How do you minimize gas fees when trying to do anything on the Ethereum network?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST

Hi wonder if anyone has advice. I'm trying to stake/do defi things using meta mask (or trust wallet), but gas fees are like $150-200 minimum per transaction. How are people getting around this?

Are there off-chain solutions to this problem? Are only those doing biz in large amounts ie. $50k+ actually able to participate right now bc of the high fees.

Oddly enough, when I try transferring between different wallets, the fee is much less only $5. Are these different transaction types that come w it's own gas fees?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Need help for mining ETH and put it in my Binance wallet

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 03:52 PM PST

I've downloaded PhoenixMiner and I'm trying to understand how to tell it to transfer the ETH to my Binance Wallet...

    I've edited the start_miner.bat this way :

    PhoenixMiner.exe -pool ssl://eu1.ethermine.org:5555 -wal MYWALLET.Rig001 -dagrestart 1 -rvram -1 -eres 0

and replaced MYWALLET with my wallet number but it doesn't seem to work as it's minnig but I don't receive any ETH on my wallet.

    Any idea ?

    Mad about Gas Fees?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 08:07 AM PST

Full disclosure, I own ETH, BTC, XMR and about 2 dozen other coins. Until recently, I had most of my portfolio in ETH and BTC; however, after reading a ton of negative posts about gas fees, and the switch from proof of work to proof of stake in this sub and countless others, I did some more research on the topic.

During that research, I stumbled upon a really good video called Sound Money Safe Mode. For anyone not familiar with it, I highly recommend you check out the slides on Scarcity (26:06) and Unwanted Scarcity (34:36). These slides cover asymptotic zero annualized inflation and silicon economies of scale. In short, they show the major shortfalls in design for ETH and BTC as compared to XMR.

Now, before you all downvote me and say I'm just here to push another coin, please read my opening statement again. As an investor, I believe in diversification, and I hope you'll check this out and keep an open mind.

    Simple Noob question please help

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 07:51 PM PST

So I'm trying to send a small amount of ethereum ($12) to my MEW wallet so I can use it for gas fees to get my chainlink back to the exchange wallet. Anyway, earlier today I would've paid 90% of that in fees, now it's down to 50% worth of fees. Can I expect anything lower? It seems absurd

    ETH MLM?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 07:20 PM PST

There's a plethora of wallets out there. What's a reputable software wallet where you own your own keys, and can interact with other ERC20 tokens?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 02:17 PM PST

There are so many wallets out there. I was expecting to find just a handful of established, reputable software desktop ones. The official Ethereum.org site has a 'find a wallet' feature ( https://ethereum.org/en/wallets/find-wallet/ ) but don't give details on the criteria that are important to me.

Any recommendations here? I use Ubuntu Linux FWIW.

    Decentralize business opportunity

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 09:34 AM PST

Lately i've been brainstorming ideas for a new business, I have a Entrepreneurial Competition coming up at my University (any college student can compete DM me if interested). Anyways, i have found a lot of flaws with current business models, and think a lot of them could be solved by moving to a decentralized platform, obviously this isn't a fix all, and would only work in certain industries RN, and perhaps specific markets. What kind of advice can you offer? and is anyone else considering using crypto beyond the exchanges, and NFTs?

Mining with a 3080 and extreme memory overclocking

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 04:09 PM PST

    Hey there,
i really wanted to hit 100 mh/s and therefore decided to push memory clock. I' ve been mining with these stats on my Asus TUF Gaming 3080 OC:

    • Power Limit: 68%
    • Core Clock: -200
    • Memory Clock: +1350
    • GPU Watt: 231
    • GPU Temp: 45 Celsius
    • Vram Temp: 102,6
    • Fan Speed 69 %

    Tested over 10 hours and i got a Hashrate of 100,5 MH/s.
My question now is: Does the high memory overclock affect longliveness of my Gpu? Because VRAM Temperature seems to be fine. I would also be really happy, if you could give me a feedback for my settings. Are these good results? Is the power usage-hashrate ratio fine? I am very new to mining and don't have a lot of reference.
    Thanks a lot!
