    What would it take for Ethereum to not be influenced by Bitcoin?

    Bitcoin drops in value, and the entire crypto market goes with it.

    So im curious.

    What would it take for Ethereum to not be influenced by Bitcoin? The market cap flipping? For a country to implement Ethereum as its currency? To be able to buy my ☕ with ETH? What service would have to be built on the ETH blockchain to change everything?

    I'm curious in your opinions, and vision for the future.

    Ok I'm not talking about people who are in for rich get quick thing but instead 10 years down the road. Let's say if someone invest 5k by 2023. Would he be able to make 100k by 2033?

    What would the implications be for ethereum-based cryptos (like Polygon, just for one example) if Ethereum 2.0 rolls out successfully?

    I'm new to understanding crypto in general but what would be the technical and financial implications for ethereum-based coins if Ethereum 2.0 rolls out completely and successfully? (I'm talking in like 2023 and beyond if ETH scales 1000x like the devs hope.) It seems as if systems like Polygon are sort-of doing with L2 chains what ETH 2.0 hopes to accomplish.

    Would a successful rollout of ETH 2.0 bolster sidechain technology like Polygon or would it render such scaling solutions redundant and obsolete?

    Sorry if this is a dumb question but this is something like I feel is basic and I should know.

    Staking Ethereum

    Is there a way to stake ethereum from a hardware wallet or similar safe method? Or if I have a a small amount is this best done through the exchanges (Coinbase, etc.)? What are the risks involved?

    How do I get into ETH development?

    I am a first year University student and I really want into block chain and ETH development but I cannot find any helpful information on the internet most of the resources I find are focused on making dapps instead of contributing to the core. What would be the technical background I need? For information I am a pure math major and I do programming as a hobby. I know the basics of C/C++, Haskell and taken a course in data structures and algorithms.

    How do I find more resources on how ETH actually works rather than just blogs and articles with analogies.

    Yesterday I bought the etf ETHH.B, crypto noob here...

    I am a complete crypto noobie but after doing research and watching Etherium I decided to purchase. I bought a nice amount of the ETF ETHH.B in my TSFA (Canadian). My plan is to hold for a very long time - I feel this way to invest into Etherium was right for me for the first time buying anything related and or crypto. Super Excited to be an owner of the ETF. Am I doing this all wrong?

    Ethereum Node Setup

    I'm currently running a Bitcoin node which was setup using Umbrel software. It was quick and made the process seamless for someone who isn't technical.

    I'm looking to do the same for Ethereum. Does anyone know of open source software that make setting-up and running a personal node easy? I realize I'll have to stake Eth.

    Not responding to PMs so scammers don't bother.

    ETH Difficulty cliffs

    Looking the the ETH difficulty chart you can see that there are a few cliffs where it's straight down, not a stair step, but elevator to hell. Do these correspond to crashes in ETH? Is it a good or bad sign that we don't see something like that now? Would it take something like waking up to ETH at $100.00 USD to see that?

    A currency symbol for Ethereum

    Justin Drake recently posted on Twitter about the need for a Unicode character for the ETH currency: https://twitter.com/drakefjustin/status/1397930556763955200

    I posted a suggestion in that thread for a currency symbol which seemed to garner some appreciation. Since posting that suggestion, I have been thinking a little bit more about if we could instead start from the Greek uppercase Xi character which is becoming well-established. By adding two thinner vertical lines, it can:

    1. function as a unique Unicode character for the Ethereum currency,
    2. be easier to identify as a currency symbol (a problematic aspect of the Xi symbol),
    3. retain the already established style.

    What do you think?

    I'm new to crypto and currently trying to understand all the currencies. I'm specifically interested in eth but heard that eth 2.0 is coming. Is out now? If yes then what happens to 1.0? Sorry if this question sounds dumb but I'm just having a hard time understanding. Thank you
