Some guy at the weed shop told me to buy into bitcoin 8 months ago

    Posted: 07 Feb 2021 11:34 PM PST

This was way back in July when BTC was around 8k a coin. I met this dude at my local medical marijuana dispensary and we got to talking about money and investing. He wouldn't shut the fuck up about Bitcoin and how we all need to invest our money into it while it's low. The last thing he said before he left was "I promise you won't regret it". He spoke with alot of clarity and certainty, so that interaction stuck with me. The next few days I did my due diligence on researching Bitcoin and decided to toss around $1600 into it just to test the waters. I also called my dad, and somehow by the grace of of God, convinced him to invest into BTC. He bought 5k worth.

Fast forward to today and my dad and I both have more than doubled our investments. We've both since been investing more money into BTC and we follow it pretty closely. My dad is very happy with his BTC investment and I feel like a proud son for introducing him to it. And don't worry....we HODL. We see it being a retirement fund situation.

To that guy at the weed shop who told me to invest into BTC, thank you. Your advice not only has helped double my networth, but you helped strengthen my relationship with my father.

*Edit: It just occurred to me that the guy who was raving all about Bitcoin and told me to invest in it probably has made a ton of money from BTC since. He really believes in Bitcoin and spoke of it with conviction. He opened my eyes to a whole new world of currency. I'm sure he's sitting on an extremely generous profit. I'm happy for that guy.

Lads and Gents, fasten your seatbelts Ricardo Pliego changed his Twitter to Bitcoin ... Oh and by the way, Ricardo is the 3rd wealthiest guy in Mexico

    Posted: 07 Feb 2021 05:28 AM PST

Most of us won't really know Ricardo Salinas Pliego (a Mexican billionaire, $13.5B, TV broadcaster). However, in Central and South America this guy is a legend and Bitcoin supporter. And South America is craving for change, big times, in particular financial and currency system changes! The economy and fiscal system in so many South american countries is just really fucked up.

So Ricardo Salinas Pliego spreading his bullish sentiment and trust on Bitcoin is just tremendously big!

A few weeks ago, he posted this tweet that perfectly summarizes everything bout South americas fiscal issues (translated to English): "To start with Bitcoin, I share with you a video taken in a Latin country where banks throw money in the trash (paper money is worthless) that's why it's always good to diversify our investment portfolio"

And I guess I don't have to mention that Ricardo might also get one or two Bitcoins for him and his family too.

    History . [A MUST READ]

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 02:19 AM PST

On 18 August 2008, the domain name bitcoin.org was registered. Later that year, on 31 October, a link to a paper authored by Satoshi Nakamoto titled Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System was posted to a cryptography mailing list.

This paper detailed methods of using a peer-to-peer network to generate what was described as "a system for electronic transactions without relying on trust".

On 3 January 2009, the bitcoin network came into existence with Satoshi Nakamoto mining the genesis block of bitcoin (block number 0), which had a reward of 50 bitcoins. Embedded in the coinbase of this block was the text:

The Times Jan/03/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks. The text refers to a headline in The Times published on 3 January 2009. This note has been interpreted as both a timestamp of the genesis date and a derisive comment on the instability caused by fractional-reserve banking

The first open source bitcoin client was released on 9 January 2009, hosted at SourceForge.

One of the first supporters, adopters, contributors to bitcoin and receiver of the first bitcoin transaction was programmer Hal Finney. Finney downloaded the bitcoin software the day it was released, and received 10 bitcoins from Nakamoto in the world's first bitcoin transaction on 12 January 2009 (bloc 170).Other early supporters were Wei Dai, creator of bitcoin predecessor b-money, and Nick Szabo, creator of bitcoin predecessor bit gold.

In the early days, Nakamoto is estimated to have mined 1 million bitcoins.[25] Before disappearing from any involvement in bitcoin, Nakamoto in a sense handed over the reins to developer Gavin Andresen, who then became the bitcoin lead developer at the Bitcoin Foundation, the 'anarchic' bitcoin community's closest thing to an official public face.

The value of the first bitcoin transactions were negotiated by individuals on the bitcoin forum with one notable transaction of 10,000 BTC used to indirectly purchase two pizzas delivered by Papa John's.

On 6 August 2010, a major vulnerability in the bitcoin protocol was spotted. Transactions weren't properly verified before they were included in the transaction log or blockchain, which let users bypass bitcoin's economic restrictions and create an indefinite number of bitcoins. On 15 August, the vulnerability was exploited; over 184 billion bitcoins were generated in a transaction, and sent to two addresses on the network. Within hours, the transaction was spotted and erased from the transaction log after the bug was fixed and the network forked to an updated version of the bitcoin protocol. This was the only major security flaw found and exploited in bitcoin's history.

    We Don't Need Them!

    Posted: 07 Feb 2021 05:07 PM PST

All these billionaires who are advocating for bitcoin lately has honestly been a bit nauseating to see. These are the people whom have profited the most in the fiat world and did so on the backs of the working class folks for decades who see an opportunity to try to get us to look at them in a positive light because they have a #bitcoin in their Twitter profile? Give me a break! They are not our friends.

The reality is that main st beat Wall St. to the bitcoin revolution and the revolution is here for us, not the billionaires. We don't need them for this to work and they will soon come to realize that by promoting bitcoin it will only expedite the new reality that the truly powerful of the new world are the ideologically aligned bitcoin holders that won't sell to those kinds of folks regardless of the fiat price. We already won and they're just like Wile E. Coyote who ran over a cliff but just hasn't looked down yet.
