What would be the optimal fan position ? Now the two sides are blowing cold air towards the cards, is there another way better to do it ?

I'm confused. Do people not do research on gpu risers to not use sata to power cable?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 10:07 PM PDT

I'm completely new to mining but when I decided to buy another 5700xt. I needed a riser and what did I do? I went to mining community discords and researched reddit posts. People recommend gpurisers.com since they are quality. I myself am a cheap person and bought a chinese gpu riser. There's simple YouTube videos on how to safely power gpu risers. There are pictures of burnt shit because of gpu risers and sata power connections. Im just confused as to why I still see photos in mining subreddits with sata powered risers.

    Are Mining Predictions Accurate?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 02:07 AM PDT

I'm looking at getting into GPU mining as a hobby over a long summer break, and I wanna know whether the predicted returns I've found on websites are actually true. For example, Minerstat says with one 3070 I could get around $6 a day, but is this accurate? I've found similar figures on other websites (some lower after energy costs), but these too good to be true, for example 4 3070s is over $20 a day. Are people genuinely making this? Or are these top 1% prices? Thanks in advance

    Mining wear on a system

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 08:44 AM PDT

How hard I'd mining on a system more or less gpu? I have a family member willing to pay what I paid for the system minus 500 a year after I get it.

Debating on a 3090 since it'll make the most.. but I don't want the system to be crap (it does come with a 3 year warranty) so I feel better.

Just wanting to know how hard on the gaming computer mining will be.

PhoenixMiner - shows in TM "COPY" and "CUDA" graphs?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 08:33 AM PDT

When using PhoenixMiner (with Ethermine), is it normal for Task Manager to show activity in "COPY" and "CUDA" graphs?

T-Rex and NHQM only show activity in "CUDA" when in use, but I noticed PM also shows activity in "COPY", so was just wondering

Hey, can anyone help me? Tried Nicehash miner on my gaming PC with 1660s, just to se if i can earn 50/60$ a month, and in theory i could, but I'm using my PC way to much so I gave up. Removed Nicehash, everything is working great, just this thing is annoying, any easy fix insted of fresh system?

Is it too late to join the party? Buying mining devices in april 2021?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 01:40 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I have my old gaming PC it's been mining for a about a month now. And naturally am addicted to this....

There is an opportunity I can buy a new prebuilt gaming pc (Alienware aurora r12, i7 11700kf and rtx 3080 for just over 2000$), which in my country is the only way to get an RTX 3080 and not pay a f**** scalper.

Is mining Ethereum or other coins will remain profitable in the next 8-10 months? Yes or no and why?

Do you see this as a safe investment, especially that the Alienware aurora is a respectable gaming PC?

    Cheers,

Did the April 1st miner revolt happen?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:31 AM PDT

Just curious, I realized it's now April 4th and completely forgot about that proposed date months ago so what happened? Did it occur? I didn't see anything unusual. And was there any significant network disruption or did miners just say they were going to do it but secretly laughed at whoever proposed this idea? =(

Anybody familiar with the ezil.me pool?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:26 AM PDT

I kept getting ads for it and the dual mining thing seemed worthy of checking out, but I really don't know if I trust it

Previous pool was 2miners and my 3070 would have a bad share maybe once a day. 2x 3080's I've literally never seen one, and thats running them over 100mh at times.

When I switched I started seeing bad shares from the 3070 I turned it down. went from ~62 -> 60 or so. Turned down the 3080's too, from 99.5 -> 97ish. they're running smooth and quiet, trex showing temps high 40s - mid 50s

I'm getting like 10 bad shares a day out of the three cards, on reduced settings.

I don't understand how changing the pool can cause such a dramatic change in the cards performance, and I don't want to keep running them like this. Should I move back to the old pool?

Should I trade my Vega 56 for a GTX 1080?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2021 07:17 AM PDT

Hey guys, so I have a Vega 56, but I am a gamer and not a miner. The problem with this card is that it's too loud for me, I hate the blower cooler. And I just now found out that there are miners willing to trade their GTX 1080 which has slightly better performance for the Vega 56, and now I'm thinking if I should try to find a miner who would do it.
Do you guys think it's worth it? If no, why?

P.S. The GPU has Samsung Memory and is flashed with Vega 64 bios, if that changes anything.

Simple question: Would a coin value rise or drop if a lot of miners suddenly came to mine it ?

3080 FE Thermal Pads - Need Some Help

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 03:47 PM PDT

So just tried to do my backplate side with 3mm Thermalright Extreme Odyssey and my temps are basically the same as before. I honestly don't understand it. The card is put back together just fine so I know it's not a contact issue. Does someone have an end all be all diagram for pad placement? I'm just not sure what I did wrong here.

    Thanks

Can you use a MiniPCIE slot with riser?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 07:35 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I noticed on one my old Dell mobos that I have a MiniPCIE slot (where the old wifi card used to be attached to).

Has anyone tried using a MiniPCIE risers to connect a GPU to them?

What is a good range of memory temperature?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:01 PM PDT

I have 5700xt modded bios'. I get literally around 80c to max 82c for memory temperatures. I have never opened them up and added thermal pads. Do I need to be cautious about these high temperatures in the future? If so, would i have to find a way to lower them? Replace pads in the nearby future? Or is this temperature okay?

Can you mix server PSU PCIE cables?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 08:43 PM PDT

    Site such as: https://www.parallelminer.com/product-category/power-accessories/server-power-supply/

Sell all sorts of different brands of server PSU

From what I can see, they all use the same generic PCIE cables. Is it ok to fix them?

Mining with a Asus Nvidia GTX 3060 on Ubuntu and Hashrate

Is there currently a way in ubuntu people are overriding the current limit? I only see stuff about the windows beta driver. I have been searching everywhere and struggling to find a resource.

    Thanks
