Reasons to mine vertcoin! (EIP Refugees and People who use their PC for other stuff too welcome) (moderate shill.)

(Disclosure, I've been mining the coin since around feb, and i've accumulated around 137 VTC, and I'm an active member of their discord. So of course expect some bias). but I really do think this Algo VERTHASH, based on ethash has potential, once this coin 5x-10x's at the end of the year. due to the influx of people mining the only two coins left, Raven and Vertcoin, after the EIP, and the complete death of GPU mining of ETH.

Reasons to start mining vertcoin after the EIP,

It takes zero effort what so ever.

allows you to mine and game at the same time, and make full use of your computer aswell.
This coin's algo is based of Ethash but it has a fixed 1.3 GB dag, and is completely responsive and useable of other things on a 4GB GPU,

The coin has an active discord community.

Ever since the fork, the price has been more bullish than ever, and all the coin needs is awareness of this revolutionary evolution of the POW ALGO.

Rhetoric and Vertcoin propaganda section, This coin allows the average joe with a GPU to mine without having to compromise at all. You can have your cake and eat it too with this coin, and the masses can mine profitably even on a GT730 (with a moderate underclock on the GDDR5 + cheap electric) Once this coin actually does get some traction the coin price will skyrocket, but mining vertcoin now is only if you want a head start and extra money in the future, for now you should continue to mine ETH and raven if your looking to dump for profit.

The coin has been around since 2014, and has forked it's self multiple times due to asics and 51% attacks, this algo is result of a hardened die hard community believing in populist crypto fundamentals, and GPU mining. This coin is the least likely to have ASICS developed for it, specially being FORKED FROM ETH AND EVEN MORE HARDENED than before with a FIXED DAG.

I hope you enjoyed my autistic sperg, please give me comments and dont ban me for being a shill, Im just giving your guys a solution to the EIP problem.

I might have bricked my new 3080

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 08:02 AM PDT

I was getting horrible vram temps so I put in some new thermal pads on my vram. Then when I was playing valheim I had a significant bump in core temps so I though no big deal I'll switch out the 3mm TIM for 2mm and hopefully that helps with cooling.

Now I get no display. Card powers on and fans power up. But I might be bricked.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Low hashrate on 1080 Ti. Bad silicon lottery or normal?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 06:52 AM PDT

Hello everyone. I'm a mining newbie and I decided to utilize my gaming PC with a 1080 Ti for mining while I'm not using it. I started with nicehash first and now I've moved to ethermine. I've tried out a couple of miners so far such as phoenix miner, g miner and lolminer and they all are hitting at most 31-33mh/s. I've had the same rate in nicehash before I moved.

At first when I started mining I had my gaming overclock on which was +120% power and 90C temp limits as well as +50 on core and +200 on memory. This gave me around 34-35mh/s. Then I did some reasearch and changed the OC to 80% Power Limit, - 50 mhz on core and +300mhz on memory (anything above that would not be stable unfortunately). I see people getting better mh/s on a 1080 and I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong or if this is just the shit end of the silicon lottery. I'm using Windows 10 and a Ryzen 7 3700x with an X570 chipset.

Ah and also I tried ETHlargementPill but it didn't do anything. My drivers are new as well.

rtx 3070 hash rates goes up and down a lot.

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 05:49 AM PDT

Hi. I recently got a Palit rtx 3070 (jetstream oc) and made my clock +1200 while making the core -300.

my hash rate keeps going up and down between 50 and 60 mh/s it's usually at 55mh/s tho. but it keeps going up and down. I'm wondering why this is happening.

my temps are insanely cool at 70% which is shocking. my old card was 75 degrees at 75% fan (tho it was 3.5 years old and not repasted)

this one is 55c with 68c at the hotspot.

why does my hash rate keep going up and down.?

i upped my power limit but I don't think there was a difference. it' sonly using 120w afterall

    my memory clocks are stable

Delta 2400W PSU questions regarding connectivity and loudness

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 06:08 PM PDT

Looking at upgrading from a single ATX GPU to a Delta 2400w PSU. A few questions:

    1. Is it loud? I understand it's a server PSU and they can get loud, but how is this one generally? I'm assuming 70% use is the threshold for fan speed spinup, right? The only one I've seen on Youtube doesn't seem that loud, but is only running a MB and 1 GPU.
    2. Power Cable that comes with it is a C19 to PDU plug. I don't own a PDU. Am I able to swap that cable and go directly to an outlet? eg: https://www.amazon.com/NEMA-L6-30P-C19-Power-Cord/dp/B004WOE85S
    3. PCI Cables - Technically 1 PCI 6 pin is rated up to 400w, so if a card requires 2 PCI 8 pins, a splitter is fine? - Just looking for verification on this.

Anything else I'm missing here? I'd most likely be purchasing this kit: https://www.parallelminer.com/product/all-in-one-gpu-mining-power-supply-zsx-kit-delta-2400-watt-platinum-94-power-supply-200-240v/

    Windows to HiveOS?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 01:51 PM PDT

Hi so i currently have a 3 gpu (2 x 3070 and 1 rx 5700 xt) mining rig. i'm not sure if the specs matter to this specific question so i'll leave them out. I'm currently mining on Phoenix Miner and this is all being done on windows.

I was recently told about the linux OS HiveOs. I am thinking of making the switch. My plan is to buy and install an ssd to my rig, and just install Hive onto it. Or i was recommended doing it on a USB stick.

Am i able to do this while windows is already installed, or will have to reset everything and start from scratch. I'm not very software literate and know more about hardware so bare with me if this is a very newbie question.

    Thanks in advance guys!

I've just realized that Coinbase's ETH Wallet is changing constatly. So did I lose the 0.1 ETH I mined to my Coinbase ETH address?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 01:32 AM PDT

    Hi,

Newbie miner here, so I set my mining rig to mine into my Coinbase app's ETH wallet, which I just realized has been changed in the recent days. So is it some temporarly address? Or what is going on?

Is that means I have no more access to my old wallet and my 0.1 ETH basically stuck there?

I use ethermine pool, thanks in advance.

    Permanent Vram Damage?

    Permanent Vram Damage?

Hi, I'm a new miner. I've been running a 3070 FE to mine for a month or so, today I got a Leadtek 3090 and I've put it in my mining rig with my 3070. Here's how it looks

    https://preview.redd.it/3wi6id97ofr61.png?width=1874&format=png&auto=webp&s=e03154592cc7b4124978754bb7262e931653718b

I guess my first question is what do you guys think? are the temps, fan speed, hashrate and stuff ok? I want my card and fan to last me a lifetime or at least longer than professional miners who roi their cards in a few months with double profits and stuff but since I'm mining to hold it's different for me. I might just take them off and start gaming after a year or so or maybe less.

My 2nd question is I heard some of 3090 cards vram gets overheated easily and it gets permanently damaged, I don't want that to happen to my card. So is there anyway I can see memory temp of my card in HiveOS? I saw a image doing this, but I don't know how to

    https://preview.redd.it/4pbvu9b8ofr61.png?width=892&format=png&auto=webp&s=96f66c407dac75249e1fd387f9fcb1710b5f757d

I mean I could turn my autofan settings and target memory temp into something safe but I heard putting the rig on autofan decreases your fan health as it spins according to the target temp and not in a stable static rpm. So what do I do??

    Thank you

    RTX 3080 crashes Phoenix Miner

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 02:43 PM PDT

I'm running RTX 3080 Suprim and rx 5700xt with Phoenix miner on win10. 5700xt does great and is stable, but the 3080 freezes the whole rig after about 15 min of mining.

Phoenix Miner sats first "GPU unable to get fan speed - unknown error (999)" and shortly after that "GPU not responding" and "Thread(s) not responding. Restarting." After that mining stops and the Windows freezes.

I've raised the virtual memory to 22Gb. I've also tried older driver for the 3080. Settings i'm using in afterburner: 65% PL, -200 core, +950 mem, fan set to 78%. Phoenix Miner's .bat file has only the basics and no settings for GPU's. Any ideas what's causing this problem?

Just wondering what other users are using. I set my memory clock to 1790 (1800 is a little unstable), gpu clock to 1300 at 750 mv, and limit power draw by -10% and I'm getting around 50-51 MH/s reported hash rate at 90W with temperatures around 55-60 degrees Celsius on stock BIOS.

MSI 5600 xt MECH OC driver keeps crashing.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 10:12 PM PDT

MSI 5600 xt MECH OC driver keeps crashing.

Hello all. Pretty new to mining. Trying to figure out how to correctly tune my 5600xt MECH OC so that the driver will stop crashing. I am mining Etherium with PhoenixMiner on BetterHash.

    Specs are as follows:

    https://preview.redd.it/7nbfu51xkhr61.png?width=653&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c797e6b5d5930bf330f05f99f401594b41e5e31

Right now I am getting ~40MH/s. Problem is that the driver will crash after a while, then it will jump back to default settings.

First question is what should my fan speed setting be? Auto? 50% all the time? Current temp is 57C and Junction temp is 66C. Could the driver crashing be because the card is overheating?

Next question is that if the driver is crashing what values should I change to try and stabilize it?

    Thank you all!

    EVGA 3090 Thermal Pad Thickness

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 09:11 PM PDT

I have been trying to figure out the EVGA FTW3 3090 Thermal pad thickness for months and finally found what appears to be a reliable source: https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3249351&p=2

EVGA support responds at top of page 2 with pad thickness for different EVGA models.

Will do my best to match the sizes...but won't be able to get them perfect. Has anyone had success replacing theirs?

Building a mining rig in ventilated small space, advice?

Building a mining rig in ventilated small space, advice?

    Hello,

I'm currently building a ventilated room for my mining rig that will sucks cold filtered air and dumps the hot air outside.I wanted to get some advice from some knowledgeable & experienced people before I go ahead and build it :)

The cooling requirements for my rig is for around 2000 watt, I'll be using a industry ventilation fan that will suck the hot air and exhaust it outside. The fan will operated around 2880 mm3 per hour or 1700 CFM, this should replace all the air inside the room every 3 seconds.

There's no need for any intake fans as the room will have negative pressure and the outside air will be sucked in. The room's door and small cracks/spaces will be insulated so it wont suck any air from the house.

The cold air that gets sucked in will be distributed by the fans that's placed in front of the GPUs.

I will also be using a very fine filter that will remove partials as small as pollen.

Here's some 3D models of the room/rig along with a irl picture of the room:

    https://imgur.com/a/Sb42Kv0

The yellow circles = fans, White rectangle = the windows (will replace with wood), Purple tubes = aluminum air ducts.
