Most people wished to buy BTC for 30K when it was 64k. But now that we can we are too sacred.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 07:47 PM PDT

Remember when the bull was strong and unstoppable, most people around me wanted to buy BTC. Most of them said and hoped that if BTC was still 30K I would have bought a shit ton of it.

Those mates of mine now still do not buy and are hoping for it to dip to 10k or less. I told them that it is very unlikely. Not impossible but very unlikely. They still held strong and didn't want to buy till it dips more and I believe they won't if it does.

There is a saying and it goes something like this:

"If you cannot love (buy) me (crypto) on a discount, you don't deserve me when I bull"

Historic amount of Stablecoins have been moved onto centralised exchanges in the last 24 hours. Both Tether and USDC

In the last 24 hours, a massive amount of USDT and USDC have been moved from wallets onto centralised exchanges.

Record amount of USDT moved onto exchanges

Currently over $2bn USDT have been deposit on exchanges in the last 24 hours. Almost all of this was sent and deposited on Binance.

    Record for USDC as well.

The funds could be used for spot buying BTC or altcoins, or for longing or shorting via derivatives as well. So its anyone's guess what it is used for, but nevertheless interesting to see this kind of money moving again after few months crab market.

Unpopular Opinion: If you're fiat broke and invested in crypto, 99% chance you are overleveraged

    Posted: 27 Jun 2021 12:03 AM PDT

Here's the thing: the world operates on fiat right now. You cannot put food on the table using crypto as currency (yet, in 99% of places). I'm willing to bet most people on here saying they are invested and "fiat broke" aren't actually in that situation and just use that terminology to say they can't invest any more, and that's fine. But for the 1 person reading this who IS (somewhat deeply) invested in crypto and is literally fiat broke, you are overleveraged.

We love to make our jokes and memes, but if you literally cannot put food on the table because of crypto, then you are not feeding an investment, you're feeding an addiction. Now, to make sure this message isn't misconstrued, this isn't to say "poor people shouldn't invest in crypto." This is to say "put food on your and your family's plates, THEN invest in crypto".

Be smart. Because you can't eat a Bitcoin. At least I hope not.

How Many Different Cryptos Do You Guys Own? I currently own 13 but have about 30 on my watchlist.

Was kinda curious to see how you guys have your portfolio structured. I'm pretty old school and like to stick to mainly blue chips.

Though I own 13, over 90% of my portfolio is in BTC and ETH. I'm not saying this is optimal, just how comfortable I am after doing my own DD. I'm mainly in smart contract tokens and am adding new positions slowly.

    This is where I'm at.

    My Portfolio Allocation

Here are the coins not pictured:

    My \"others\"

So much other stuff I want to add but I'm slowly DCA'ing in.

    How about you guys?

It’s amazing how all the fanboys disappear when times get tough…

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 02:32 PM PDT

We've been here before. This stuff WILL CRASH. Then it will rise. Then it will die… only to be reborn. We will see this cycle repeat until we find a stable price… which may take YEARS.

You can try to time the market but you'll likely lose 9/10 times. If it works out for you, fantastic. But have your wits about you and don't get cocky if you're just going to disappear or hate as soon as the going gets tough.

There is little rationality in this market because it's young, subject to regulatory imbalance, and media based hype/scrutiny. If you've become crypto rich, that's amazing. Don't confuse luck and market conditions with being a genius though. Often it's understanding what we don't know that drives real value.

Stay cautious. Don't be cocky. Be cool.

To the newbies who don't understand all the abbreviations

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 04:50 PM PDT

FOMO - fear of missing out: when a coin goes up and you are afraid you will miss the bull run so you buy at a high price

DCA - dollar cost averaging: investing a certain amount of money in certain coins every month, for example every month $200 ETH, $100 BTC, $50 ADA

HODL - started as a typo of a famous guy on a bitcoinplatform, over te it took following meaning: hold on for dear life: mainly you don't sell even when it goes down

TLDR - too long didn't read: exactly what it says

WP - white paper: paper where the company behind the cryptocoins explains their intentions mainly

POW - proof of work: mining goes trough expensive gpu-mining. Meaning you use a shitload of graphic cards to mine

POS- proof of stake: PoS is a mechanism that decides who gets to process a set of transactions. The likelihood that a miner gets chosen to process transactions (and reap the reward for it) is determined by the amount of coins they hold. I.e. in a PoS system, miners who have many coins have a greater mining power than those with few coins.

FUD - fear, uncertainty, doubt: HODL your coins despite the FUD of the paperhands during crashes

BTFD - Buy the Fucking Dip: you buy whenever there is a sale!

DeFi - Decentralized finance: a blockchain-based form of finance that does not rely on central financial intermediaries such as brokerages, exchanges, or banks to offer traditional financial instruments, and instead utilizes smart contracts on blockchains (source: Wikipedia. Didn't know how to explain in less than 1000 words)

SAFU - Secure asset fund for users: it's an emergency reserve to protect any invested asset. This is mostly used in case of a hack that resulted into users losing their assets... Watch, this is only till a certain amount and not every platform has this.

DYOR - Do your own research: this is very important. There's nothing wrong with asking advice to friends but their advice is based on their opinion and therefore subjective. It might not be in line with your strategy so ALWAYS DYOR, no matter what they say

KYC - Know your client: obligated by law in many countries. When you make an account on a cryptoplatform you have to pass a process where you have to fill in certain data of yourself and scan your ID. This is the KYC.

    TA - technical analysis

ATH - All time high: the highest position the coin has ever been

    AMA - ask me anything

    DEX - Decentralized exchange

DD - due diligence: Make your decisions based on facts, if you'll just buy any asset because you have this feeling it will go up, FOMO will kick in the moment it goes down. If you bought based on facts (Always DYOR) that won't be the case

ICO - initial coin offering: ICO trading platforms, investors receive unique cryptocurrency "tokens" in exchange for their monetary investment in the business.

NFT - non-fungible token: a generally one of a kind digital asset that represents an object from the real world like videos, music, art, and so on. They are bought and sold with crypto on the blockchain.

SYSC-Stop Yoloing Shit Coin ( this one is off the record but just too epic to forget)

FIAT: Currencies which have been declared to be legal tender, backed by governments. ( Not an abbreviation but handy to know because you'll see it a lot)

Paperhands: not an abbreviation but necessary to understand: someone who panic sells when there's a dip because of FUD.

Diamond hands: the opposite of paperhands, people who can HODL, no matter what. completely FUD-proof

Bull market: market that is on the rise and where the conditions of the economy are generally favorable.

Bear market: exists in an economy that is receding and where most stocks are declining in value. ... In such times, investors often have faith that the uptrend will continue over the long term.

If I forgot any, please put them in the comments, i will add them. I know there are many more but please the ones you see passing by on this subreddit

EDIT: Thanks to all the people who helped me completing this list!!!

I treat my Cryptos like I treat my wife.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 08:59 PM PDT

    I hold onto that shit.

It's always there for me when I need it. I just open my wallet and bam! Always there. No shady business either. I don't see anyone sneaking in trying to get a piece of that.

The exact amount is there. My cryptos are loyal as FK. So I treat them like I treat my wife.

    • I check up to see how they are doing.
    • If they need some more money, I give out a little
    • I don't cheat, and sell off for other cryptos

    I love my cryptos.

If they moon past my wife's net worth then they can be my wife too. I don't see why not.

Its been 5 years, ETH just broke 50k and BTC is worth than Berkshire stock. Would you retire, reinvest, cash out on crazy shit, mint doge2, what actually comes next for you if your dream comes true?

I would retire all my close friends because why not, and then donate to charity...after buying a king sized bed. That sounds nice. Yeah, my dreams are a bit small but its what I wish :D Honestly the rich lifestyle isn't something I strive for, me and my rolling disaster of a car have gone through thick and thin you know?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2021 01:20 AM PDT

I see a lot of new people diving in crypto blinded by profits with money they shouldn't be spending. This trend had stopped during this crash but now it seems to be picking back up because everbody's so confident saying the market can't go any lower.

How can people buy crypto with rent money or gas money and totally be fine?

I am gonna put this under comedy flair but i wanna know your views on this trend.

Please ask if your skeptical about a coin or exchange!

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 09:48 PM PDT

When I was a kid I lost a Blue Halloween Mask in RuneScape falling for a scam. They promised they would give my mask back along with Bandos armor. At that time it was worth about 100 mil. I was devastated because that was all my RS money invested into that item. In reality, I learned a lifelong lesson to never fall for that shit again. You see a lot of scams in crypto. It makes me sick that there are people who will take someone's hard earned money like that and I wish the worst on them. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask this sub if you're skeptical about it. Chances are someone will know something about the topic. We may act goofy sometimes but there are some really intelligent people on here…I mean we are all early on one of the greatest investments of all time 😏. We all have each other's backs. Stop trying to get rich quick with 100x returns and focus on the long run and be a part of changing the future.

Update: Got a random message from a redditor after this post asking my name and where I'm from after I already ignored that same question with a simple greeting. 🥴

No more binance in Ontario Canada.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 07:56 PM PDT

Binance has announced that Ontario, Canada has become a restricted jurisdiction. And asks users to close the position by year end.

Considering 40% of Canadian population stay in Ontario this is gonna be really bad for binance and crypto all together.

I am in ottawa and this makes me hate Ontario. Along with all gyms, saloons closed and now this.

    Is the whole canada next?

Why are we allowing governments an opinion in crypto?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 03:31 PM PDT

You read about it everyday. This region banned this exchange. This region made this illegal. And so on.

Where the fuck is the cypherpunk leadership to stop this? Here's wht I am waiting for:

    1. A DAO starts registering citizenship on a random piece of space debris. Anyone holding crypto gets a passport.

    2. All CEXs are granted business licenses there with fiat onramps.

What, is it illegal now to trade with aliens? Eat a gray whigged dick

I will never recommend any family member or friends to crypto ...EVER.

    Posted: 27 Jun 2021 03:42 AM PDT

    • I clearly highlighted to them the risks and rewards of investing and the best investment is to invest in the tech of the coin by doing the right research first, that doesn't matter though since all they are seeing is the price NOW and all coins are down now.
    • I explicitly told them to avoid some scam coins (and they did so that's good) but again it doesn't matter now since everything is down, the scam coins with the good coins.
    • No I don't expect people to thank me for introducing them to crypto, I only mentioned this part to highlight how they only remembered me when the market dipped.
    • I learned the lesson the hard way, so fuck me sideways if I ever try to talk about crypto to anyone else IRL again
    • Yes, I believe the whole market will bounce back soon, do your own research on why crypto was created in the first place.
    • I won't recommend any coins here in this post because the point of this post is not shilling, please do your own research and decide
    • Remember, you only lose / profit when sell, all the numbers you see in your portfolio apps are just that, numbers.

    Original Post:

In April I started talking about crypto with my family and friends and gave them a little "push" to start investing small amounts to experiment... I wanted them to make some money because I know they could really use it and I explained how volatile the market rn and the rewards and risk they would have to take and strongly advised them to never ever invest what they can't afford to lose

Some of them got really invested and saw some big gains and started to show off their percentage gains on social media (which is stupid but whatever).

Noone really thanked me for introducing them to crypto when they made some big gains, they all acted like they got into it because they were smart (before I introduced them to crypto they thought bitcoin was a physical golden coin and can't be bought in fraction), but again whatever I didn't do it for people to thank me I just wanted them to make some money because I know they needed some.

Fast forward to today morning and FUCK.MY.LIFE I opened my phone and I find a barrage of messages from them accusing me of scamming them and tricking them into crypto because they lost money, I tried to explain to them that this is normal and it will bounce back soon and it's just a correction and don't sell but they aren't listening most of them sold and "cut their loses" before the "bubble burst".

I am never going to talk about crypto with anyone in real life again, fuck em I am not getting involved in this shitty situation ever again
