Posted: 31 Jan 2021 01:40 PM PST New to Ethereum and was curious if there were any resources outsides of Reddit that anyone uses to learn about, and/or stay on top of Ether and the crypto market? (Mods, if this has been answered elsewhere, I apologize and I accept removal of the post) [link] [comments]

Accepting Ethereum payments on my website? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:57 AM PST I'm new to ethereum, an I really like the idea of being able to accept payments on a website for ecommerce without a merchant account or paypal. But when I look into accepting payments via ethereum, I have to sign up for some corporate website like bitpay or coinbase for merchants and once again I'm at the mercy of a third party. So... how can I accept payments via qr codes on my website, plug into some kind of api for backend things..... also pay affiliates immediately in eth, yet still have full control over a node/wallet that isn't controlled by a third party? Sorry, kind of a newbie, but isn't this like the main application of crypto and why isn't it easier to setup? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:27 AM PST Hi everyone, I'm planning buy some ethereum and get into the world of crypto investing. What do you think is the best wallet to use as an unexperienced trader and why? [link] [comments]

Noob question - is there a decentralized stock exchange built on Ethereum? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:17 AM PST Given recent events, a decentralized stock exchange would be highly successful and introduce the masses to Ethereum. Does one exist and if not why hasn't one been developed yet? [link] [comments]
What derivative market do you think will be functioning first on eth? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:59 PM PST Do you think we'll see a fairly decentralized derivatives market for trading stocks and other assets any time soon? If so, who do you think is capable of doing this? SNX, INJ, MIR, etc. ? [link] [comments]
Stablecoins: winner takes all? or, what is the argument for variety? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 07:08 PM PST Is it a necessary conclusion that there will be one stablecoin to rule them all? As a savvy but non-technical evangelist and follower of Ethereum for 4+ years (meaning, I generally "get it," though the technical aspects can fly over my head at times), I don't need an ELI5 on stablecoins. However, I do feel as though I am missing something. Is it as simple as: there will be as many stablecoins as the market demands? That markets love variety, and if these coins offer different savings rates, governance etc., end users will flow toward those where they find value? Or will network effects necessitate a flow toward a single superior coin? Put another way: (aside from being a crypto purist who is wary of legacy institutions -- sure, a reason in and of itself, but let's put that aside for now) why would one elect to hold Dai over USDC? What about Dai vs. DeFiDollar? Etc. etc. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Understanding Gas prices vs. Gas Now website Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:06 PM PST When I submit something for transaction (to approve a coin, for example) im prompted to pay a gas fee of ".008459 " which is about $11. When I check the Gasnow website it has a listing of 150gwei for "fast", but displays the cost of about $4. I'm not sure why it seems like I'm being charged less gwei for the token approval, but it costs more in USD. I cant seem to understand the discrepancy in gas prices. Can anyone briefly explain? thanks [link] [comments]

How will newcomers earn Ether after the docking of Eth2.0? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 01:53 PM PST Please correct me if I am mistaken, but don't a lot of newcomers to crypto come because they already have computers with the ability to start mining small amounts of coin? How will this work under a Proof of Stake concept? If I am a layperson who is interested in getting started with crypto that uses PoS, I will have to purchase some ether (or mine another coin, and trade) before I join a staking pool, whereas with PoW crypto you can begin earning coin right away. Wouldn't this make it less likely for increasing accessibility? I often see the argument that becoming a validator is more accessible than becoming a miner because of the small amount of resources required opposed to PoW. Also, if PoS takes over as the dominant concept over PoW in the crypto world, and mining becomes a thing of the past -- wouldn't the only way to stake would be to convert Fiat to crypto? I tried to do as much research as possible, I wish there was a super long FAQ I could fine this question in, but I guess the only place I would find that is deeply buried in some forum somewhere [link] [comments]
Something peculiar about discussions on ethereum inflation vs fiat USD inflation rates Posted: 31 Jan 2021 07:50 PM PST A concern some have discussed is that eth inflation is similar to fiat because there is no hard cap so it is inflated on a regular basis. There are a lot of valid reasons why eth inflation is more sustainable than fiat but I realized no one is talking about a major fundamental difference in fiat inflation vs ethereum inflation. When we discuss ether inflation we are using the literal percentage of newly issued coins each year. Inflation rates for USD are not calculated this way and if we did want to compare direct inflation in terms of money printed each year it is wayyy more than 2-3% a year. More like 10-30+% annual increase in base currency for the past decade. I just started thinking about this a lot and I don't think anyone is really talking about it... [link] [comments]
Out of the loop for Years Mist Wallet Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:59 PM PST So in 2017 I bought ETH on Coinbase and moved it to the mist wallet. I just opened up my computer where I had it and the mist wallet opens up but I just get a loading circle with a blank screen. Looks like it's been closed. How do I transfer my ETH to another wallet? All I have is my Geth and keystone folders which are like 25gbs What do I do? [link] [comments]

I'm looking for an insurance product in USA. Cannabis Crop Insurance or Forward Contract Insurance Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:32 AM PST Hi, I write forward contracts for Cannabis farmers, that promise to pay them a price at a future time per pound. These contracts can then be sold to processors that make packaged flower and or cannabis oil. The problem: I can't sell the contracts and get paid without the underlying asset (the Cannabis) being insured when it's growing in the ground because the farmer might have a catastrophic loss. I need either the crop insured or the contract, and the insurance has to be able to cover the commission paid to the sellers of the contracts. [link] [comments]
Can I turn a Mac book into a node? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:46 PM PST Hi, My uncle (who employs me) asked me to make an ethereum node. He suggested I use a raspberry pi, but I don't have any and don't want to buy one. I have two old Mac book pros (not THAT old... 2016 and 2018) that I don't use anymore and I thought about using one of those. Is this feasible? If so, how would I go about it. If anyone has any insight that would be great! Thanks! [link] [comments]
