    A question for crypto investors

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 10:15 PM PDT

I bought some Studentcoin: I think it's a great idea. I just checked the app and saw that what I put into it has about tripled in value, monetarily. And I just had the thought, that, yes, it's going to be worth something, but is it really worth it to sell /only/ for profit? This thing is going to be used by students and universities...this could be a good means of investing in /people/. Even to donate, or invest. It could fund projects and all sorts of things. There could be some sort of scholarship system, or something. I dunno. I feel like this thing has more potential than making money: it has the potential to create change, impact lives.

That being said, is anyone out there investing in crypto for reasons beyond making money? And, if so, what currencies and why?

    Syrius Zenon wallet introduction https://youtu.be/t6A7vKhp-MY

based anon explanation What is it: Incredibly fast, almost infinitely scalable state-of-the-art DLT. It combines the block-lattice architecture that was first(?) used by Raiblocks/Nano with a DAG that exists as a separate layer for the consensus. The block-lattice handles the transactions. It's going to be used to scale Web3 dapps as a L1, and also process transactions as a L2 chain.

Who does it: This is an independent, open-source project and will probably be run by a foundation similar to Ethereum and Cardano, but I'm about 99.5% sure its backed by Square. I can enumerate the zillions of times they have hinted as such if I really have to here, but you can search for old biz posts on Zenon here and also on Warosu.

Square will likely use it to scale Bitcoin transactions where the default payment for merchants and Cashapp users is made in BTC, and then they can set it to dollars or pounds or whatever afterwards.

Its open source and not owned by Square, like how Node.js isn't owned by Google but has wide adoption. They'll easily recruit 1000s of legacy web apps for this bc no code changes are needed, and also dapps on Ethereum will easily switch over.

What is the total crypto market cap?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:20 PM PDT

Hey guys! I'm not a total noob, but I am a bit confused on a fundamental part of the market.

I know that the market cap of a particular cryptocurrency is made up of total circulating supply multiplied by the current market price and that this can give you a theoretical valuation or prediction tool.

However I am confused as to what actually makes up the total market cap of the entire crypto market and how it correlates so closely with most, if not all cryptocurrencies. Like is it the total market cap that is having an impact on prices or are the prices having impact on the total market cap? Or is it just volume related.

I feel like I'm overthinking this, or maybe I'm just a complete imbecile. Either way, I appreciate any feedback.
