Finally completed my ventilation system, that is going to carry my rtx 3080 and 3070 rigs through this hot summer times… love Evga RTX 3070 which are extremely stable at 62MH regardless the temperature. What algos are limited with nerfed 3060 or LHR?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 08:12 AM PDT

I'd like to know if the nerfed version of the 3060 limited different algos than the LHR version (possibly, since Nvidia had more time to add more algos to limit for the LHR version).

I haven't been able to find a list of algos that either the nerfed or LHR cards are limited on. Having only mined ETH, I don't know what's limited vs non-limited hash rate for other algos to do comparisons.

Does anyone know if someone compiled a comprehensive list?

    Thanks.

Question : 3070 memory temp throttle?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 07:55 AM PDT

Question : 3070 memory temp throttle?

I own 2 RTX 3070 for mining ETH. An Asus which run fine at 62mh, 59C memory temp and an EVGA which run at 40-50mh. Ive notice that when i start my rig, it goes from 62mh to 50-50mh. I've also noticed that the temperature fluctuate from 60 to 65C. I think the card is throttling.

Top is EVGA, bottom is Asus. I'm running Windows, but before switching on another os, like Mineos, is there something I can do? I think it run fine on mineos.

    Current EVGA setting :

    • Core - 500Mem +1250
    • Power 55%
    • Fan 90% (Tried 100% without luck)
    • T-rex miner 0.20.4

Should I put my fan on max strength?

My first time mining :) I want to learn by doing. So I will keep investing month over month. By 2022 I want a dedicated mining rig with a few GPUs!

Finally got a NewEgg win! Asus TUF 3060 + Asus TUF 550W Bronze PSU

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 09:37 PM PDT

After 50 or so days of entering, I finally won one! Got the titled bundle.

Does anyone know if this is the LHR or nerfed version? It doesn't say v2 in the name or model number. Asus does have a v2 in their model number for their LHR version, so I hope I get the non LHR version and it isn't just NewEgg forgetting to change the model number on their listing.

Is it me or is this 3060 has an overbuilt cooler? I've seen smaller 2-fan coolers for this chip, so to see a full sized card with 3 fans for a 3060 seems overkill. Good for extreme OC?

Also, any idea how good or bad the PSU is? It's bronze, so I expect it won't be great, but the high price seem to beg to differ.

It was getting hot inside so I bought a tent for my farm. It's loud as fuck, makes almost no difference in GPU temps but got a solid ~2-3c decrease in ambient temp. When it's cold outside the GPU temps seems to drop a little but it's more of quality of life thing. This is so stupid. 700 m3/h.

3060 mining limit unlock for casual miners (Windows)

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:03 PM PDT

Hi, today I bought an RTX 3060.

My problem is the following: whenever I am not using my PC for gaming, it is mining ETH. The thing with the Nvidia 3000 series is that the only driver which unlocks the hashrate limit is the Beta 470.05, which I have already tested and works like a charm. Problem with this driver is, games don't work that well, constantly crashing, lagging, etc.

I've thought of making a second Windows installation, but this is not ideal for lots of reasons. Is there any other way to unlock the hashrate limit on Windows other than this Beta driver? Does anybody think of any other solution?

    Thanks in advance

GPU mining rig + humid weather / frequent rainfall

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 02:36 AM PDT

Hey folks, from where I am located Its rainy season now. So due to frequent rainfall humidity increases rapidly in the air . I am concerned about the RUST my GPUs might get in this weather. Should I do anything to avoid rust or am I overthinking it and should do nothing.

5700 xt unable to mine after thermal pads replacement

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:44 PM PDT

I opened up both of my 5700 XT's and gave them new thermal pads and paste. Before this one ran at 64 while mining and the other one ran at 68 while. mining

Now when I start the mining software both cards jump up to a very specific temperature. One car jumps up to 75 exactly, And the other jumps up to 90. I've opened up the 90 card three times and I know it's not the paste or the pads. All the pads are making contact with their components, And I used a thermal paste applicator just to make sure.

Right after I replace the thermal pads I decided to try to undervolt it. I think that might have something to do with it, but I've since reset everything back to default, I think.

When I try to mine, The one card that sits at 75 is able to mine, but the one that jumps to 90 gets canceled because it's temperature is higher than 85.

    MSI Afterburner resets prior settings?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 03:28 PM PDT

Just wondering if anone eles has run into this issue. Ive tries googles but its an awkward this to search for.

This issue is; I set my absolute coreclock on MSI Afterburner to 1100 on card A(RTX 2060). When I then set card B(RTX 2060) to 1100 card A keeps all other setting bar the power setting. Anyone run into this issue before ? I think I missing something small.

    My system is a mix of AMD(4x 580) and Nividia(3x 2060) cards.
