Travel Europe while only using Bitcoin cash, possible? Posted: 31 May 2021 07:46 AM PDT I've reached a point where I want to sell everything I have and leave the life I've created. I'm a single man (30M) with a house. My girlfriend is emotionally abusive. The event company I spent my life building was booming until covid. I do not want to rebuild it. I want to become a full time crypto researcher. I feel like the next thing for me is to set out into the world. So I thought to myself... how can I make this into something positive. I decided that if I go I want to travel only using crypto currency. I've got 15 BCH saved up and once I sell some more things I could have some more. What websites will show hostels that accept BCH? Restaurants? I don't know where to begin to plan this trip and was wondering if you guys would help. I'm down to couch surf or anything. I want to vlog the trip and transactions on YouTube. Any advice or guidance would be amazing. I'm just at a crossroads in life right now. [link] [comments]
'Why Cryptocurrencies?' is now available in print! Posted: 31 May 2021 11:43 AM PDT Today is a big milestone for me, as this marks a big milestone in the biggest personal project I've undertaken. My book 'Why Cryptocurrencies?' is released in print today! It's my attempt to explain what cryptocurrencies are and what problems they solve, in a simple and approachable manner. I've been working on the book in the open on GitHub and the first recorded commit is from Dec 19, 2018, with a chapter outline. 1237 commits later, and a bunch of work outside that, and the book is now Done™. (Only a year after my blog post saying it was done...) If you want to check it out, you can read it online for free or you can buy it from wherever you buy your books. What's next? I need to check the formating for the eBook, so it looks ok on as many platforms as possible. And then work on my self-hosted payment processor, which I'll use to sell the eBook on my site for crypto. (I'll be sure to make it available on various eBook platforms too.) I'm planning to write a couple of blog posts detailing how I made the book and some lessons or tips I have for aspiring writers:
After that, I can finally archive the book project as done and focus on the next big thing (maybe continue working on the payment processor?). [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 May 2021 03:56 AM PDT So I am a bitcoin fan, I view it as a store of value as Michael sailor states - I tend to agree. I know it's speculative, but all crypto is right. I also have a portfolio of alt coins that have unique value props. Honestly, I don't know the value prop for BCH or understand why it's so much cheaper compared to BTC. I know of the history - the fork, block size, but I want to know why YOU buy BCH over BTC - besides it being a faster better form of currency. Best. [link] [comments]

Why don’t I hear more about BCH SLP tokens? Posted: 30 May 2021 06:24 PM PDT I've been in the space for a while and had vaguely heard about tokens on BCH, but never really started messing around with it until recently. Has anyone else played around with creating your own tokens? Why aren't more wallets/exchanges SLP enabled? I'm surprised that I don't hear about it much. It would be huge if say a Coinbase started supporting SLP wallets. [link] [comments]
Bitcoin cash address formatting question Posted: 31 May 2021 01:41 PM PDT Hey guys. quick question regarding address formatting. My address says bitcoincash:xxxxxxx but when I enter this on a service that I am trying to withdraw from it says invalid format. Do I simply remove the bitcoincash: part? I do not want to loose my funds. Thank you and sorry for the simple question! [link] [comments]
Take care of your private keys. Save a backup of your wallets. Posted: 31 May 2021 01:15 PM PDT One sad will be to actually have a fortune and lose your private keys and worst it will be to lose your coins to a hacker, that is why if you hold or you are going to host your own private keys you must make your homework before starting and dedicate some time to it so that you better understand what you are doing, even if you already know how to set up your own wallets and save your private keys you should still read this article, maybe my advice may help you in the future. When backing up your private keys make sure you are not doing anything else but just that task, that way you will prevent any errors from your part in case you lose concentration you may write down one word of your seed phrase that is wrong and make your whole wallet invalid if possible write down your keys to a piece of paper and make sure to verify your seed phrase before sending any large amounts. A good way to verify that you actually have your 24 words seed phrase is by sending and small amount into your new setup wallet and processing to delete your newly created wallet so that you can restore your wallet from recovery seeds. That way you will know your seed phrase actually works and that you have access to your funds. When writing your seed phrase you could do it on a piece of paper but make sure no one else has access to that paper and that is protected against fires and floods if you want to have your phrases on an offline form. The other way will be to write down your seed words into a document file like Writer for Open Office or Word for Microsoft Office. When writing down those words for the first time it will be a good idea to do it on a PC that is disconnected from the internet, and if possible to use a newly installed version of Linux, or even a Live USB stick, once you write down your words you must protect that file with a password that you haven't use before on any other place. And also putting that document inside a WinRar file too. To protect it yet by another different password. Once your text file is protected by a writer or word password, protect it with a compressed password as well, in this case, WinRar, you could also put that file into another folder and compress that folder too, so that way your phrase key will be protected by three different passwords, make sure they are not the same as your email password or any other online service. And make sure you can remember them as well. Once your seed phrase is protected you could upload your file to Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive too, but make sure those services are protected by yet a different password than the ones you used in your recovery phrase, and also make sure you put a second-factor authentication (2FA) in your online accounts. This way your recovery seed phrase will be protected by four passwords and one 2FA token as well, and also you will protect your seeds against accidental loss, and also add your own backups at home like have your files also on a secondary hard drive if in case you lose access to your online accounts you still have your own backups in your house or secure place as well. Having your own private keys and hosting your own private keys is a responsibility that you must do in order to protect your money, and there are no compromises on this unless you want to use custodian services and if you want to use custodian services then you wouldn't be better off using cryptocurrencies. Part of being your own bank is being responsible with yourself first and most. Otherwise, you could end up losing your satoshis to a hack. I would also recommend for you learn to use Linux distributions for the purpose of using your device to access your coins, it is always good to have a dedicated device when it comes to using the blockchain, and you must make sure you can remember your passwords too. And use passwords that are easy for you to remember but hard for hackers to guess. I hope my advice can help someone out there on the internet. I recommend that people use online backup tools because it is easy to save files that way, in the case you lose your USB sticks or external drives you still have access to your private keys. Having your private keys on online storage also could help you if you need to restore your keys in another location, or if you suddenly need to change your location. Another thing that I would recommend is for users to use Authy for their 2FA application because that app helps you recover your 2FA tokens with just a phone number and password. So in case you lose your device or phone you can restore your 2FA passwords fast by using your phone number or email to recover your tokens, also make sure you set yet another password to protect your 2FA tokens as well. As you can see it is all about passwords and different passwords for each thing and you must remember them correctly but you also must make them hard for hackers to guess as well, and that way you will have your own bank secure and you will be your own bank without having to rely on custodian services. That is an advantage of using cryptocurrencies but you must be willing to learn to use them properly for those features to be useful to you. If you have something else you would like to add please by all means leave your comment in the comment section and I will respond to your comments and ideas. And if you could add your knowledge to this topic that will also be wonderful. [link] [comments]

What I needed to hear in this bear market... Posted: 31 May 2021 07:20 AM PDT This is exactly what I needed to hear in this bear market after losing way too much money in the recent drop. I usually dont watch videos like this but this one got to me and I will (hopefully) never do this mistake again. Here is the video that helped me realize my mistake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm-OV3Vt1Tc This was posted when BTC was at 60k USD so I think he has been around for a while [link] [comments]

BCH accidentally sent to BTC address, still unconfirmed Posted: 30 May 2021 03:55 PM PDT Hey guys, quick question I had, I just fucked up and sent BCH to a BTC address. I sent from Electrum, an online wallet, the transition is still unconfirmed but I can't access the pending funds. Is there a way to cancel the transaction? Or is the BCH lost in the void? Please let me know if this is breaking any rules or if this should be posted elsewhere, thank you so much! [link] [comments]
And now, what? What to do next? Posted: 30 May 2021 09:23 PM PDT https://read.cash/@francis105d1/and-now-what-what-to-do-next-731ed101 Well, the whole cryptocurrency market has been dumping in this long weekend, I guess you could call it a Memorial Day discount, for those with fiat currency in their pockets and an appetite for current prices. Those who bought in the previous lows are sitting pretty right now, but the market no one knows where it will take us, and whales for sure will try to capitalize on dumps and pumps. That being said what can the ordinary person do in this situations, pretty much nothing but sit pretty and start preparing for the next dump, if you are holding Bitcoin Cash and you bought at $1000 or more you are having some nasty unrealized losses, and if you bought at around $500 you will be okay at this point. Unless the price dumps below $400 many will not be okay. Now those holding Bitcoin Cash for the long term have no other choice but to wait for the market to go back up, and for those who believe in the peer-to-peer currency idea today, it could be a better entry-level to accumulate more satoshis in this market. And others who don't believe that much in the vision could end up selling their holdings today, and never look back. I do believe that it is when the markets are down when you make your money, if you were to sell when the price was $1600 and you buy today, you will be making some good profits and you will be getting your initial satoshis back. In my personal case, I didn't sell at the top and I am not buying right now. But I am planning my next move when it comes to holding Bitcoin Cash. I plan on saving some fiat currency to buy some Bitcoin Cash in the future because today I don't have any left to take advantage of this fall in price, the market may dump to previous lows, and by that what I mean is that it is possible to see Bitcoin Core BTC below $10,000 and even below $3000, that will mean that Bitcoin Cash could see its all-time low again which was around $75 to $100. Why so bearish? It is very simple when it comes to the market there is always a probability for the price to go up or down, and a price of $3500 for each BCH is possible the same is possible for a price to hit $75. What I am saying is there is the possibility for the price to hit all-time highs as well as to hit all-time lows. And the only thing you much do is to be prepared to buy into those opportunities. As such I do think it will be a good idea to always have some cash to buy in case you see a buying opportunity in the low levels, I'm not saying that those prices points will happen for sure, I am just saying to have some fiat currency around because you don't know when you may need it to buy the next dip. Buying today could be seen in the future as the best idea ever because it is possible also that we never see current prices again, my final message is that you should hold what little Bitcoin Cash you may have and don't sell, and if the price comes down, even more, to have some fiat at hand close by and ready to buy some more satoshis. The more you buy the more chance your address is randomly selected. the funds from all the tickets are then sent to the winner. if 4 people buy a ticket one of them wins 20$ if 100 people buy a ticket someone wins 500$ ect. each raffle is called every 24/hrs anyone wants to try it out https://www.bitcoincashraffle.com/ [link] [comments] |
