad without need to worry about intermediation of third parts a peer-to-peer electronic cash payment for the people
