How are merkle proofs made in modified merkle patricia tries? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 02:40 PM PDT I always see diagrams of MMPTs, and they always just show it deriving the root from the first extension node. How does the first extension node have enough data to prove the validity of some item in the MMPT? AFAIK all the root node contains is just some shared nibble. [link] [comments]
A simple contract for keeping track of collaterals? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 11:36 AM PDT For a separate project that I am working on, I needed a contract that keeps track of how much ERC20/ETH is set aside by an address for another address. I wrote the following contract (github link attached), that allows a user to deposit a certain amount of ERC20/ETH into a 'collateral' position, which they can trade around to other users as if it were an NFT. They can also specify the conditions that need to be met before the position can be liquidated back into ERC20/ETH This seemed like something general enough so I was wondering if I might be re-inventing the wheel. Is there an EIP standard for similar purposes? https://github.com/jinhongkuan/collaterize/blob/main/contracts/Collaterize.sol [link] [comments]

Is it possible to buy Ether without using an exchange? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 08:30 PM PDT I know very little about crypto. I'm seeing a lot of ads for crypto exchanges; Coinbase, Coinsmart and others. Does the use of exchanges for those who aren't sophisticated in this area mean that crypto is moving away from decentralization? [link] [comments]
How to set up metamask for arbitrum? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 04:56 PM PDT Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of setting up and using arbitrum with metamask? [link] [comments]

Posted: 20 Jun 2021 06:47 AM PDT Hi, I've been out of Ethereum for a while. The last wallet I used was Parity, which seems to no longer really exist, in any similar form. It's not clear to me what to migrate to. There's MetaMask, there's Exodus. I don't want to run my wallet as a Chrome extension, because that's just utterly ridiculous, so I'm looking at Exodus. (Focused on desktop here) I just want a wallet to manage my holdings, but Exodus is so focused on "Apps", that I don't really care about (yet). I have my private key from Parity, but it doesn't seem possible to just use or import this private key into Exodus or another wallet. They all seem to have their own recovery phrases and the only way to use my funds is to transfer them? Why? What wallet should I use if I just want to use my private key(s) again to manage my coins? I just want a simple interface to moving coins around using private keys. Exodus (and other wallets) are just so opaque somehow, versus the simple wallets of the past. Something seems to have changed since Parity was around and it's left me a bit confused, to be honest. [link] [comments]

Posted: 20 Jun 2021 12:49 PM PDT Coin stuck in wallet??? Help me please… So I was sent some coins which are in my MetaMask wallet - I want to withdraw them but it won't let me. I added some eth to my MetaMask to cover the gas fee but when I look on uniswap it says insufficient liquidity - I've tried on swap too and it says quotes not available… What do I do? Or are my coins stuck there forever? … any suggestions 100% welcome… [link] [comments]
Beware of giveaway scam on YouTube Posted: 20 Jun 2021 02:23 PM PDT I see multiple channels simultaneously running live streams, where they ask you to visit a scam website (ether-live.net) and promise a giveaway IF send them an amount first. They display a fake tweet of Buterin announcing a giveaway. I think these YouTube channels were created solely for this, but someone needs to confirm or correct me. Here are a few links for you to verify yourself. Beware and Don't believe, verify. [link] [comments]
