Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:15 PM PDT I started just last year accumulating ETH and never thought that it would be up 7x (and almost 8x) in much less than a year. I can only imagine how much further appreciation is going to take place between now and the end of the year... especially with ETH2.0 on the near horizon. Time for me to continue accumulating. Please explain BETH/ETH2 to me Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:11 AM PDT How is it possible that ETH2 (kraken) and BETH (binance) are a lot cheaper than ETH? Doesn't that basically mean that i can buy ETH with a discount as long as i hold it until the network goes live? I just don't understand the mechanism and motivation here. [link] [comments]

My biggest question when it comes to PoS security. Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:23 PM PDT Please educate me. So with PoW every additional block makes all previous blocks more secure because changing any past block invalidates all work done in the following blocks. Does PoS have this same property? If so how? If not aren't the PoS skeptics at least partially right, PoS isn't as secure as PoW? I mean even if this is the case it doesn't necessarily mean that PoS isn't secure enough, but it would be interesting to know. Thanks again! [link] [comments]
I just bought some Ethereum, now what? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 05:42 AM PDT Relatively new to crypto as a whole, and I decided the best way to learn was to invest a small amount that I don't mind losing. I bought some Ethereum and Bitcoin, and was just wondering what to do now. Do I move the coins to a wallet? Do I leave them on my exchange platform (digital surge) until I sell? Do I move them somewhere to stale them? I am planning to hold for a little while btw and any links to threads already discussing this would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]

I sent ETH from an exchange and got an out of gas Posted: 30 Apr 2021 10:51 AM PDT now my coins are gone from my exchange account. I could not set the outgoing gas limit and thought the ETH fee set the exchange would be enough. This utterly sucks. Now the exchanges says my ticket will take days to be processed due to large volume of inquiries. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2021 01:40 PM PDT Two part question: Once Ethereum 2.0 goes live, how does the old ETH token that we all hold today get converted into the new ETH2 asset? Also, Coinbase has just opened me up to deposit my current ETH into their staking rewards program. Do you feel there is any critical drawback in this? Your advice is most certainly appreciated. -Cheers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2021 05:29 AM PDT Ethereum's scalability problems Scalability seems to be Ethereum's number 1 problem according to most users, and there's a lot of excitement around L2 solutions like optimism and zk-rollups. Solana claims to address this problem without sharding or rollups. According to them, they can process up to 50,000 tx/s right now. My experience with L2 I've playing around with L2 rollups just for the sake of testing them, and honestly, so far the experience has been downright terrible. Losing composability is a major blow to the ecosystem, so for DeFi users L2 exchanges are downright inconvenient, limited and rather expensive. And for small traders or holders, who only do the occasional swap, it's objectively better to do trading on CEXs... Or even L1 (because the cost of depositing and whitdrawing from L2 ruins them). Hence, I'm not surprised at all users are still on Uniswap or CEXs and not on, say, Loopring. I understand it's early days and most projects still live on L1, but because composability is lost, then L2 bridges will be necessary to move funds from L2 to L2, I'm not fully convinced this will ever be a good experience. I guess the vision is L1 will just become a settlement layer for a bunch of L2 rollups. What Solana claims to do Solana claims to have solved the blockchain impossible trinity using VDFs (Verifiable Delayed Functions) to support their Proof of Stake. This combination seems to provide decentralization, low transaction costs and privacy at the same time. Their solution, if it works as intended, keeps L1 composability and can scale over time. This seems like a major threat to Ethereum DeFi dominance to me, not tomorrow, but in the mid to long term. Your thoughts on Solana What do you think of Solana? Do you think it's an actual threat or am I missing some problems with its design that makes it less attractive as a blockchain? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:28 PM PDT So let's say the big Ethereum whales receive a lot of the mined coins because of their proof of stake. If they are in America, and the Biden tax plan goes through, their PoS coins are taxed as income at likely the top marginal rate on those coins they earn from proof of stake. They have to sell half those coins if they live in California to pay taxes between January 1 and April 15th every year, or quarterly if taxed quarterly. This puts continuous downward pressure on the price of Ethereum. If they were mining they would have business deductions for mining equipment and power at least, which would lower their taxable expenditures. They could even pay for some of these deductions in Ethereum canceling out their need to sell into dollars. If there was a big run up in one year, the next year's falling prices would require them selling more than 50% of their proof of stake mined Ethereum. Thus, I anticipate all the big Ethereum whales moving to Puerto Rico. [link] [comments]
Is there a link to donate ETH for India? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 04:21 PM PDT I saw one to donate sats for India here https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/n24qp5/bitcoinlightning_powered_help_for_the_covid/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf But unfortunately for someone who has given up sats for eth... Is there something similar for ETH? [link] [comments]
Can someone please explain yield farming as if I were a 5 year old? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 11:17 AM PDT I just don't understand it. What tokens are best suited for it? How profitable is it currently? What are the potential profits? If I have 100 ethereum, what sort of profits would I expect? Is this passive income or must I have to keep an eye on it actively? What risks are involved? Thanks for you time & attention. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2021 04:14 PM PDT I want to buy some ETH but i dont know when... it was on 1800€ and i was to dumb to buy and now its on 2300€... what so you think, is it worth now or should i wait? I am mining ETH too 😝 [link] [comments]
Reconciling PoW and PoS rewards question. Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:57 PM PDT I can't seem to find an answer on how the beacon chain is able to give out staking rewards right now, even though they are locked up, while the current PoW chain is still issuing PoW rewards. How are both PoS and PoW rewards being given at the same time? Is the issuance currently double? [link] [comments] |
