| What is stopping ex-Ripple/Government developers from copying Ripple's xRapid? Posted: 18 Jun 2021 12:07 AM PDT Like many other times through history, really good products have been copied and made better. Is xRapid open to be copied by other developers? If another option (ie someone copies xRapid) came up that allowed banks to once again have a full control/monopolise these transfers, what is stopping Ripple's product from becoming obsolete? I am not talking about Flare and smart contracts; there is a huge market for smart contract development. I am talking specifically about fast, inter-bank and international money transfer technology. Full disclosure; I have held XRP since 2017 and continue to hold. As blockchain technology has improved and become more well known, it is only normal that these questions come up. | Posted: 17 Jun 2021 03:35 PM PDT You may have seen this via flare twitter: https://flare.xyz/flare-token-distribution-governance/ It is related to the potential tax problems that arise in some jurisdictions from airdrops (Tax is not just a USA problem). It proposes 2 solutions (read it in full at your leisure) that are the initial 15% is released and then the community decides using governance proposals to release the rest of the coins as planned (there would be a 5 month delay) or leave it at the initial 15%. In short - I think they should just make the call and release 100% upfront. The main reason is that this provides CERTAINTY!!! This whole complex release mechanism is to avoid the sell pressure of the "Free Money" airdrop mentality. If 100% is released upfront the "free money" sell pressure will be over and done with and short lived. I also think the anticipation of the launch will overwhelm the "free money" sell pressure given the demand for the IOUs being traded already. With the slow release it will be ongoing with the added "I gotta pay my taxes" sell pressure as well. TLDR: Make a call and distribute all Flare upfront. Thoughts? [link] [comments]  | ||
| How to sell/swap XRP in Texas? Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:36 AM PDT Hello, I have seen other posts saying Uphold is a place to buy XRP. I am looking to sell or swap some of my XRP with as little steps as possible. (I want to avoid all the "moving" fees). My XRP is currently in Kraken. Is it possible to send XRP to metamask and swap for another coin there? Or is activity blocked on metamask as well? Any advice or suggestions? Thank you. Edit: can you sell XRP on Uphold? Edit 2: Thank you for the comments. I ended up sending XRP from Kraken to Uphold, XRP to ETH swap on Uphold, then sent to my wallet. Total Fees were about- $10 USD. [link] [comments]  | ||
