Decrypt ripple-wallet.txt with help of username and password [old rippletrade.com Account]

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 02:45 PM PST

Hi Reddit-Community,hope someone can help me. I haven't been active in the crypto world for quite some time, but now I got intrested again. back in 2013 I got some ripple. Today they are worth 200 USD, which is for me A LOT of money....To be sure, they are save for a long time I stored them with the ripple-company itself on their site on rippletrade.com. I also downloaded the wallet file (ripple-wallet.txt) to be sure and stored my username and password safely.

However, rippletrade is gone. The migration is over. And my money seems to be lost.

At Ripple no one cares to even reply to my mails (they don't offer a phone number to call). Also the new alternative ripple suggests on their site is gatehub.net. I contacted them but they don't care and don't want to help. Migration time is over. A serious company should never treat customers like that and should never basically destroy their money...

I did some research. This is what I found out so far: (correct me if I'm wrong):

    • i will definitly need my secret key, to access my Ripple. This secret key is stored encrypted in the file
    • the file is encrypted with AES-CCM-256
    • my account-password is (!) NOT the encryption password

So the important Question is: how can I generate the encryption password with the help of my account password?

I found this GitHub repository (https://github.com/ripple/ripple-client) which seems to have a bit of the sourcecode of rippletrade.com. However I did not find the functions to export the wallet in the source code, which would be the important part to find out how the password for encryption is generated.

    Does anyone use trust wallet?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 11:12 AM PST

I had a toast wallet. Actually I still do but only have like 23 xrp on it still. The rest are on an exchange or NEXO. I'm looking for a wallet that will allow me to hold xrp and other coins. I'd also like to destroy my toast wallet to reclaim 15 of the xrp that are locked into my old toast wallet. Does anyone have an experience with using trust wallet for these reasons? If you think trust wallet sucks can you tell me why and what I should use instead? Thanks.
