Current mining earnings are pretty high today! I hope you all are mining at full power. For my setup (12x1660S, 2x1070ti, 1x3090fe), I'm getting almost double from last week's average.

Admittedly I know nothing about airflow but why would adding an external fan make my rig run hotter!? I know it's not great but I'd have expected a couple degree lower not higher? Window to right is open as I thought the fan will push the hot air out. Someone make me feel an idiot and point out why?

I have 3 RTX 3060 XCs. 2 get 48+MH/s and the other one is stuck at 26 MH/s

I have 3 RTX 3060 XCs. 2 get 48+MH/s and the other one is stuck at 26 MH/s

I have 3 RTX 3060 XCs. They are seemingly all identical (though all from different vendors on eBay). The first two have been running at 48-49 MH/s for the last few weeks after implemented the "fix" of the dummy HDMI and using a 16x extension instead of a normal riser and the 470.05 driver. I was super happy that it worked!

My question: I just got the third one in the mail today and I used the same setup as described above for the first two. This one is stuck at 26 MH/s... I tried a few different things and played around with some of the Bios settings (described below), but I am running out of ideas. I thought maybe it was the motherboard but I am not sure how to investigate that further. One suspicious thing I noticed is that I also have a 2070 Super on this rig (using the first 16x_1x PCIE slot) -- in the bios, it does not show up as occupying a slot - only the three 3060s are detected.

    Bios settings I played with:

    - I made sure all PCIE were at Gen3 (changed from auto)

    - Changed PCIE16x slot from 2x to 4x. This is actually the part I am second-most suspicious about - shouldn't it be 16x? The others say they're operating at 8x Native whereas this one now says it's operating at 4x (was 2x) native.

    Bios version: 18.02 x64

Just using NiceHash quick miner. Maybe there is someone who knows a lot more than me who can help me out here. I am about as noob as they come. I appreciate any time and help you might have to offer! Thank you in advance!

unlikely to be helpful but picture or rig in question:

RTX 3070 on Nanominer - High Volume of Rejected Shares with Default Settings

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 09:29 AM PDT

Hi, long time reader, first time poster. 🙋🏾‍♂️

I've noticed a high amount of rejected shares on a gigabyte 3070 (7 months old) that I've been mining with using the following settings:

    -300 Core Clock +1200 Memclock 60% TDP

    Meta/Notes:

    —————————

    Avg sustained Hashrate: 61MH/sec

    Miner: Nanominer, latest stable version.

Temp: 52-54C, open air miner, with room cooling, dehumidifier and fans.

    PC: Windows 10, Asus Z490-P, i5 CPU, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR 3200MHZ

PSU: x2 EVGA 850W GOLD (in parallel)

Driver: 461.4 Nvidia (January 2021 release)

    Observations/Troubleshooting: —————————————————

I noticed the amount of rejected shares for this GPU would hit a peak of 14 rejects in a 24 hour period. I decided to reset the GPU OC/UV settings to defaults and observe behavior in the default state and rejects spiked to 298 in a 24 hour period. Switched out the riser and usb cable (UBIT 16X to 1X) to see if this was the issue, no change in high reject rate.

Does this mean the card is having issues overall and is approaching a slow death, or is there something else afoot? Curious to hear experiences from the community with various miners and similar configurations.

    Thanks!!

Is LHR in the wild yet? Is it even distinguishable?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 08:55 AM PDT

So, as ETH price continues to fall, GPUs in my area are being sold on Facebook for near retail on AIB cards. 3070s are getting priced at 850 and 900 dollars. Of course they are getting sold nearly instantly but it is happening.

My question: NVIDIA had said that their retail partners were supposed to label their new cards as LHR if they were such cards. However, none of the cards I have seen in circulation have any such designation on the box. I have heard rumors that wholesalers are unable to get anything except LHR cards from the factories so they have to be out there somewhere already. I'd like to try and get a couple of these GPUs that people are posting for decent prices in my locale but don't wanna take the card home and open it only to realize its LHR. I understand this will only apply to eth for now, but I am worried that in the future after the merge that LHR cards will get a driver update or some shit that limits them on ALL algos so Nvidia can try and sell their shit tier CMP cards.

Posting this up to see if anyone can give some concise information about what the status is on these things. I know that ASUS released a list of all their new skus that would be LHR'd but it seems they are the only AIB that has done such.

Also; FWIW, I was able to get a 3070 during the last Best Buy drop, picked it up last week and it was not LHR.

What do you plan to mine when Eth 2.0 hits?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 08:24 AM PDT

With companies like Linzhi and Bitmain bringing miners that soon won't be able to even mine ethereum into play, what do you guys plan to do with your GPU rigs once Eth moves to PoS?

HiveOS ib test failed on gfx (-110) due to OS or card?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 07:44 PM PDT

Hey all, hoping I can get some assistance if someone else has ran into this same challenge.

Just installed a Gigabyte RX 570 4GB card into my rig that I received used. I confirmed with the seller it was on stock BIOS, but just to be sure I confirmed memory type and flashed it to stock.

Basically when the amdgpu driver initializes I get the error in the title, ib test failed on gfx (-110) on the bus ID for this card. If I start Hive in maintenance mode with no driver loading I can get into the shell just fine, but if I start it with drivers it always errors out when the amdgpu driver loadds.

I've swapped risers (brand new ones from gpurisers), and also swapped with a working card, and the problem follows this card specifically. Logic tells me it's the card, however I've seen other linux forum posts from recently stating that there's a bug in the linux amd driver causing this same challenge for a few people.

Has anyone ran into this previously and been able to resolve it or have any suggestions?

    Website showing pool block efficiency

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 11:27 PM PDT

    Good morning!

Last week someone had posted a website which showed how efficient a pool was with the utilization of their block, how much MEV on average each block had and the average reward of the blocks of the said pools.

I am looking to find that website back however I have no luck finding it. Anyone could post a link please?

    what miner should I use?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 01:36 PM PDT

so right now ive been cpu mining dogecoin bc why not lol, i don't pay for electricity so bonus. i've been using unmineable, but i just got a custom built pc that cranks out 80 mh/s so i started mining other stuff, but still using unmineable.

    what should i use? nicehash?

also my calculated hash rate is like 10mh/s less than current, is this ok? im using the program on high performance, is this why?

Finally Bought a Kill A Watt - Still Profitable! (I think?)

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 01:34 PM PDT

I've been running my Dell Inspiron 5680 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 24x7. During boom times I didn't worry about being profitable (it was obvious) but with payouts so much lower I needed to know for sure. And also know my "cut off amount" where simply buying crypto would make more sense.

Plugged that bad Larry* in and found it's using *drum roll* 160 watts! under full mining load.

I pay $0.12 kWh, which comes out to about $14/month.

As of right now estimated gross earnings (before deducting cost of electricity) are about $47-$50/month so I'm good ... at least a few more weeks before payouts drop again (maybe/probably)

Before I go celebrate on the town with my massive $30 in earnings ($10 after I deduct what I paid for the Kill A Watt) does anyone see any flaws in my math or logic?

After moving, rig can't see my GPU on riser.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 11:38 AM PDT

After moving, rig can't see my GPU on riser.

Hi, I'm a recent university graduate, and I was until recently enjoying my humble little two card rig mining with free electricity. Since moving back home I've moved it into the shed, but I've been unable to get my rig to recognise the second card as being connected.

My rig is two 1080s, one is plugged into the motherboard directly, another is connected via a riser. The cards are powered by a two output 6+2 pcie cable (side note, is this safe?), while the riser is powered by the 6 from another 6+2 pcie cable. These are all powered by a 650w corsair modular power supply.

While connected, both cards light up and have fan spin, yet HiveOS and Windows can only detect one card. In the past where I've had issues, one card has shown up as having problems in Windows Device Manager, but never have I had one card simply be invisible to the system.

I've poked around in the BIOS but I can't find any useful settings, the only setting that seemed to be of any relevance was toggling a plug and play mode for PCIe, but I'm not really sure what that actually means.

I've tried swapping the cards, and both cards work fine in the motherboard slot. I've also tried replacing the riser and that didn't make a difference, but yet if I put a wifi card in the riser slot, that wifi card works fine.

So I'm at a loss for what to do now. A setup that worked fine while I was in my university residence has bizarrely stopped working at home, the riser works fine for a wifi card but not a gpu, but both GPUs work fine while connected to the motherboard.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do now, or am I just stuffed?

    Edit: Images attached.
