The Bitcoin Cash Podcast #3: Elon Musk hypes Bitcoin & Crypto Convert Q&A

The valuation on Grayscale Bitcoin Cash Trust (BCHG) is ridiculous - and that's preventing retail investors from putting their 401k money into BCH

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 08:44 PM PST

GBTC and ETHE (Bitcoin and Ethereum Trusts) have reasonable premiums around 10% over the underlying cryptocurrency.

BCHG has a 1,000% premium. To buy a share, you'll pay 10x the amount for Bitcoin Cash you would buy on an exchange.

This means that all but the most sophisticated investors who use a self-directed trust cannot get exposure to Bitcoin Cash in their retirement accounts without paying 10x too much.

Why hasn't BCHG reached a reasonable valuation? If there's so much "demand" for it that the valuation is 10x the market value, why hasn't Grayscale increased the size of the trust to allow more shares? They can literally print money if they did.

Someone else needs to start a Bitcoin Cash Trust that isn't controlled by Grayscale. That trust isn't helping Bitcoin Cash, it's window dressing only.

The Flippening is coming up... wait it happened last year??

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 09:06 PM PST

I saw the flippening happen last year on Blockchain.Poker. When I started out playing most of the games were in Bitcoin Core a few months later every game switched to BCH.

    Why?

Utility. Low fees. The WSB crowd taught me they will figure it out if the argument is presented logically. No joke I feel like this is ripe for a market correction because Bitcoin actually has worse tech. why impose fees that create friction for payment?

Full disclaimer I own both because I like mitigating risk and the crowd seems to love Bitcoin even with it's high fees.

We all need to stand up together and make #BitcoinCash the top trending on Twitter and Reddit. Dogecoin showed us it is possible!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 05:05 PM PST

We need to unite and start shouting from the rooftops the amazing usecase for #BitcoinCash. Yes there will be trolls but we simply won't feed them. Ignore them all; stand strong as a community. We won't meme or shill shouting "to the moon". I am talking about every one going all at once and using #BitcoinCash and spreading awareness about what BCH can actually do, what it can do for everyone. Instead of pushing the price to go up like Doge and GME we do it differently by pushing awareness of Bitcoin Cash to go up. If we all work together, we will achieve world wide attention and once we have their attention then we will have the adoption!

    Who's with me!?!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:13 AM PST

This is specially true when the transaction rate on BCH is higher than BTC and yet the fees are MUCH lower on BCH. You also see all the plebs standing on the BTC platform while BCH platform is moving passengers flawlessly.

I am moved every time i see it - I cannot believe anyone uses BTC.

Announcing a new crypto sub-- aimed at being a neutral ground for all cryptocurrencies.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 06:05 PM PST

Hey r/BTC, I recently revived r/DigitalMoney with the intention of creating a Subreddit where anyone's voice can be heard, and any coin can be discussed.

With the rise of r/Bitcoin and r/Cryptocurrency, there's been an unfortunate trend of censorship through banning those who go against the moderators' views. This has affected many great communities, including this one. I wanted to reach out to explain a bit about what makes this Subreddit different, and what we're trying to achieve.

First, you may notice the presence of many types of content on the sub, sourced from other cryptocurrency subreddits. This is done via a bot which looks for the best performing threads from about 20 subreddits, and crossposts it, as well as some of the top-level comments, to r/DigitalMoney. This is designed to help percolate the best content from each subreddit, and transfers some comments so that discussion can continue outside of the reach of moderators who may wish to control narrative.

We envision a space where anyone can be critical of, or be a fan of, whichever cryptocurrency they believe in. We don't think an adversarial approach will lead to the success of the space-- indeed we need to evolve past the toxic behaviors of the past to attract the kinds of users we all dream of. We believe r/DigitalMoney can be a place where any opinion can be heard without fear of reprisal. With that, we have a simplified set of rules intended to only remove hate speech and other toxic behavior toward others.

We're also looking for a few more moderators which represent different communities. While the actual moderation will be low, we would like to show everyone that we have a diverse team with different points of view in order to reduce the potential for biased action. Let me know if you're interested.

We hope to see you there!

    Uncensorable API using IPFS

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 10:12 AM PST

Creating an uncensorable API is very important for the Bitcoin community. Censorship is coming for Bitcoin. We need to be ready for it.

I just posted this blog article to present the high-level problems and solutions that I've been researching, around building an uncensorable API. An API is just a way for computers on the internet to talk to one another.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy this. I look forward to feedback. If you'd like to get involved with the development, please reach out to me via the Permissionless Software Foundation (PSF) Telegram chat. Why is nobody sticking Bitcoin miners in warm water boilers?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:44 AM PST

You have all seen these, right?

Most of them are electric, some are gass. They keep water at a 95 Celsius temperature, just below boiling point (this is the most effective way of keeping it warm). When you need warm water, it will mix it with cold to give you a pleasant temperature for your shower also when it moves through piping it quickly drops from 95C. It can also be used to heat up homes by pumping hot water through radiators. They use em a lot in europe, usually those hot water radiators are installed under windows.

Now 99% of the energy that goes in to a computer comes out in the form of heat. Bitcoin miners produce heat at about 105C.

So why not buy an old miner that can't make money anymore unless you have free electricity.

Now you buy a used warm water boiler. You stick the bitcoin miner in it, so that when the boiler activates because the water temp is dropping under 90C, the miner starts mining.

You hook it up to 3G/4G/5G and point it at your pool.

Now you locally find the lowest price for a new warm water boiler, and you sell your boiler for a price 10 maybe 20% under it.

Now these people that bought it, the more showers they take the more Bitcoin you mine. They pay for the electricity. Their boiler won't be 100% efficient anymore, but it might still be 90% efficient perhaps even 95% efficient.

It boggles my mind that nobody has done this yet. Now you use the mining profits to do it again. Rinse and repeat. You could start the biggest warm water boiler company in the world and bankrupt your competition by selling 25% under their prices and if you do it properly nobody would figure out your secret, that you are mining Bitcoin without paying for electricity but also without stealing it from somebody. That couple of %loss of efficiency compared to regular water boiler? Nobody will notice.

You sell a 100 million boiler like this and you pretty much control the entire Bitcoin network. Prices of electricity go up worldwide, you laugh. It does not affect you.

Oh yeah and you will provide all your customers with life time free boiler repair, cause you know once in while those Bitcoin miner might need some maintenance ....
