Hello friends, I started my mining journey on may 9 when I picked up 11 gtx 1060 6gb cards from an estate sale; this is my setup 28 cards later with total hashrate of 960 MH/s itching to get one more card to to enter the 1 GH/s territory. Extremely thankful for this sub for the helpful information.

It's funny that people think miners will sell the gpus when Ethereum 2.0 happens. (I have been running these cards since '13 with Doge coin mining. They still are 80 cents a day in the green. (4x r9290) I have other cards but this is my legacy stuff.

    Predictions on GPU mining

So, what you think will happen to mining?? Will be there another way to make money/tokens??

I know that 6 pins sata on psu can draw 75w, but can i split that 6 pins to 2 molex for 2 risers? Is it safe? As i know single risers can draw up to 75w. I'm confused.

RTX 3070 Ti Hashrate - Mining Performance

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 06:59 PM PDT

    Hey Everyone,

Our friend Red Panda Mining allowed us the opportunity to test out the Zotac RTX 3070 Ti! So below are some of the data I got and a link to the live stream, but a huge thank you needs to be giving to you all! For upvoting my post like this, where I share data on New GPU's hashrate, and share my findings. Of course, you can get even more hashrate with tuning, but the numbers I use are a baseline and the same numbers I use to test the other GPUs for better performance comparison. Please feel free to share your numbers, data, or findings down below. O and don't forget to check out the live stream.. sorry for it being so long though. Take care

repadding of MSI 3080 Gaming Trio X looking for video

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:39 AM PDT

    Good day

After have successfully re padded my 3090 and I found out that MSI finally released an non bugged bios for the Gaming Trio X (which is official and not an suprime bios). I have finally a reason to repad my 3080. With the new bios she is running at a higher hashrate but also at a higher Vram temp. However I have a hard time finding a good guide with all the dimensions for it. Anyone got some good videos about this card?

    thanks

    2 x 3080 Ti - Ergo Mining

Purely hypothetical: How much electricity can I draw at home before I get... a visit?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 08:37 AM PDT

I just had a shower thought - realistically this isn't even a possibility, but I thought, how many GPUs would I have to buy to live off? Assuming returns never diminish, of course, I found the answer to be about thirty 3080's.

So I'm just curious - let's say I somehow drop 100k and converted a spare bedroom to an air conditioned room with 30+ computers, that would make my power bill spike from $300/mo to $1k+ a month. I'm sure that throws a red flag to someone, somewhere.

Now, I live an honest life, but I also live in Florida and nothing terrifies me more than to think, next thing you know there's 20 police raiding my house while I'm asleep, throwing tear gas and killing my pets. I know it's unlikely, but I literally have no idea how this stuff works and I don't want to deal with that kind of trauma. I pay all my crypto taxes and have a clean record, but I also have medical marijuana (and a state license for it) and a bunch of pirated movies/shows that nobody really cares about, but somebody might if they can't find anything better - I'm sure they're expecting a major drug bust, especially with a glowing red roof using infrared.

Anyway, this is just daydreaming, I realistically can't afford that. Was just curious if anybody was ever in that situation?

    Newbie Rig

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 11:18 AM PDT

I have a question as I'm trying to support the crypto coin community. With the cost of cards rising by scalpers I was able to purchase to GPUs on EBay at a decent price and have one Radeon HD 7990 and 8990. Not sure what to use for mining software? Was told for AMD use red team miner? Also, getting 20Mh on each card using unmineable for Tron coin. Test out to see if I want to heavily invest in hardware or just purchase crypto from online due to sky ticket prices of GPUs. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Landed a 3090 from a shuffle, should I use it or sell it?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:08 AM PDT

After not selecting the 3090s for a while, I just started clicking all of the options on a shuffle and got lucky with a 3090 package. Now looking into it, the 3090 doesn't really seem to be an optimal card for mining so I am debating on if I should just suck it up and use it or try to flip it. Seems like the Egg prices are inflated, so flip profit is limited. If I do mine with it, do I have to do stuff for heat or can it roll out of the box?

"nvtool error (12)" for Zotac 2060 on hive

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 06:53 AM PDT

Hey there, not sure if this is the right spot but....

I bought a bunch of new Zotac 2060's at MSRP and all but one seems to be working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling different drivers..... using different risers, power supplies, and motherboards. Still, I seem to consistently get the same error:

" nvtool error (12)" with "TU106 [GeForce RTX 2060 Rev. A]" in the spot that usually just says "Geforce RTX 2060". Its also noteworthy that the LA goes through the roof as well with this card installed.

Again, Its a brand new card so that alone leads me to believe this thing is just busted. I've done about as much trouble shooting as I care to do for one card. Just seeing if anyone else has had similar issues before I figure something else to do with the it.

??? MSI Afterburner reset to stock settings ???

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 06:45 AM PDT

Morning all. Just a quick question. This morning I woke up to my 3060 Ti pretty darn warm. Wierd i thought, looked at Gminer, 192 watts vice the normal 125-ish. Looked at MSI A/B and the 3060 Ti settings were at stock ? The other card 2060 Super settings were as previously set / no prob.

Anyone else seen this before ? Thoughts / tips on how to prevent in future ? Thanks and Mine on my friends !

Riser alone uses 60W while the entire GPU uses 70W?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2021 06:33 AM PDT

Riser alone uses 60W while the entire GPU uses 70W?

I have a 1200W server PSU + small ATX PSU setup. First I connect all GPU to the server PSU, the load seems too heavy, then I move one GPU to the ATX PSU, but leave its riser on the server PSU.

I have a watt meter on the server PSU. It reads 860 to 865W.

The system was quite unstable, I figured out it could be that the GPU and its riser are powered by different PSU, so I moved the riser to the ATX PSU too.

After that, the watt meter on the server PSU reads 800 to 805W.

What the hell? Removing one riser reduced 60W? The GPU was already powered by the other PSU, so this 60W is riser alone. The GPU is a 1660 Ti, the entire GPU only uses 70W, how could its riser uses 60W?

I always feel strange that software reports all GPU combined uses 660W, but the watt meter reads 960W (including the ATX PSU). Considering fans, CPU, etc. and 90% efficiency, there is still 200W comes from nowhere.

Is it possible that the risers cause the extra 200W power consumption?

    The riser is this one

clipped from red panda mining youtube channel

I connect it directly to the server PSU 6pin 12V. I heard that is the best way to connect it.

    GPUs Buggy w/ 5th GPU

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 09:41 PM PDT

    Hi Guys,

    Hoping for some help troubleshooting.

    Rig Details:

    4x 5600 XT

    1x 580

    Z390-A Pro

    120g SSD

    16gb RAM

EDIT: 1200W PSU (probably an important component...)

I am somewhat limited on cables.

I can get it to work with no device issues with 3 5600 XT and one 580 (mixing on purpose to make sure my bug isn't related to the GPU mix) using the following cables:

GPU 1 - One PCI/E with a 6+2, split into two more 6+2s, with one going into the GPU as 8 pin and the other into the riser as a 6 pin.

GPU 2 & 3 - One PCIE/E with TWO 6+2, split twice and attached to two GPUs the same way as above.

GPU 4 - One PCI/E, which is split off a second 6+2 on the same cable I'm using for PCI/E motherboard power. This one also split the same way into a fourth GPU, with one 8-pin into the top of the GPU and the 6pin into the riser.

No issues whatsoever, cables aren't even warm. Runs without bugs, every time I boot it recognizes all 4 GPUs.

In order to hook up 5, I'm trying the following:

GPUs 1-3, same setup as above.

GPU 4-5, using the PCI/E off the spare motherboard PCI/E cable to power the GPUs with 8-pins. SATA power for the risers (I'm out of PCI/E to hook up 5 with all PCI/E).

    With this setup:

1.) All fans power at boot

2.) All risers are lit up

    3.) No cables overheating

The bug issues I'm running into -

Windows will recognize 3-4 of the GPUs on startup, never all 5.

On one boot, it recognized 4 5600XTs with one having a windows (43) error code.

The next boot, it recognizes all four 5600 XT with no windows errors in device manager.

The next boot, it recognized 3 of the 5600XTs and the 580.

I have followed BIOS settings instructions here: https://computer2know.de/motherboard-z390-a-pro-ms-7b98-msi-trouble-with-more-than-4-gpu:::492.html

I have my virtual memory at 40k/40k.

Any thoughts on what might being going on? If I leave the SATAs out of the equation, I can power any mix of the 4 with no issue.

3060 dummy plugs messing up windows screen

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 07:37 PM PDT

I had 4 x3060's running on windows at full hash rate, I just had to re-install a clean windows on ssd and restart. Everything is working and hash is rising when I insert dummy plugs but windows turns blank and only task bar is showing.

I have to actual monitor HDMI plugged into the first 3060, and the 3 dummy plugs into the remaining 3 gpus.

    What am I doing wrong?

When I unplug dummy plugs then screen turns normal.
