Is bitcoin cash being adopted as a medium of exchange faster than bitcoin itself?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 05:57 PM PDT

I see articles and posts highlighting that bitcoin cash is quickly being excepted by more and more stores as a form of payment across the world.

But bitcoin itself? Not so much?

Is it a lack of interest or is bitcoin being a medium of exchange considered impractical now? I sure hope not, as I plan on holding my btc until I can freely spend it without having to convert it to fiat.

If Bitcoin Cash reaches a price of $5,000 what will the transaction fees realistically be and what will realistically be the minimum transaction amount? What about if BCH reaches a price of $10,000?

If BCH reaches a price of $10,000 will Bitcoin Cash still be able to be cash for those earning less than $5 per day?

Update on pruned node experiment: Linode $5/month instance works fine

    Posted: 04 May 2021 07:08 PM PDT

I tried running a BCH pruned node on the smallest $5/month Linode instance. It works just fine :)

It took longer to sync than my servarica VPS, probably because the Linode one only has one virtual CPU core, vs 4 cores on the servarica box. Servarica took ~1.5 days to sync, Linode took ~3 days.

I tried using the importaddress RPC call to have the built-in wallet start watching an address. Then I used the watch command to repeatedly call the getreceivedbyaddress RPC call every 0.1 seconds so I could see how long it took for a tx to be detected. I sent a tx from electron cash on my PC and saw it instantly on both the Linode VPS (California) and the servarica VPS (Canada). Couldn't measure any discernable delay between them.

Total disk usage by BCHN is 5.6GB

TL;DR The smallest VPS you can buy from a mainstream/popular provider like Linode is perfectly sufficient to independently verify incoming payments. And it costs about half of one BTC tx per month.

Next step: integrate this tiny pruned node as the backend for my payment gateway :)

Accepting BCH for my tiny coffee roasting business???

    Posted: 04 May 2021 01:44 PM PDT

Any suggestions as to the easy way to make those transactions...which wallet? I'm pretty new to crypto. Any places I can advertise for free as taking BCH, which in turn, helps crypto grow. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. I don't think I'll be doing shipping, probably local due to costs. Any smart ideas on shipping. It seems it costs about 7 US shit dollars to send a pound. Thanks folks!

Bitcoin Cash Network Discussion May 1st, 2021 ELI5

    Posted: 05 May 2021 02:10 AM PDT

Satoshi's Angels summarized the latest Bitcoin Cash Network Discussion held on May 1st, so you can quickly get up to speed!:

On May 1st 2021 the 4th Bitcoin Cash Network Discussion took place over Zoom.

The main topic of the discussion was Smart Bitcoin Cash: An EVM compatible sidechain for Bitcoin Cash.

smartBCH is a BCH sidechain that makes adding DeFi and Web3 DApps much easier.

This includes the porting over of existing Ethereum based projects using the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine).

There are 2 serious problems in crypto right now. BCH's scripting system is still in the process of improving while ETH has become expensive due to capacity issues. smartBCH aims to solve both of these issues.

    💡 Potential Positives:

    • Most ETH projects are open source and could benefit from being easily ported to run on BCH. Similar ETH clones such as BSC are centralized and have very limited liquidity.
    • Another big advantage of smartBCH is that it is not just a clone of ETH. It was built from the ground up with hardware optimization in mind.
    • Staking and yield farming will become possible on BCH.
    • ETH does not work as well as BCH as p2p cash due to high fees. BCH can become the best of both worlds.

    🤔 Things To Consider:

    • The first validators of smartBCH will be selected by mining pools.
    • Smart contracts are only as secure as the programmer who made them. Bugs and flaws can lead to the loss of funds.
    • There is some controversy about the benefit of "burning" fees on the smartBCH sidechain.

How many miners and nodes are running Bitcoin cash?

How possible easy is it to mine Bitcoin cash on a home PC?

How many full nodes are there and what HDD spec Internet speed would I need to run one?

where are the miners located , would it be a security issue if they are mostly located in China?
