My dad believed in Bitcoin more than I did.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:54 PM PST

He passed in March of last year. We had talked about Bitcoin and some other cryptos quite a bit in the few years prior to that.

Knowing his time was near, one of the last things that he said to me was that he felt strongly that he believed Bitcoin would be the key to financial freedom for me.

It is looking more and more like he was right.

I just wish he was still around to see it.

I love and miss you, dad.

EDIT: Really wasn't expecting this to blow up like this. Thank you so much for all of the kind words. I'm going to attempt to reply to each one individually, but it may take a while!

Wish I didn't sell my family into slavery to buy Bitcoin at $34,200. Definitely not going to buy more at $8,500, I'll probably wait until it hits $75,000 and hop back in.

I just don't understand how an asset that can swing 20% in an hour could ever be worth anything. Really wishing I didn't sell my kidney now. Stupid fake internet money, shoulda listened to my dad who can't even access his e-mail account.

✌️ Gonna go drown myself in the sauce.

The man who received the first BTC transaction passed away far too early. Let‘s raise our glasses for Hal Finney the man who might even be Satoshi Nakamoto himself

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:48 AM PST

I would love to see the satifisfying smile on Hal Finney's face as „his" Bitcoin is paving its way to become an accredited and established financial network as well as storage of wealth.

Dear Hal, your Bitcoin just cracked the $34k barrier! You and your friends have kicked off a fukcing revolution back in 2009. Sadly, in 2014 you passed away far too early due to your ALS disease 😔 You never witnessed how big and strong your baby actually got.

Today is the 12th birthday of Bitcoin. Hal Finney) was the receiver of the first BTC transcation, sent by Satoshi Nakamoto on January 12th, 2009.

Many community fellows, including myself, are advocates of the theory that Satoshi Nakamoto actually sent that very first Bitcoin to himself. Hal Finney and Satoshi Nakamoto might be one and the same person (Source).

Anyways, no matter if he really is Satoshi or not, I would like to say thank you to a wonderful and great human, whose achievements and engagements can't be appreciated enough ✨

Ethereum Just Tapped $1,000 Amid Colossal 30% Rally

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 03:00 PM PST

    Thank you, ETH.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:42 PM PST

My story is probably not much unlike other new investors here.

But thank you, thank you so much crypto community.

My father gifted me some ETH for Christmas this year. The hodl profits have afforded me first class tickets (safest in regards to social distancing) to and from where my grandmother, who we believe may have Alzheimer's, lives.

    THE PROFITS ALONE.

Thank you for convincing me to hodl.

It's not a lot of money, but it helps me so much.

    Thank you crypto community.

    Thank you ETH.

    Thank you dad.

    All love.

I day traded my $1200 worth of crypto currency and the IRS say I made 100k??

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 11:09 PM PST

I think im a day trader or something so I resold and bought back the bitcoin I had in my coinbase pro account and now the IRS is saying I made 200k. I lost around $200 doing this actually, panic selling then buying back. more then 50 times.

Now Coinbase wants me to fill out a tax form, and it has trades that I made 200k, wtf is going on?

    Don’t forget the past

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 01:24 AM PST

Hi, this is just a friendly reminder. Please don't forget what happened in January 2018. If you entered in the crypto market during the recent hype please take a look at the charts of Bitcoin between September 2017 and March 2017. The price went to the moon in a few months and then fell just as hard. I'm not trying to generate fear, but be careful. I entered the market in October 2017 and in a few months I saw my (thank god little) investment double and then fell to the half of what I originally invested. It was money I was ready to lose so it wasn't a big deal but I read of people losing fortunes and life savings. I'm seriously concerned that this will happen again and tons of people will lose a lot. Please don't be that person, do your research and watch out. I'm by no means an expert but this pace won't go on for long and when the whales will get out the panic will kick in and the price will plummet. In 2018 people said that the price fell because of the Chinese New Year and people getting their money out to buy presents and stuff like that. This might happen again, so watch out. It's easy to get lost in the hype and think that the train will never stop, but it will sooner or later.

That being said I sincerely hope that I'm wrong, the price will keep rising and you all get rich, but if the price will fall and in a few weeks/months btc is back at 10k it's on you.

TL,DR: the market might soon fall down hard like it just went up, just like it happened in January 2018 so watch out and don't lose all your money.

    Why is NANO so polarizing?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 11:46 AM PST

I only dabble in any cryptocurrency. I have a small amount of BTC and a small amount of NANO. I invest for fun not ever expecting to make any life-changing money. I'm not trying to shill anything just curious. NANO seems to be wildly polarizing; people either love it or hate it. This leads me to several questions:

People who love NANO, how can you still love it when it hasn't moved much in price since it crashed in 2017. What kept you interested?

People who hate NANO, why do you think NANO is not a viable investment option?

Disclaimer: I know very little when it comes to crypto. I browse the boards and do a little reading but I'm just trying to educate myself still at this point.

It’s about time Coinbase list VeChain (VET).

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 04:46 PM PST

It's been nearly six months since Coinbase announced they would be reviewing VET as a possible new coin on the exchange. I am just saying it's about time they follow through with their plan and add it already. VET is legit, has applied for US Patents on the tech, and other US exchanges have already listed it.

Brian Armstrong <—- I am looking at you to follow through with this, or I'd be much less interested in your IPO since you can't follow up with the direction you said you'd be taking the company...

Hey Nano Holders, How you doin?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 03:06 PM PST

Pretty much everything is in the title :)

I was checking the charts and I saw that altcoins are half and half : half of them up, half of them down.

Among those, it was hard to do not notice Nano : +70% in few hours hahaha!

So, I'm asking a simple question that I don't see that much on this sub (because of the bears and the negativity of the market being most of the time in the red) :

Nano holders, how are you feeling ;) ?

Bitcoin's Rally to $30,000 Featured on Front Page of Financial Times

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 10:41 PM PST

A story of 10x growth in a little under 2 years

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:35 PM PST

I started investing in bitcoin and Eth and others in 2017, and rode the wave up to 20k. In the subsequent crash, at one point my total crypto holdings was worth about 12 grand in Feb 2019.

I just refreshed my Blockfolio app, and it just hit over 6 figures. It is mainly in btc (about 2/3), 25% in eth and the rest in Nano/monero/golem etc.

I did no active trading, no shorting, nothing except buy and hold.

I don't know where it's going to go from here, but I am glad to be on the ride.

Im never going to financially recover from this

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:39 PM PST

Back in early 2020 I had $8,000 to my name after being in the crypto markets since 2017. I had made a few mistakes which included taking out payday loans which to this days im still paying.

Back in the COVID March crash I shorted and made 0.5 BTC in 2 days, I got cocky and lost all of those BTC. Not only that I sold all my BTC at like $6,000 in around April hoping to buy in cheaper.

It is now early 2021, I completely missed the BTC run to $30,000. I only have $4,000 to my name right now. Since 2017 I mostly held EOS which has just slowly bled down to $2 and BTC but thanks to stupid trading I'm pretty much negative on that too, together with having to pay bi weekly payments to all my outstanding loans which equals to about $1,300 a month.

The worst part my family and friends keep asking me about BTC thinking I've made profit, little do they know I held fiat all this time, which means I was mostly negative for the year of 2020

Im literally about to give up, not sure what to do with the $4,000 I have left. I have a full time job but with the loan payments I have im living paycheck to paycheck.

Thinking of just buying BTC at $30k or wait for the pullback I been waiting since April.

Im just about to give up, I was thinking of maxing out my credit and just filing for bankruptcy or moving to Europe and start fresh.

Everyday that passes I realize that im not going to make it and that my change to be successful was in 2020 but I fucked it up. I'm at the breaking point of giving up
